- Today, Heather and I take a hard look at the Trump trials, the latest from Gaza, and RFK Junior’s brain-eating parasite, among other things.
Please bring up a chair and grab a cup of coffee.
You need to work on making it clear that criticizing Israel is not anti-Semitism... As clear as that. Too many public figures have conflated those two things. We also need to make it clear that proposing cutting funding to Israel is not anti-Semitism.
Chanting, "From the river to the sea!" is definitely anti Semitic advocation of genocide and the protestors are doing this... Opposing a war against Hamas after they beheaded civilians in front of their families, raped women and girls in front of their families, and kidnapped civilians is supporting Hamas and excusing their atrocities. Every battle in history that has ever been fought in urban areas kills more civilians than both side's combatants combined, yet Israel's ratio of collateral damage is less than any army has ever accomplished despite Hamas actively using Palestinians as human shields. Criticize as you please but don't pretend Israel is morally inferior to Hamas or that supporting Hamas isn't anti Semitic.

And so, aligning on that definition, I think it safe to say that being against the actions of Israel's current Netanyahu administration is not the same as being anti-semitic, per se, unless you are also anti-Jew (or anti-Arab). IN THE SAME WAY... being against the actions of Biden's administration does not mean the holder of that view is "neccesarily" anti-christian.
Most of the protest coverage I have seen seems to indicate Anti-Israel sentiment and not Anti-semitic sentiment. It is not a minor distinction. Being labeled an anti-semite is like calling someone racist when in fact they are not...they simply want the killing to stop.

The Israel-Palestine conflict is an excellent learning opportunity. I wish one of these colleges would hold a debate. They can "televise" it. Everyone would watch. All would learn. The truth can come out.

Just read "The Scheme..." by Sheldon Whitehouse. What a great summary of how the Supreme Court has become captured by the Libertarians/Republicans. We need to elect people who recognize the problem and are willing to change the current broken campaign finance system and standards for our Supreme Court justices.
Whitehouse also presents his findings on UA-cam. Whitehouse is such an asset to the Senate and to justice.
I say this every day: Of all the psycho evil crap these clowns are pulling, we're laser-focused on "paying off a mistress with campaign funds" and "one of them put down a dog"? Seriously?

Mike Johnson is anti-choice, supports the criminalization of cannabis, is a climate denier, supported Trumps Muslim ban, voted against certifying the 2020 election, and suggested that homosexuality would lead people to marry their pets. How this klatch refers to him as 'the best they've seen in many years' without referring to any of this is shameful.

It doesn’t matter what the situation is, the court is there to fairly hold people to account and treat everyone equally in as rapid a time as possible. Justice delayed is justice denied . If it doesn’t do that then you have a failed justice system.

I was paying $10.98 for a case of pop/soda/ before and during the pandemic. After it went to a high of $19.98 for that same case. Now its around $15.98. I stopped drinking soda and cut out any junk food because its so expensive I would rather spend it on good food. This is the same for everything we buy so the gains of pay increases were totaly wiped out and I think that was the plan.

The Supreme Court should have never taken the immunity case. The Appellate Court decision was unanimous and rock solid. That they even took up the case speaks volumes and reeks of corruption. Thomas has yet to recuse himself.

I will like to ask the Supreme Court this simple Constitutional question. "Why the Founding Fathers have added the Impeachment Clause to the Constitution? " Answer is simple. They have know that No One is above the Law even the President.

I disagree with Robert as far as the Supreme Court deliberately delaying their decision.
It should have been an emergency case to be heard and decided ASAP given the gravity of it. More than likely they'll just punt it back to the Lower Court to decide after delaying as much as possible. It's not a difficult question to resolve and whether Trump was speaking in his capacity as a candidate vs as Official Presidential duties is absurdly irrelevant.

I was just commenting to a friend on Thursday about Trump having COVID and being and saying that the chances are that could be affecting his body and mind. Remember, his case was much more severe than what the public was told.
I agree about the possibility of covid being a factor, but dt was awful before covid. Anyone who was willing to pay attention knew dt was NOT a good businessman (or human) at least as far back as the 1990's.

I used to build tv scenery and convention, and all the in house bullshit that Silly Con valley produces to pat themselves on their backs- Apple was the worst to work for- they were relentless in pitting us against our nearest competitor in the local scenery biz till we got together and shut them out.

The whole American justice system needs an overhaul. YouR supreme court delaying decisions cause they’re conservative - are you kidding. Judges are supposed to be independent like in Canada or the UK.

At first I was pissed about dems saving Johnson's job, but then I realized as deplorable as Johnson and his views are, McCarthy would be worse. Our entire political system at this point just amounts to going with the lesser of two evils and it sucks major ass.

Yes it feels feel like a calendula is sitting on top of it all. At the base it probably is, way down low. Because if one goes up, the other side adds a new homeless one on. Alcohol and mechanics are the rugs being pulled.
Ironically, only a couple weeks before this news came out, I was reading a BBC article about a man who experienced horrible headaches. He went to a doctor who found a live worm,, and the doctor had to operate immediately or the man would die within half-an-hour. And yes, it was attributed to improperly / undercooked contaminated pork. The article stated how its unlikely to occur in the US due to FDA standards, but regardless, not impossible. RFK Jr has seemed like he has been off his rocker, and I attributed it to drug abuse in the 1960s and 1970s, but now this new information perhaps explains SOME of his non-reality-based perspectives. To me, it just seems like the brain damage caused by this dead worm merely compounded an already damaged brain.

Republicans believe in trickle down economics, which has been proven over and over to be ineffective (unless you’re of the billionaire class). The Democratic Party believes in building and maintaining a robust middle class, as they are the true engine of the economy. And this philosophy in practice has worked repeatedly. The stats bear this out. So stop picking on typos that are meaningless. Typos in this format are easy to do. But snark like yours is deliberate and unhelpful. No one said that GDP is “entirely” dependent on which party holds the Presidency. They merely quoted the stats for each. Why middle class Americans continue to vote against their own economic self-interest and continue to fall for scare tactics and hate mongering is mystifying.

10:00 Apparently, this sort of thing can happen by eating under-cooked pork. I *think* I'd read about this phenomenon already years ago, but probably dismissed it at the time as an exaggeration or a one-in-a-million kind of thing. But who knows how much truth there is to it in this particular case, since he apparently did use the "a worm ate my brain"-excuse to lower the amount he'd have to pay his ex-wife in alimony.
I'm not sure if I'm more fascinated or scared (probably both) by the fact that the US now has two candidates in the presidential race that suffer from some sort of brain-rot, but ... here we are.
