Note: The thought bubble at the end happens after picking multiple suicidal dialogue options. Before this scene I picked the "Fucking Kill yourself you asshole" after opening the hidden compartment in the police ledger with a white interfacing check.
Having this scene, and the suicidal option beforehand counts as two suicidal incidents, triggering the "Finger on the Eject Button" event at the end of this video.
Getting the actual "Finger on the Eject Button" thought requires more suicidal options though. Just keep being a sad detective, and you'll get the thought.

Is there a way to get Finger on the Eject Button to actually do anything (allow you to contemplate suicide \ actually kill yourself)? I wrote a literal guide to the Thought Cabinet, but still have no idea whether that thought does anything concrete.

Just to satisfy my endless curiosity about possible outcomes, I delayed this event and triggered it in 3 different situations: having a gun, but having no bullet. Having the bullet, but having no gun. Then finally, having my own gun and one bullet. A few things turned out different in that scenario. When I ask to borrow his pistol, Kim pointed out that I had my own gun. Nevertheless, it is possible to insist and proceed.
Then, I exhausted the dialogue but did not pull the trigger. Then, during the talk with Kim I said it would happen again and I would try it again soon. Upon leaving the cafeteria, I clicked the orb. (My hope was to get an early unlock of the Eject Button thought). Instead, by owning both the gun and ammo, a new opportunity presents itself. You can commit suicide, succesfully, then and there. No major changes on the game over screen, though.

Makes me wonder exactly how Harry's amnesia works. That, and the phonecall late in game, along with random outbursts from time to time, prompt that appears when knocking on the doors in hotel early on, with Harry feeling urge to slam the doors and Kim being disturbed by it if he does it.
Harry's mind is splintering, but also trying to shield him from his pain.

The "get this *one* thing right" always hits so hard... Harry must feel so defeated and useless at this point, so much that he thinks it is the only option and yet, he feels like he can fail at it... so embarrassed, devalued and stripped of his sense of worth. It's really sad to see how his self-esteem failed him and the circumstances won over him.

Jesus, I was looking at reviews for this game because I want to get it, and I came across one review that said they “realllly” wanted to like it, but it started to negatively affect their psyche while playing the game. I’ve had strong empathy moments in my life before to certain dark themes in movies and shows, but I figured the reviewer was just a bit “too” fragile…then at the end of this of this video I see that you can choose to say it was “a cry for help” “you’ll do it again really soon” and you have to deal with the fact that Kim now has to keep that rolling around in his mind…

When Sylvie described harry showing off his gun to everybody and ask them to describe it for him because it "calms him" i almost died, i started to black out hard when she started talking about the suicide jokes. This also shows how much people are afraid of a potential agent of the moralintern, putting up with all this BS and still respectful of the officer(or it shows how people are used to insanity in their fellow man because the world is fucked and this is just part of everyday life)
And this kind of behavior also excuses why Vic is such an asshole towards Harry, who knows how long he's been Harry's partner and has to live through his worst antics and deepest part of his depression.
Kim is a godsend, but it's also not hard to imagine him breaking and giving up on Harry at some point (he literally walks out on him if you're too much of a racist asshole)

Something I noticed about this is that, to shoot yourself, you don't need to pass any type of check. For example, when you choose the option to shoot Cunoesse (because that's something you can fucking do) you first need to pass a Composure check, not a Hand/Eye Coordination check, to successfully shoot her.
I think with this you can tell that, although he will have some restraint when harming others, he can and will shoot himself without restraint.

@@MuttonChopCop its not a side quest as I remember, it was after doom spiral’s story about the headless faln rider, when wandering around at night (i think there’s a purple bubble or a text dialouge for kim), kim will ask something like “are we really looking for the headless faln at the night?”

gives you a big stat boost to authority and suggestion but every single night at 9pm you get a thought that's like "okay i'm ready, lets do it" and you have to actively choose to not kill yourself on the spot

Nope!
Putting a gun in your mouth just requires talking to Tidus long enough to get the authority check. If you fail that check, and then ask Kim for his gun, this scene plays.
Not shooting the body down just changes a few lines of dialogue within the conversation.
