    there is no better then Bream...there are many engaging and talented classical guitarist but Bream puts the soul of a passionate musician in everything he plays...on top of that playing everything w/ technical brilliance and interesting showmenship...I once heard somebody say Bream is THE virtuoso of the guitar,couldnt agree more...there is NO BETTER THEN BREAM!

    I have never recalled ever hearing this piece. I have always shied away from playing any Aguado. I am so pleased to have heard it first hand from Mr. Bream. Thank you Julian.

    exactly, i can listen to julian all the time, his sound and tone from his fingers is amazing, been my favourite guitarist for years, shame he's getting old now- absolutely one of a kind

    phrase at 3:25 is shaped so well, his expression is so good. It's sincere, it's very distracting to me when performers are over the top and dramatize every single line to the max with head bobbing, body swaying, and retarded expressions on their faces. Bream's playing is so subtle...

    For all guitar lovers - I recommend Brazilian guitarists Yamandu Costa, a genius of the instrument, although he plays a very different genre (fast Brazilian music).

    I agree. He is just a superb genius. I doubt that there are too many people living that could do this piece anywhere near the justice it deserves. Just faultlessly composed and genius in its execution of musicianship. Sheer beauty...

    I love Julian. He is the most fantastic Musician.
    But I must say, watching his face when he plays can be funny... he looks like he's having a conniption trying to keep his fingers moving.

    Anyone can practice 8+ hours a day and become a virtuoso with superb technique, but there are some qualities you can't cultivate or practice. Bream had those special musicality qualities that made pieces come alive.

    Bream at his best. Wonderful phrasing. Flawless articulation. Lovely feel and real flare. Incredible variation in tone. Just outstanding. No other guitarist grabs my attention and keeps it like dear Mr Bream. An International Treasure.

    It's all a matter of opinion I'm afraid, and thanks for sharing yours. I don't agree that Segovia was the best. Segovia did make classical guitar "respectable" and legitimized it as a classical instrument. But I don't think he was the absolute best.And I would put Bream ahead of Yepes anyday. While I agree there's some players who are better then others, at a certain point it becomes pointless to some degree to say who is the "best ever" when comparing people like Bream, Williams, and Segovia.

    Why, cause Bream's not Asian?
    Jie's interpretation is that of a baby.
    Bream's is the true vision of the composer.

  • @muli99
    @muli99 16 років тому

    I am not so sure whether Bream is or not the true vision of the composer. Non Spanish guitarists have problems to express the true Spanish sound, especially playing a piece using distinguished rubatos, etc.
    It is the same thing for a Spanish trying to play Shakespeare.

    Why do people persist with the Williams vs Bream debate, or who is the best ever classical guitarist. It's like saying Brie is better than Camembert. I like both equally well. And, yes, 'digs' is still in use! It is used thus: "Did you stay in digs whilst at University?"

    The wellthiest person is not the one that the one who has more things, but the one that less needs. I can imagine that he was happy and what he needed he gets it, and almost sure that he never got hungry because of economical situations.

  • @nostberg
    @nostberg 16 років тому

    Bream said DIGS not dicks. Digs is a dwelling place, common usage amongst jazz musicians. In some of the You Tube videos he is using a guitar by Romanillios with the famous arches rosette developed by Romanillios. Neil Ostbeg

    Bream is one of my favotrites guitar players. Maybe the number 1. He does, besides all, an extraordinary work with the "timbre" in his playing.
    The unique crime I heard he practise sometimes ( just sometimes, and not in this video for example ) is the noisy sound of the left hand gliding along of the strings.

      +oldwhtman I had the pleasure of sitting less than 15 feet from Bream at a concert years ago in Albany, NY. Some of his facial expressions were a bit distracting, but it didn't matter because his playing was so incredible.

    I have seen Bream in concert several times. He plays with a flair, tone and texture unequaled by any other guitarist. He plays loud in concert unlike Segovia who was difficult to hear in a concert hall. Brilliant!!

    "The guitar is too woody"!? Hilarious! The next time I see Jose Romanillos I'll be sure to tell him that his guitar sounded "too woody" in the hands of the most expressive guitarist of the 20th century! Unbelievable!
