12ga. Slugs made from Craftsman Sockets

- You'd think if someone made slugs from a socket, they'd at least use a Harbor Freight one. But Brian went all out and used Craftsman sockets. He did a fine job of keeping these in spec.

These hit pretty hard. Must be impact sockets.
CARLOS!
Ba Da TSS! 😂
LOL, you beat me to it
😂
GROAN! lol
Should have used harbor freight sockets as they’re guaranteed to fragment.
Hahaha
Pre-frangible...
I think the slow mo shot at the end has to be almost the most perfect alignment of random things I've seen in a long time...
Way to go everyone involved
thanks!
The last slow-mo shot of the ballistics gel head expanding, and then the peas being ejected is one of the best you've ever captured. One of the best I've seen on the internet.
thanks Tim!
Agreed.
@@thebigdog2295 ...
The Head disappears, and the Peas just keep appearing. It's really an amazing visual.
@@timcarter1164 Definitely, especially with all the different shapes the gelatin made. I had to watch it twice.
@@thebigdog2295 ...
I have already watched it a couple of times, and then even took the UA-cam slow mo to it to slow it down even more. It's just a great shot.
miss the old days, a video a day, danny, consistent finger wiggles, uncensored content that paid well enough to make it worth jeff’s time!
Amen brother
Danny will always be missed
Jeff has his own channel
Appreciate you guys keeping Dad in your memories. He may be gone from this earth, but knowing he's still in your hearts and minds keeps a little piece of him here.
@@markchapman2585 this is Jeff's channel. Greg (OG) also has his own channel; OG's Danger Show
Brian used 3/16 because he couldn’t find any 1/2 or 10mm.
lol right!?
Oddly enough, i did a pickup for a client going to a nursing home, and found a toolbox with mostly 10mm sockets and wrenches. I thought i hit the jackpot. (Until they all magically disapear that is)
Does he need some? I should have about a dozen rolled behind my tool boxes!?!
Always the 10mm..
It's well known fact that metric tools, especially the most useful ones (looking at you 10mm) migrate back to the lands of their birth, France. There they are collected up by dedicated socket "farmers" cleaned and sold back in single packs to frustrated Americans.
Do you remember when you could take a Craftsman tool back to Sears and get a brand new one, for free? No? I'm too old!
You can still take them in to any craftsman dealer and get replacements.
FULL STATEMENT FROM LOWE'S CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS: "we will honor all lifetime warranties no matter where the CRAFTSMAN hand tool was purchased. We ask that customers bring in the item, and we'll replace it if we have the product.
I remember returning Craftsman tools to Sears and I'm only 28 lol
@@TLLConlineI was about to ask who still carries Craftsman. I can’t stand my local Lowe’s and haven’t been there in years. Thanks for the info.
@@jaybee6318If you have a ACE near you.
Yeah go to Lowes. I've done it a few times with old craftsman tools
That last shot on Pea Head ! Superb. Full turbo splat !
Libs criticize us for liking this stuff - Unacceptable !
I'll come back to see if my reply has been censored
As the creator, I LOVE the name "Socket Rocket"! I wish I had thought of it....
Is that a rocket socket in your pocket or are you just happy to see us?
Thanks to Brian for the ammo, Zack & Shane for shooting and Jeff for tabletop, loading and filming. Is your yard sale table gone or did I miss it? 😎
I'm just trying something different, more compact
Took a 10mm socket back. They replaced it and rolled their eyes at me.
Last shot on the pea/head was insane. The cavity it made.. the expansion of the skull.. WOW
Yes very interesting
Socket rocket would've made danny hit the floor laughing lol. Really interested to see the results of this!
Thank you clear ballistics jell, I watched this video again and enjoyed it all over again. Yes workers with big money tools always amazed me too. I was a welder and I seen every welding rig under the sun. Me and my old Lincoln welder would put in work. I had old Delco 1 that I wish I'd kept, but that was 50 years ago. Big time good video Jeff!
thank you!
