Hey Jeremiah, great video! - Just letting you know that most companies still require a bachelor's degree so coding bootcamp graduates shouldn't expect that this training will replace a 4 year degree for employment.
I have over 20 years experience full stack and in my new role I am the tech lead for a group that includes some very green developers like right of college whom I am to guide and lead. They are diamonds in the rough and remind me of myself over 20 years ago. Your videos are helpful in how I should lead them. Thanks.
Would you mind sharing what your salary growth has looked like over the years? I'm looking to switch professions entirely, and Full-stack is something that caught my eye.
@@Marthyboy88 Probably depends on where you live but in California there is so much demand for full stack that wages go up fast.
Your straightforwardness is so refreshing to me! I love that I can take you at face value.. you're not trying to sell anything just leaving an honest review. Not trying to be extra or over-the-top. Smooth background music and edits. Sense of humor, well spoken but not overly concern about words. so laid back, but clearly intelligent. Happy to subscribe. I came here to get an insight on the dojo bootcamp experience. Thank you for being transparent with how you included the program in your day to day life. Very neat.
Such a nice comment, I’m glad you liked this vidoe!
Awesome to see someone who is like myself. I am on my path to being a self-taught engineer/developer and I am glad I found your channel. Keep up the great work.
Junior, visibility is super important. This is the reason why . Melaneted coding for 2022 . Bukola is out here putting women with melanin on the map too.
Gotta love Bukola! She was great to look up to when I was starting
truly the GOAT - always stoked to see a new video
Always stoked to see you in the comments! Glad you like it !
Hey everyone. I'm a network engineer who wants to complete OSCP .
Just checked coding dojo for my Python curve...I don't know much programming, but am here to learn with you all!
From this video, I can definitely tell that I'd be more than happy to participate and will go ahead to sign up with codingdojo's community.
Unfortunately in these rough time, I've come to need to make a choice to move...And support my family, so ...You get it, I'm sure.
Hope I can find some real friends...Cause it's been...A rough time!
I went through coding dojo last year. It is truly a wonderful experience and great instructors. The instructor you had I actually had him as a TA great guy. I also went through another bootcamp but coding dojo is way more organized and responsive. While in between jobs I actually decided to go back to coding dojo for their c# stack this month.
And you got me craving Zaxby's again, I had the same exact sandwhich yesterday lol
Diff between bootcamp and dojo?
I have to ask, did you have any trouble getting a job with coding boot camp alone? I see so many tech companies now saying they won’t even consider resumes with boot camp alone and no degree.
your lunch break was incredibly entertaining, realllllly hope management does something about that salad.
but also, 7:41 is a very useful tip for someone who is venturing into this world - so, thank you!
This is an excellent review. I’m going to print and laminate this!
Thanks for coming, man! I’ll see you around the interwebs.
I'll be back... maybe... someday lol
Been doing so much research on becoming a software developer , excited for my journey next year. This coming year I’m just gonna prepare myself before I sign up. In your opinion, what should I mainly focus on so when I do go to boot camp I’m not completely lost. (Side note: never coded in my life)
Get a cs bachelor's degree first and then a master's. Nobody hires bootcampers anymore
@@TensorWave thats bs bro my friend just got hired from graduating bootcamp
@@Purp2ools Yeah? Is your friend still working there? I'm also brand new to this and currently enrolled in an online course. I'm hoping this can turn into something for me.

