Call me a bad person, buuuuutttt we only buy for our kids. No parents, no siblings, no one else. We never expect anything in return from anyone either. My husband and I don't even buy for each other. All I ever want is the whole day together kids opening gifts, staying in pjs, big breakfast and Christmas music.

for our wonderful neighbors,,, we give a homemade fruit basket. Big bowl or something from dollar store and get lots of fruit, (not berries). and add chocolate, little treats.. senior age, they already have everything, so family gathers, fruit basket makes so much sense and cheaper then store one BY FAR!
I found a pack of chocolate-covered espresso beans at the Dollar Tree. I'm going to get some more for stocking stuffers
My shopping & wrapping has been done for weeks. Im on fixed income so I shop all year long & that works good for me 😊

One of the things I love about my boyfriend - he was fine skipping Christmas gifts this year! Financially I'm in a crunch, so gifts for my family will be socks and something yummy. They did not want to forego gifts, but I gave them a heads up that I'm not able to reciprocate.
I talked to the produce guy at my local Kroger store and found out how they discount produce. Thanks to all your tips I have a freezer full of meat and a stockpile of pasta and other grains and certain canned items. I also stock up on bread and freeze from our bakery outlets here. I live in Anchorage, AK and can now easily spend $130 a week on groceries.
Our family draws one name out of everyone and buys one gift for that person unless you are under 21, in that case everybody buys that kid something it makes the holiday way less stressful and way more affordable.😃
Magnatiles are great. I first got them when my little girl was 3 and a half and she loves them. Best thing is, i would play with them after she went to bed 😂😂😂

I made each married couple in my immediate family homemade vanilla extract. We also decluttered our games cabinet of things we never play, are practically new, and regifted them to each family 😅

Kinetic sand was a huge hit with my kids. We dumped the bag in a 12x12 scrapbook container so when we are done, the lid closes and we put the whole box back up. No clean-up!

Honestly the best Christmas gift I ever received was from my best friend and her kids....They came over and deep cleaned my house and detailed my car. I have knee issues so it's hard for me to do a good deep clean on my own and getting your car detailed is expensive! Didn't cost them anything but their time and they got a big plate of cookies to take home with them.
That was a great gift. I clean houses and it's very hard on the body. I couldn't do it for free. ❤

Help!!! I just started working at a large medical clinic and found out we buy something for each person including the 8 doctors that work there! There's 17 of us total so I need 16 gifts. Why???!!!! I found out as the gifts started landing on my desk. I was thinking a big pack of Christmas socks and getting a huge pack of flavoured chap sticks off of Amazon and just dividing it up. Is that lame? Any ideas???

I'm sure giving everyone a gift may have started when the clinic was smaller. You can't do anything about it this year but I'd definitely start talking to others in January so the tradition goes away, as this one should. I'd also make it known that no one gave you a heads up when you accepted the position.
For this year, in the situation you are forced into, my budget would be $1.00 per person and make the gifts gender neutral ... yes, really. You cannot possibly know much about 17 different people that you don't live with. Dollar store or small bag or box of homemade cookies or candy would be the route I would take.

I find Christmas gifts useless. You stress to find a gift for somebody that maybe they don't even need, just because it's Christmas. We don't do gifts and our holidays are much much more relaxed than any person I know.

I availed myself of the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales on Amazon, and I bought him a $400.00 stationary bike for $100.00 (before tax). He's been working out on it twice a day since it got here.
I know, Christine, that you prefer Peloton, but I can't afford it. This bike can easily be folded up and stashed in the closet when it's not in use.

I like the idea of the Stanley cups, but they are just too big. Give me a 20 oz size in that style of cup. The large one is too big to fit in my kitchen cabinets...top or bottom without laying it down and turning it Horizontal in the cabinet. Just not a fan. Plus it's just too awkwardly big for my car. Maybe if I drove a large suv I wouldn't think about that point. I wish they made the hospital cups to fit in a cup holder. The smaller size one. I love that cup and use it all the time. I shop all year around and by October I'm finished. I don't buy for everyone, and I'm a practical gift giver. I'm assuming you haven't hit menopause yet, or you wouldn't even want anything about the room being hot. It makes me nauseas to be in a hot room since I started menopause a year ago. Oh the joy of wanting to wear a cute fluffy sweater and pj's but being repulsed by it at the same time, because any minute I'm going to feel like my whole body was just consumed by a volcano, lol.
Yes I'm 54 and I got rid of all my sweaters unless it was a cardigan I could get off in a hurry, funny how life changes!!! 😂😂😂😂

@@dianasimplifies ugh to having the night sweats that soon. Although I did have them some with my second pregnancy. I always say "I guess I finally had to deal with one aspect of being female." Because I never had cramps or bad periods. My pregnancies were a breeze, but menopause has been a complete storm. Maybe things will slow up going into my second year of this. I bought a fan to wear around my neck thats rechargeable. It can last up to 18 hours depending on which speed I use it on. I love that fan. Walmart had them on clearance recently for $6. I bought three more. They are great to have. Especially in the summer if the electric goes off..
