Obviously a problem with Gaahleri quality control. You are a braver man than me. I would have asked Gaahleri to honour their guarantee and send a replacement.
Thanks for the comment. Although i had the issue. I'm usually one that doesn't mind since I understand that i might have gotten the lemon of the batch. Lol I've had others message me stating that they don't have the issue with theirs, which is great to hear. I just wanted to make everyone aware of the issue. I also want to mention that the Gaahleri team did send me a replacement.

really glad you made this video and i saw it before i got my swallowtail today. it was also very grainy feeling. i didn't see any flakes but i did run through a cotton swap and got some very fine grey dust. Lubed everything up and man is it smooth. also glad i referred to your video was looking at the paperwork and would have never found that little scew on the bottom since it was shown on top.
Thank you - such a helpful video. My Swallowtail was delivered a couple of days ago but before it arrived I found your video and thought - "oh! some stuff to watch out for when unboxing and trying". So when mine arrived I did a tear down just like in your vid and found 3 small-ish issues. The trigger was not smooth, there was a tiny amount of debris here and there, the assembly was not really top notch causing blowback. All three were easily fixed by following your vid and now instead of feeling like I have a moderately ok airbrush it feels like I have a quality product that is going to perform and make me want to use it as my daily drive! As airbrushers we expect to break down our kit from time to time so I don't have an issue with having to go through this exercise - it seems to be a quality product at a mid-range price. Need to give it a workout but I'm between projects right now - will probably create a new project as an excuse !!!
It's great to hear that it's been working out so far. I ended up using both of mine through my GBWC entry, and they did not have any issues after i fixed mine. Test driving is the best way to figure out if there's anything else!!!!

I have minimal experience with airbrushes and zero experience with the trigger style brush. Maybe Gaahleri will work out the bugs and release a side feed version as well. I like the needle and nozzle combinations Gaahleri offers, but for now, it's looking like Grex will win out on choosing a trigger brush.

I received mine last night took a video posted it they actually reposted it today on there story on Instagram after that I pulled it out it's just like yours it's all gritty it's not buttery smooth thanks for making the video I'm going to contact them but also try this as well
That's awesome. Not the metal part, but the part where it's great now, lol. I went ahead and took all of mine apart and thoroughly cleaned and oild them. They all work great now.
If i am being honest. Its the same airbrush with a different handle. However, i got the bundle with the fan nozzle. Tbh the barbatos one worked perfectly out of the box lol. I did have some issues with this one but after my fix, its been working great.

@grega4450 they have gotten better with time. I just recently got the new mobius line, and both worked perfectly out of the box. And the barbatos rex one worked perfectly as well
I have owned 4 Grex TG3 brushes and that teardown are a knock off of a grex 100% that is exectly how a grex tears down. If you airbrush at one point and time you have to break down and clean it and if you do not want to break down a airbrush DO NOT BUY any of them
I agree that teardowns are necessary when cleaning and cleaning is always required. I have seen people that never clean their airbrushes, lol. Its just part of the process. I just had an issue out of box that is not normal on an airbrush. So i decided to share it so others are aware to always tear down and thoroughly inspect your airbrush even if its new.

I plan on doing a side by side tear down and test spray test come sub the cannel for that
Heya Animus! Are you feeling the two stage pressing on your Swallowtail like the one on the GHAD 68? Its hard for me to tell if im just shooting air without paint since i dont feel that much two stage sensation on the Swallowtail. Do you havr the same problem too?
Try the dual action by pouring a little alcohol and trying to spray. If it does not spray any alcohol when fully pressed, then the issue is that it either needs lubrication or you have to clean it like i did mine. My triggers now are smooth. You can hit the wall gently and feel where it is. Make sure to also adjust the knob on the back.
There is a noticeable difference between the 2 stage on the swallowtail and the 68. Its not your imagination lol. The wall on the swallowtail is much smoother. So you can barely notice it unless press the trigger gently
@animousworks I see I see. I really do like the two stage pressing sensation on the GHAD68. it just feels right since I use the air to dry my paint a bit faster.
@animousworks 😭 everything I got from Gaahleri are awesome but I'm still not used to the Swallowtail after a week of using it. Thank you for sharing your experience. This helped out a lot of people 🙏.
Comfort for one. It's all up to preference, really. When using a normal airbrush to paint for long periods of time, someone like me who has nerve damage can experience cramping and pains. Using a trigger airbrush has helped mitigate it.
@@animousworks Yeah that makes sense. Whatever works for each individual. For me it would be less comfortable, and I would feel less in control. I have spray guns and mini guns if I need wide coverage. The trigger style brushes just feel like I'm watering my lawn.

After i did this with mine, it got smooth. I am actually using it at the moment in my current build for GBWC.

had grinding/metal particles on my trigger (98), cleaned it up and now its great.