Do you think a coding bootcamp would be the best place to start for someone with no coding experience? Is there something else you highly recommend doing first? Or rather?
I recommend playing around with coding before jumping right into a coding bootcamp. I definitely think coding Boot camps are great, just make sure you enjoy creating software first. Try freecodecamp.org if you want to dip your toes into coding.
The content we need 👏🏾
Then content you deserve lol
Love your humor
I'm going to be in that bootcamp atmosphere soon but i'm excited cuz I geared up by taking lots of courses.
I hate going into places without not knowing anything
Cheers bro !
Congrats on taking the next steps! Which bootcamp are ya going to?
Pretty cool to see someone with the same routine as me. I’m also a boot camp student, I go to the gym like 6-7 in the mornings then I have class from 10-5, and I usually play basketball every other day for a few hours after classes :)
How’d bootcamp go?
Were eager to hear how it went :)
Damn u don’t sleep? 😂
did you have time to work a part time job?
I would love to see their course curriculum, Just to get a mental picture of what to expect. Also you didn’t mention the prices. These are important information that potential students should get easily without having to browse through their website.
and you cant even find it out on there website you have to enroll first and get accepted which is a pain thats not worth it im sure theres better places
Were y’all able to find their pricing?
good content sir, keep doing what you are doing ✊
I was to learn game development with Unity but I’m having a hard time finding a bootcamp for it. I would also much rather prefer in person classes instead of online because from my experience i learn faster when I don’t have all the distractions of being in my own room.
Pick unity official course for game development. It will get you solid foundation you can build up on.
This was a really neat way to do a sponsored vidrio, if that’s what you’d call it. I missed that part if it was.
But yeah, really cool setup with them to lean in to show a little insight into the boot camp.
Yeah this is a sponsored video. Super happy you enjoyed it. I’d like to travel out and sit in on a in person class.
You’re the smart one; prepackaged bs for the sheep. Buy, buy, buy because I know what’s best for you.
Thanks for the CO mug love! I grew up in Summit County :O

Thank you so much for the video!! Also has anyone ever told you that you favor the actor Mamoudou Athie??
On a brighter note, I did enjoy your video.
That intro lmao! Subbed!
Hi, Jeremiah.
It 1month and one week in my bootcamp. Any advise for me, i feel overwhelmed. Help!

Holy sht how did I miss this upload?? This is dope, just weirded out by the part where you did Tabatas in jeans lmao
I was waiting for you to comment lol. I am not getting changed for a 4 minute exercise!

So I've done CSS and HTML coding before but it's been a couple years. So I technically have some basic experience. I'm wondering if taking one of these bootcamps would be worth it? Like could it help me start a career?
How are you doing now? When I was in highschool I did some things with CSS and HTML using dreamweaver (a Adobe application used to create websites) so I know a little too but that was also 2 years ago
I see you my boy!!
Yeahh I'm on the internet now!
I’m day 2 in the bootcamp man and I’m nervous and really doubting myself, just gonna grind out some sleepless nights
It’s normal to be nervous! Hit us up in discord if you need help
How’s it going so far?
How did it go? I hope you were able to pull through
How did you do ?
Man the production is dope but lease don’t stop

I love your content, and Im so excited to dive into this world of tech ! BTW i wanted to know how old you are. Im 25 and I cant help but to feel like I discovered my love for coding so late LOL
25 is not late at all!
Is it hard getting a job as a software engineer once your done with school ?
Thank you!
Welcome!
You look like that actor from that Netflix show archive 81
I am someone who has never written a single line of code. I'm not sure what it involves but it's something that intrigues me, and I would like to learn. I'm not the smartest person in the world i wouldn't say i am the best learner in the world either but i learn from doing hands on the most. I have a full-time job a wife zero kids is this something i could do realistically with a full-time job? I'm a plumber but i really want a career change math is definitely not one of my strengths. I'm not horrible with computers in general I've used them most of my life I'm 24 and im looking for some sense of direction.
i would like to get into this but there website doesn’t show any prices until you already enroll and you have to do all these steps first just to enroll seems very scammy to me
They share their pricing. I believe they have a handful of different payment options
www.codingdojo.com/coding-bootcamp
Bro idk if anybody will agree, but your humor and looks/vibe made me think of Marlon Wayams
I would like to discuss about a plan of action for somebody that has a GED or somebody that has somewhat of an understanding about coding.
The goal is to create a property that is all inclusive literally a piece of Real Estate that includes living and coding in two separate areas. Coding boot camp would be located downstairs in a We-Work area and living upstairs. Do you believe that combining those in a piece of Real Estate could be easier for somebody that is not knowledgeable about coding and getting into it or creating teamwork for companies?
Okay hmu on IG or my discord. Let;s chat
My apologies I was just notified you replied
Bro definitely said salad but got a Kickin chickens meal you not slick 😂😂