@taofledermaus brother I thank u for the reply and ❤️ but I'm not expecting it, like I said if u just put up a video of u guy's talking it's a 7, just for getting out there and doing it, but u always make sure we see and can learn how u do it, and the video camera, and slow motion camera, I can say most of u're videos is a big ass 10/10. THANK YOU JEFF!
I am NOT bored by the details. TYVM
In aviation I used my 3/16 socket way more then I ever wanted. Removing small nuts and screws on Electrical connections. Great video.
Hahah, me too, on the little adel clamp nuts .
Looking into getting my license and a bush plane. Thanks for the heads up.
As someone, who has been using hand tools for 45 yrs...Great Video!!
thanks!
Peas coming out of the entrance wound was quite funny tbh.
I love how these video layouts have been lately. Totally deserving of the name taofledermaus. I feel like such a nerd watching this and that makes me happy.
Yay, thank you!
Be really interesting if he filled the sockets with lead. It would not only change the projection of it. But also add some mass to the point that they would probably go through the lead plate.
One thing is for sure, they damn sure work!! Always another great video by Jeff and the T Maus team!!! The best!
thanks again Wilson
This is what it means to do your job with love. Hello from Turkey.🇹🇷
hello!
Thanks clear ballistics for helping out.
I'd say the socket in a custom poured lead mold would work amazing!
Love the cutaway view of the shell
I love the ballistic head with the canned veggies. Great idea.
thank you!
Not the right size socket just got a new meaning. Oscar i believe is heading u're way for this 1 Jeff. Sad an true part is ive shot sockets outta my shotguns usually dipped in glue or wax, with some lead in the center of socket. U always make me remember, think and sometimes i even learn. 10/10 cause i know this will win an Oscar.
lol thanks
@@taofledermaus ❤️
I hereby post this comment for the sole purpose of posting a meaningless comment. (Oh and thanks for another fun video. )
@@SuperDerfmaster superdicf new award for dumb comment goes 2 u're mom. Meaningless comment added and liked
I've been paid to be a mechanic for 23 years now. I have 1 socket that size, it's an old Craftsman and I've probably never used it lol. Great Episode Jeff!👍🏻🇺🇲
The slow motion of the slug hitting the head and the pea's flying out was pure gold!
thanks Nick
dang he just pulled that socket rocket name right out of the proverbial hat 🤣
I'm sure I said this before but I love this channel. Before I found you guys many a times I would wonder "I wonder how that would act as round" and you guys just answer that on a regular basis, it's beautiful. Not only is this entertaining content but it fulfills curiosity and that might just arguably be better.
thank you very much!
The closing shot was so good, you could see pieces of resin following the peas and see the rotation of the peas. Well done to all involved!
thank you
For the first time in ages, I didn't get the notification, but it did appear in my recommended feed. I got a UA-cam survey up front. No ads.
Yt is up to odd biz lately
Nothing is better then OG'S commentary.. the socket was one of the better exotic projectiles .
He'd also be having a field day with the name "Socket Rocket."
Yeah, 3/16" sockets are expendable. Another expendable is a 9mm socket. The biggest mystery in a repair shop is where do all the 10mm sockets disappear to?
lol! A socket set should come with 3 or more spare 10mm sockets
11mm is also never used.
ssshhhhh... Don't tell anyone but I have ALL the missing 10mm's...
@@Kenoscope We'll be seeing you soon...😬
You will need that 9mm to remove the one 9mm on a ford water pump.
You've invented a new standard for sighting in firearms. "Your a box of salt high and half box left."
