When it comes to technology people keep forgetting how far we've gone in past 20 years. Harry is supposed to be Gen X. Hardly anyone had a cell phone as a teen, there were no smartphones yet. Internet was slow and not easily accessible, no free WiFi, no UA-cam, FB, etc. Things were just starting. At that point your wand would be much cooler and magic would be more advanced than any muggle technology.

I’m not saying that all wizards do that, it’s just that life at the the Wizarding World isn’t as easy as one might think.
@The God Emperor Himself Which is kind of a plot hole, because of Collin's camera. Not magical, and the pictures only get magical (start moving and so on) when develloped in a special potion. Also the "no technology" thing is one of the reasons why pure-blood supremacists exist in the first place, because they live in their own world and really belive that they are supperior to muggels. If Voldemort really had started a war against the muggel world he would have lost big time, because the wizzard world is still stuck in medieval times.

Everything in the real world has it's ups and downs for a stable balance, why should the wizarding world b any different. Defense Against the Dark Arts class had a curse on by Voldemort for being denied the teaching job by Dumbledore years ago, to always have different teacher each year. And now that he's gone the curse is broken.
The point system is a old british school thing that some private schools still have. Yes there would be favouritism during this. Some teachers would doll out more points than others for students doing the same thing but in the books, 2 or 5 points seem to be the standard "You answered all these questions correctly, well done" with 10 points being something given if you've completed a test 100%. When it comes to the ending of the 1st and 2nd books, Dumbledore was awarding them all points because of their roles in stopping the evil person plaguing the school that year. Yes their antics usually broke school rules but Dumbledore valued Heroism, sacrifice and friendship over school rules. Even if Malfoy helped Harry in the chamber of secrets, I'm sure Dumbledore would still award slytherin house 200 points

The Deffense Against the Dark Arts class never actually taught the kids anything useful except in the case of Bartimeous "Barty" Crouch Jr using polyjuice to look like Alastor Moody. (Edit: Sorry I forgot to mention Professor Lupin, but besides Lupin and Barty Crouch no DADA teacher taught them anything useful)

Just imagine living in the modern era of he 2020s and students at Hogwarts are still using owls to send messages to others while Muggles can use smartphones to send messages in only a few seconds without having owl feathers and poop falling on top of you or on your delicious food. I mean, it’s a lot easier sending a message through a phone rather than using a poor owl that has to fly hundreds of miles just to send a single message to communicate with someone else.

I stopped at 1:59, when I realized you're basing so much of this list on the damn _movies_ again. Scrolling down through the comments before watching the rest of the list proved me (mostly) right, since there'd be no danger at all from staircases enclosed in an atrium-like space. I've been railing against this every time it comes up because the people who made the movies misinterpreted so much of the novels. Having grown up watching numerous Hollywood films involving castles and forts, I knew instantly what Rowling meant by staircases changing between floors: they're in the _walls,_ people, where you can't see the upper or lower ends. I can understand when movies are shortened for _time:_ it's okay to leave things out if they don't change plot lines, but Hollywood has a nasty habit of chopping important things, supposedly for time---then adding their own junk that serves no purpose and doesn't further the plot. _Read the books, WatchMojo!_

I think the thing that's always bugged me the most about Hogwarts or just the wizarding world in general is the way food can just magically appear. Why then does hunger still exist? And yes, I know there is a troubled history between muggles and the wizarding world. But wouldn't the witches and wizards be like the best humanitarians if they magically ended world hunger? The muggles wouldn't even have to know where or how the food got there. They're fricken witches and wizards for god's sake.
Gamp's law of elemental transfiguration means unless you've got the food somewhere else, you've already got food that you can multiply, or you've got food you can fix up, no. And duplication isn't a valid option, it's gonna take a lot of time and I don't think the food will keep its nutritional content.

The only reason the teachers keep changing is because Professor Quirrell died, Professor Lockhart lost his memory, Professor Lupin resigned because he was a werewolf, Professor Moody was actually a criminal in disguise, Professor Umbridge got carried off by centaurs. Professor Slughorn is still at Hogwarts.
Rebecca Michael yes and no. DADA class was cursed by Voldemort, so no teacher could last one year (at least for whatever reason J.K.Rowling had in mind). Dumbledore and other wizard could have easily break the curse or at least even bothered themselves to find a way out or a loophole. But nooooooo. Instead they just left the curse just like that, putting students into danger. This is one of those situations you just facepalm and say “What. An. Idiot.”
4:12 I'm just going to throw this out there wizard chess club it works for several reasons 1. it gives the more strategic-minded students a chance to shine 2. it's a lot less dangerous than quidditch assuming that it's being played on small boards and not that giant board in the third floor 3. it's less convoluted than quidditch mainly because wizard chess plays the same as regular chess only the pieces are alive (also side note it's really messed up that the pieces are alive just for them to kill each other)4. it takes less time to play than quidditch and 5. it's another way to earn house points in conclusion there is literally no downside to this idea everybody wins well except for the living chess pieces I guess

By choosing to participate in consuming meat , people are giving their tacit approval to the killing of these animals and the methods for doing so. And I doubt being transfigured is any more unpleasant than male baby chicks being tossed into a grinder while still alive , right after they are born ( just one example ).
The sorting hat is bullshit anyway. It just sorts you where you want to go. If you are muggle and don't know jack shit , then that is when it has to make an effort.
Honestly, they should just ditch the sorting hat system altogether unless students request to have it just because they want to know. All it does is separate the school and influence the kids in bad ways- and it follows them for their whole life, too. It's honestly just working against the goal of uniting the school, and transitioning out of it wouldn't be hard.

