Well done. I did it on my suzy 12 '01 . it works really good. 400g in left and 280 g in right handle bar side. The first nut seems to be not tight but when you set the upper one at specific torque all works correctly. Just one thing: the seal of upper bearing . I had to remove it because keylock didn't engage properly. Too high to get its place. I remove the all balls upper seal and simply reinstall the original rubber seal and it goes well.

Shane, great video. I have a relatively new 2017 GSXR 1000, it has 2500 miles on it. I am getting a, what sounds horrible to me, Cracking sound when applying hard braking, and be replicated with bike off, push bike forward, hard brake, and push down on handle bars with force at the same time, Crack, move in reverse, brake hard, pull up on handle bars with force, Crack! Seems like it is competing from handle bar area, and near steering stem for what I can narrow down. Is a cracking sound something the steering stem bearings could make?

Had the head bearing replaced recently and the bike began to get this high speed full frame wobble very discouraging. What woult symptoms feel like if the bear were over tightened>
I know this was 3 years ago but just for anyone else with the same problem, this can happen when the bearing is too tight and also too loose. If the wobble occurs at a similar speed everytime and it persists (the bike doesnt fix the issue on its own within a few seconds) then its very likely the problem is due to the upper and lower portions of the triple tree being out of alignment

sorry but your wrong on how to adjust you don't run Tite for going straight and loose for sport like feel it is to be adjusted so it corrects itself from side to side starting from center with wheel of the ground!!! you say loos for sport and Tite for straight then you go by the book which is totally different you stay with the book when it comes to the front end.
You're misunderstanding the examples. You don't run tight or loose ever. You run what the manual states. The "looser than or tighter then" was a comparison to the type of bikes and the weight in relation to the steering feel. Also, in certain racing applications teams will alter to the desired inputs they want.
Correct, there is no loose or tight choice in steering head bearing adjustment, there's only correct or wrong. Too loose and you end up with play, too tight and the rollers will make indentations in the bearing races.

where to buy that adjustable "spanner nut wrench" ??
Lmao google it bro
Bike master makes one I believe

Sounds like busted tapered bearing cage- very dangerous..... steering can lockup.
Hi did you figure out what the crack was as I have same issue gsxr
For a surprise, check the pull weight on the forks after you crank down the top nut to spec. Bye bye setting.
Top triple tree nut should have no effect on bearing preload. Only the spanner nut.
Great teaching, thanks so much. My C90t needs to be done. 2005 Boulevard with 26k miles
Has some vibration issues that aren't to my liking.
Where can I get that spanner wrench?
Bill Quillin online somewhere id say