quick with the sub! Thanks!
Are there coding bootcamp that has social interaction to a minimum? I hate talking in front of a class..
heyyy i’m thinking about getting into coding and i was wondering how did you self teach yourself it all
I went through a Udemy course and spent like 6-8 hours a day for 4 months. But I could only do this because I was deployed and that’s basically all I could do
@@JeremiahPeoples hello mate have you got any courses in particular u used ?
haha they put a ton of fries. I legit busted out.
Haaa it's the unscripted bits that do it lol
What’s a good laptop for front and back end programming on a budget?
I recommend a MacBook Air. That’s what I learned on.
Are coding boot camps still worth it in 2024? A lot of ppl from tech have been laid off and those same people, most likely with CS degrees, will be competing with boot camp grads. I know it’s a tough journey and process, but is it worth it today?
Did you go to Butler University? I saw that Bulldog statue? I'm from Indianapolis.
Good eye! I went for a semester but I dropped out

@@JeremiahPeoples lol you’d be insane not to
Would you suggest doing a part time 12 week program or a 26 week part time? I’m not a fast learner tbh but I think the pros of a 12 week is that I get it done fast. But with a 26 week although it’s hella slow I might have time to digest it. What do you think? I also have 0 experience
26 week imo, you'll learn more, you'll have more time to let it sink in, and that means you're not just regurgitating info.
I agree with Rissa on this one
Hey 👋🏽 I loved your video. I would like to break into tech but going back to school for a computer science degree seems unattainable rn. I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about coding boot camps. I was thinking of starting with Neetcode 150. I was pre-med prior to coming to the realization that I don’t want to work in medicine in the US. I’ve had my fair share of exposure to the natural sciences. Yet, I don’t know the first thing about computer science. Do you have any recommendations?
I’ve heard good things about 100devs
Looks like he was enoying those fries and salad lol
Guys how math heavy is this? I have a learning disability and only have a 4th grade math level but want to get into a job that is computer based because I have left side cerebral palsy and the older I get the muscles are just going to get tighter so computer jobs are pretty much a must

I'm considering enrolling into a bootcamp next year and this might seem like a silly question but why are they so damn expensive? Like yeah they buy you time but after the 3 months you know just the basics and even though it's a great kickstart, you can't physically manage to learn what people with a CS degree work on for years, right? That said, I'm aware of the perks but like thousands of dollars and they can't even guarantee that you'll get a job. I don't want to come across as oblivious, so please correct me if I'm wrong as I'd love to hear your opinion. Cheers!
Tis an investment and a preferences.
College kids are investing 4 years and ~80K on a CS degree with the hope to get a high paying tech job.
Bootcamp folks are investing 3 - 4 months and ~15K for the hope to get a high paying tech job.
Don’t do a coding bootcamp, waste of money, this video is sponsored. Do the Odin Project or 100devs on twitch/youtube

@@JeremiahPeoples I did Coding Dojo onsite back in 2016/2017 so I had a very different experience than the one you were given. I think you break down the tradeoff betweeen a CS degree and a bootcamp very well on a macro level.
I would only like to add that I found that the folks that I saw find the most success with landing a job they wanted were the ones putting in more than normal working hours (60-80 hrs/wk.) We ended up completing the course, spending more time on personal projects, getting a firmer grasp on Data Structures and Algorithms, and utilizing the learning techniques/exercises to pick up technology that wasn't even offered at the Dojo.
I think bootcamps can be exceptionally effective at providing motivation and learning structure to an area of study that is immensely vast and opaque. One of the features that I initially undervalued that a bootcamp provides (where being self-taught often doesn't) is camaraderie. This is particularly useful when trying to overcome difficult technical problems and surmounting discouraging situations (ie. the ever-present nagging voice telling you to give up ever so often because of difficult schedule and amount of information you're absorbing.)
Jeremiah, this potential loss of camaraderie is probably my largest concern when comparing an Online experience vs an Onsite experience. Did you feel that there were good bonds between the members of a cohort?
The simulation is crazy, the odds of you going to Butler University…
It’s a small world. We’ve all have been to a Butler at one point lol

Hey there, I am currently a research and development lab engineer and work full time. I would like to learn coding/programming and possibly switch careers.