As well as people who supposedly you have more in common with. Also , this is kind of similar to how clubs play a role in Japanese high school and college social life. At a boarding school , you can't just leave , you are stuck there. You have to socialize with the people there. The Houses , and clubs too at Hogwarts , give you a premade social network.

Another good example of it is Nearly Headless Nick he used to attend Hogwarts and he'd been around since 1492, even if Nick likes his five centuries of being a ghost (which I doubt) it is disgusting and traumatic for the young students.

I suppose one thing you could say about Slytherin is, if they are supposed to be bad, at least it's in your face. With Gryfendors there is so much pretense. They pretend to be all rebellious, yet really they are just shifting Hearo worship from one personality cult to another. It is a house that completely lacks any kind of critical thinking whatsoever. It is a house populated with people that are just completely in capable of travelling the middle ground on anything and actually thinking something through. It's all just how "brave" you are and how well you worship your favourite hero. Nope, the house drives me nuts and I hate it Farmoor than Slytherin.

Defense Against the Dark Arts class had a curse on by Voldemort for being denied the teaching job by Dumbledore years ago, to always have different teacher each year. And now that he's gone the curse is broken.
The point system is a old british school thing that some private schools still have. Yes there would be favouritism during this. Some teachers would doll out more points than others for students doing the same thing but in the books, 2 or 5 points seem to be the standard "You answered all these questions correctly, well done" with 10 points being something given if you've completed a test 100%.
When it comes to the ending of the 1st and 2nd books, Dumbledore was awarding them all points because of their roles in stopping the evil person plaguing the school that year. Yes their antics usually broke school rules but Dumbledore valued Heroism, sacrifice and friendship over school rules. Even if Malfoy helped Harry in the chamber of secrets, I'm sure Dumbledore would still award slytherin house 200 points

I mean, it’s a lot easier sending a message through a phone rather than using a poor owl that has to fly hundreds of miles just to send a single message to communicate with someone else.

I stopped at 1:59, when I realized you're basing so much of this list on the damn _movies_ again. Scrolling down through the comments before watching the rest of the list proved me (mostly) right, since there'd be no danger at all from staircases enclosed in an atrium-like space. I've been railing against this every time it comes up because the people who made the movies misinterpreted so much of the novels. Having grown up watching numerous Hollywood films involving castles and forts, I knew instantly what Rowling meant by staircases changing between floors: they're in the _walls,_ people, where you can't see the upper or lower ends. I can understand when movies are shortened for _time:_ it's okay to leave things out if they don't change plot lines, but Hollywood has a nasty habit of chopping important things, supposedly for time---then adding their own junk that serves no purpose and doesn't further the plot. _Read the books, WatchMojo!_

I think the thing that's always bugged me the most about Hogwarts or just the wizarding world in general is the way food can just magically appear. Why then does hunger still exist? And yes, I know there is a troubled history between muggles and the wizarding world. But wouldn't the witches and wizards be like the best humanitarians if they magically ended world hunger? The muggles wouldn't even have to know where or how the food got there. They're fricken witches and wizards for god's sake.
Gamp's law of elemental transfiguration means unless you've got the food somewhere else, you've already got food that you can multiply, or you've got food you can fix up, no. And duplication isn't a valid option, it's gonna take a lot of time and I don't think the food will keep its nutritional content.

4:12 I'm just going to throw this out there wizard chess club it works for several reasons 1. it gives the more strategic-minded students a chance to shine 2. it's a lot less dangerous than quidditch assuming that it's being played on small boards and not that giant board in the third floor 3. it's less convoluted than quidditch mainly because wizard chess plays the same as regular chess only the pieces are alive (also side note it's really messed up that the pieces are alive just for them to kill each other)4. it takes less time to play than quidditch and 5. it's another way to earn house points in conclusion there is literally no downside to this idea everybody wins well except for the living chess pieces I guess

@@Cypresssina Eating animals as a "basic need" food was once necessary , but it no longer is. Eating meat is now a matter choice in first world countries where you have plentiful options. By choosing to participate in consuming meat , people are giving their tacit approval to the killing of these animals and the methods for doing so.
And I doubt being transfigured is any more unpleasant than male baby chicks being tossed into a grinder while still alive , right after they are born ( just one example ).

The sorting hat is bullshit anyway. It just sorts you where you want to go. If you are muggle and don't know jack shit , then that is when it has to make an effort.
Honestly, they should just ditch the sorting hat system altogether unless students request to have it just because they want to know. All it does is separate the school and influence the kids in bad ways- and it follows them for their whole life, too. It's honestly just working against the goal of uniting the school, and transitioning out of it wouldn't be hard.
@@ferrin6326 That is true , but it also has benefits and fits school life in other countries , kind of. It sorts you into smaller groups which leads to stronger ties within your house. As well as people who supposedly you have more in common with. Also , this is kind of similar to how clubs play a role in Japanese high school and college social life. At a boarding school , you can't just leave , you are stuck there. You have to socialize with the people there. The Houses , and clubs too at Hogwarts , give you a premade social network.