That saying about the mechanic that can fix stuff is what impresses you reminds me of a shop I worked for the owner hired me because he knew me and my ability. The other mechanic he had working there had just about every snap on tool there was and I only had the bare minimum from sears. He always made fun of my tools saying he's a better mechanic because he has all the best that snap on has to offer. I would just laugh and say ok the tools don't make you a good mechanic, your ability to diagnose and fix the problem makes you a good mechanic. The owner finally heard this guy downing my tools and he told him that my tools may not be as expensive as his but they're used properly by a much better mechanic. I just said thank you I appreciate it. That other mechanic never said anything about my tools anymore. Thanks for saying that quote, that was a great memory.
When I first started out, I had the bare minimum tools and each check I'd buy a new set of something I needed for the job. The worst thing you can do is ask to borrow tools from other guys.
The peas spitting out of the head was hilarious.
"I got peas on my head
Don't call me a pea head"
-Andy Milonakis
That pea-ruption was satisfying to watch.
Oh, man - that Mr. Pea Head shot was just epic! I’ve blown coffee out of my nose before, but never anything like that! Holy Toledo!
lol thanks
I like to imagine that the creators of some of these slugs, watch your videos of their creations, sitting at their PC/ hovering over their phone like NASA mission control during a launch 🤣🤣
lol
Too bad the gel block was out of commission, I'd really love to have seen the damage. But man, when these hit, they HIT! Good show as always!
That can of peas head was absolutely epic. One of the best slo-mo ballistics shots I've seen in a long time.
thanks!
The amount of times of reached for a socket, the etching all faded, placed it on my wrench only to find either nut is metric or worse, imperial and my socket is a fraction of an mm out and then hurled said bit.
To me, this video is birthed through madness at the metric system. Olde imperial has been around for tens of thousands of years! Bravo
This was another great video!
Thanks Jeff and you two dudes!
Lol pea brains
thank you!!
Bro who are you guys paying off at UA-cam to stay monetized? It blows my mind that I get ads on your vids. I’m glad they’re not shafting you every vid, but it’s weird
I've been lucky lately. The "Rods from God" was demonetized briefly but I contacted YT and they fixed it
I use Brave browser, free app, no ads
I work as a mechanic doing alignments and I noticed that shops become very valuable during war. Not only can you mod a DSHK into an infantry weapon and build "turtle tanks" but you can also use your extra tools as projectiles. I'll never look at my tools or equipment the same.
The headshot slo-mo was incredible! Thanks Jeff!
thanks John!
CLEAR BALLISTICS...
THANK YOU
You bring so much to multiple you tube channels.
Well glasses head was a pea brain! Interesting to see the head assume the shape of several Sci-fyi villan/monsters as it absorbed the shock! Thanks guys for another fastinating video!
It turned square! thanks!
The last shot gives new meaning to the saying, Pea Brain.
The last gel head shot was really cool! Decent slugs too.
thanks!
Love the final shot. Very cool footage. Nice job guys.
thank you!
Wow a slug made out of a gravity bong bowl!
based
Holy mother of god that force transfer in the last shot is just gnarly
Holy Mother of God, pray for us now and at the hour of our death. Amen
I like the way the resin magnifies the socket
The best non bias gun tuber. Love ya guys
thanks
Those peas looked awesome in slow motion!
thanks
Always wondered what you did for a living but I figured it was something technical. I use 3/8 sockets a fair amount because we work on a lot of antique cars in our shop mostly for bleeding wheel cylinders.. Glad he didn't use a 10 mm socets because those damn things are valuable these days!
I worked for a winery, Eagle Snacks, Pactiv (package material) a crappy ethanol plant, and Land O Lakes
Must say that is an excellent use for Craftsman sockets.
You ALWAYS beat yourself up about the "boring facts" but that's the most interesting stuff!
This is more reminiscent of older TFM videos . I enjoyed it, thanks folks
thanks!
Nice Slugs. Very Creative!
thanks
Always very entertaining and somewhat informative, never disappointing.👍👍
Thanks Brian and taofledermaus. Great work fellas
thank you Jason
Another quality video from Tau! Great job!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very entertaining and interesting. You have some good partners there too. Thanks so much!
thank you Bill
That headshot was absolutely wild, great job
That ballistic dummy head was spectacular . That a unique projectile.
thanks!
whoa that ending in real time and slow mo is super impressive.
