I appreciate the tutorial. Just a little curious about how those commands work, and will have to revisit the video several times. Chapters would be incredibly useful.. but of course it works fine as it is.. again, this is appreciated.
Just a small nit. There is absolutely no reason to ever refer to a directory as a "folder". There is no such thing as a "folder". There's no need to play mental gymnastics in order to accommodate both descriptions when we know that 1 of them is completely invalid.. The term "folders" was introduced as part of Microsoft's clear and obvious tactics to dominate market share by teaching users habits they'd carry with them for decades (and teach others). It's the same thing Apple does on the keyboard with their ridiculous Command and Options keys. Learn to recognize and avoid these traps and stick with the standards. This does look like an interesting piece of work and I'm looking forward to spending some time checking it out. Thumbs up.
during the etc shadow segment he says the last :: is the date the account will expire but on the picture it shows the date the password will expire is it the account expiration or password expiration
sudo passwd -S testuseraddm testuseraddm P never 0 99999 -1 -1 How is this meant to be read, i read it as username, lock/pw, last pw change, min pw age, max pw age, pw inactive, expir acct date
It would be great to have, at least, added timestamp, or broken the video into series of short playlist. It is intimidating to see a 19½ plus hour video without content guide.
@blademan7671 It has nothing to do with Stallman. It is simply wrong attribution. The Linux foundation does develop the core utilities. You would not call Chrome a Windows browser.
I'm not sure why this video popped up or even why I'm watching it... I hate the command line. It's 2025. Why isn't all of this terminal stuff supported in the GUI? Terminals just make everything more difficult. I hate them, and most other people also hate them.
Only the weak minded rely on the GUI (jk)... The most appealing aspect for most Linux enthusiasts is the ability to get hands on. Linux is more than a OS. It's hobby, for alot of tech enthusiasts. An d ultimately the CLI is more efficient in alot of cases. Most production servers are headless.
Video too slow paced, no time stamps, all he basically did was create a Linux video from a Linux tutorial book he has. Video tutorials are NOT good for learning Linux or programming. Just get a book it so much easier to learn

Thanks for sharing. Surely yo mean the GNU command line. Linux has no command line, it is only a kernel.
Agree, but the Richard Stallman debate about GNU/Linux ended long ago.

@EvoPortal make your own then.
@@Rushama I just bought a book. It's so much easier and faster to learn from than these low quality youtube videos.
@MichaelsTechTutorials Thank you so much for all this work!