Hey guys, that ballistics head spat those peas out faster than someone on the Atkins diet. Patooee 😮😂😂❤ A (UK)
lol
The pea puking head was amazing👍
(voice of Bruce from Family Guy)
I like your little shotgun shell diorama 😁
Crazy concept encasing a projectile in acrylic. Rad. Clean chamfer work too!
For stabilization possibly make a mold from a grooved slug? Great video as always. Great work Brian! F'n scary man!!!
The great ideas keep rolling in. I love to see American ingenuity in action.
thanks
There's nothing more satisfying than the slo-mo shots of a laser straight, spinning, and stable projectile.
I've been watching for years anf love this channel. It's make me so happy, after 12 hour work day, to see that I have a new TAOFLEDERMAUS video to watch
I've only been watching Jeff's videos for 8 years but I feel the same way. It's my favorite part of the day.
thank you!
Y’all never disappoint gents
thanks
The comment about being unnatural to not aim at the mark reminded me of my old combat shooting days in the British Army. The only time we aimed at the mark was when zeroing, pretty much. Until you got used to it it was a very hard thing to do naturally.
That last slo-mo was really well done sir.
Thanks!
That "Head Shot" at the end was MONEY!
thanks
That's fine Craftmanship right there.
Great video gents!!! Pea sneezin out the eyeball made me lol! Thank you for making and sharing your videos with us!!!
thanks Bill
Excellent video, very surprising results!
thank you!
I would like to see that same socket shape but made out of lead for some expansion. Great videos guys.
I remember as kids in the seventh and eighth grade we used to go to the hardware store, and buy deep well sockets so we can turn them into bowls to smoke old-fashioned seed filled Mary Jane.
As an aircraft mechanic we used 3/16 sockets daily. One thing I would like to see with the Socket Rocket design would be to add lead powder to the resin to add some weight and structure to the resin.
Jeff, Zack & Shane, that was too cool! The head was the climax! It was, as you said, violent!
thank you!!
Great video Jeff. Sweet slug Brian. Awesome shooting Zack and Shane.
thanks William
Love this idea
Love the ballistic head of peas
Love this channel
Awesome
Thanks 👍
2 things.
#1. That head shot was the best thing ever.
#2. Snapon tools. I have just about 50 years on the wrenches. I do have some snapon but not much. I like the ratchets and a few special tools.
I was a field service mechanic for years. Out in the forest, in the rain, tool boxes always wet. I used to drill drain holes in my boxes to let the water out. Pretty much impossible to keep them dry.
So you have to ask yourself, do I want 10’s of thousands of dollars worth of rust or should I just go with the cheap crap and not worry.
I went with the cheap option.
Just don't bother buying cheap snap ring pliers, those are good for one use if you are lucky lol
Mr. Clear Head is always awesome.
Great job, Brian; and great idea!
The last one was a pea-brain! LOL! Great video guys!
Thank you 😁
15:05 - Best use for canned peas ever!! The way that gel head snorts out those peas is hilarious!
Edit: I loved the name, "Socket Rocket." But after this last shot you could also call these slugs "Decongestors." 😁
lol
Made my day, sir!
Cheers
Love the cross section detail view.
Love from Aus
Thanks 👍
That clear gummy bear 🐻 was cristal clear. Nice video fellas.
thanks!
🤣🤣 the slow motion on the head almost fell out of my chair. Another fine upload keep them coming 😃
Glad you enjoyed it
No way anyone could squeeze a Kevlar panel into such a small ball as the slugs do..( except for OG and his giant meat hands) 😁
lol
Thank you Jeff and TFM shooters. Very interesting design 👌
thank you!! ! ! !
