I’m enjoying your videos! I just found them after seeing you on Brighton’s video! Very informative! I’m loving the vibe!
Thanks for tuning in, so glad you found me & you're enjoying the videos! If you have any questions you know where to find me :)
Great editorial without wasting time! You sum it up perfectly and I agree with everything from my experiences in Mexico. Especially the safety! After my wreck between Tampico and Veracruz in the middle of nowhere I was taken home by my nurse and they let me stay in their kids room until I was well enough to fly back to the US. I still tell them that they flew me the wrong way!! I was going to Belize. Its been 7 years now and I am ready to get back. Thanks for your videos!!
Oh my gosh what a great story. That's exactly what I mean, the people here are unbelievably kind. Flew you the wrong way lol that's hilarious. Thanks again for tuning in Shannon!
@BlueSkySanctuaryBaja to say that you have made my days better and brighter is a understand! You are the best of all the videos I have seen and let me tell you in the last 7 years I have seen alot. I have remembered so much more about the time I spent in Mexico!! I was going to Belize to stay and never come back but after the wreck I fell in love with the Mexican people and the fact is I found that they are very good people! Much easier to get along with and even more so than Belizean. Thank you for your time and story!! Have a great day!
@@Shannon-u8v Aw, how touching, thank you Shannon! Well Mexico is going to welcome you back with open arms as soon as you're ready to return, that's for sure. Thanks always for your kind words, you take care! 🌞
@@BlueSkySanctuaryBaja I still have a little trouble saying things exactly right. I actually see exactly what I was planning to do in everything you have. I just had a little set back and it's probably for the best.I am so happy for you and to watch your videos on your journey. I don't mean to sound so awkward. It's just that you have absolutely the right amount of everything as I would have. I have been in construction and general contracting most of my life and after retiring to raise my two sons I flipped a few homes and properties. Yes ma'am! I am ready to get back to work!! Thanks again!
You could do an entire video on "knick knacks", you got "knick knacks" hanging everywhere! I look forward to the upcoming "knick knack" video, and of course the cactus tutorial🌵. #cement
Do I? Lol there's a lot that needs to be organized & put away.. Stuff laying around, forcing me to surrender because I can't get it all done in a timely manner. Knick knack's a nice way to refer to the clutter I suppose ;)
Spot on with these! With time you can find local help with all that you need help with (from English speaking locals). Bilingual indeed is the way to go. I love this channel as I find it peaceful. Veda spoke of the healthcare... there is the public healthcare system and a more advanced private healthcare system for more money of course. I'd love for you to do a video on the organic food you are eating there. I'm sure you have heard about the food crisis being exposed here in America. Will those cactus give you tunas?
Thanks again Mphscat, I'm so glad you continue to enjoy the channel, and that you find it peaceful too, that's awesome. I try to keep it peaceful here at the Sanctuary. I also appreciate you continuing to encourage me to share about food & health, I promise I will. I've just begun my gardens this past year, I look forward to having much more in time. The cactus I have here will mostly produce dragonfruit but thanks to you & a quick Google search you helped me learn that I do indeed have cactus here that will produce tunas!! Thanks for the heads up! ❤🙏👌
@@BlueSkySanctuaryBaja My Mexican husband taught me about the tunas which grow on the cactus! I've seen them in the wild which is very cool as is your way of life there. I'm Candis if I have not said.
@@Mphscat Ah very cool. I love that I got to learn something new from you, thanks again Candis! (and thanks for sharing your name too, although I like Mphscat too ;)
@@BlueSkySanctuaryBaja That works too lol :))
Wonderfully informative video! Thank you BSS!!
Thank you @adventurefreaksss!
I recommend just a private medical insurance, that covers that emergencies, and you paid once per year or every months or quarterly, they do have it and cover mostly mayor medical unexpected expenses
That would be a very safe route to take, I agree, thanks for sharing.
Jajaja no sirven esas cosas ya mataron a uno
Excellente..im envious of what you have done in Mexico... In my plans..
Muchas gracias.. wishing you all the best with your plans.
Brill vid, fam. It’s Baja for me. Looked inland, but well, yeah….west coast!
Agreed, the best deal will not be online. Cheers.
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it! And hells yeah west coast Baja, it's pretty darn paradisial, cheers!
@@BlueSkySanctuaryBaja Cool! great word....I plan on being a nirvanian; Ensenada summer, TS winter.
@@alx7157 Haha I agree. I still remember the first time I heard that word. I had to google it yesterday to make sure I was spelling it right, but it's the best word to describe this place imo. A nirvanian in paradise is a fine plan ;)
@@BlueSkySanctuaryBaja Indeed, especially relevant to me as Nirvana since they were my hometown homies.
And don't forget how cheap the fire starter is! Mine does not go into the septic either:)
Haha right? I love burning my tp, it's the best fire starter!
Good luck and God bless 🙏
Thank you, igualmente 🙏
I appreciate the video and was wondering if you can drive that far down into Mexico without a permit? The area we were thinking of South of AZ you can drive so far and then it requires a permit for your car.
Hey Grandpa RLP, it's been awhile! I confess I don't know what permit you're referring to. It's been about 7/8 years since I drove down from Canada, I don't remember getting a permit no.. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Nice video!
Thank you!
❤😊
For sure, I retired in Bali to far from my Canadian Family😮
Mm yeah I feel you. I felt sooo far from home when I was in Thailand. It's beautiful over there though, and the food is the best!
Congrats! You are really doing it! And making it work all so well. I’ve been traveling all over Latin America and Europe for the best place to relocate from USA - I would love to chat with you about buying land in todos Santos - that’s the top place for me to settle down - very similar reasons as you- what’s the name of your neighborhood- I think I looked at land there several months ago
Thank you! I'm super grateful for how things are working out. I'm not inclined to share my specific location or neighborhood on line sorry, but I do offer coaching/consulting. My email address is blueskysanctuary.baja@gmail.com if I can be of service, cheers!
I've never heard anyone make the analogy between the certainty and safety of a Feidecomiso bank trust through a Mexican bank vs having a mortgage with a bank in the US or Canada. You hit the nail on the head. There is nothing certain when you have a mortgage. You don't own your house. The bank does. They just allow you to keep your clothing there. As my Dad once said, "If you think no one cares, try missing a payment." 🙂
Agreed.
Just for fun... look up Latin origin for "mortgage".
AND! just miss a couple property tax pmts in the USA -they will take your property and sell it!
@ You got that right. And taxes in the US are sky high and they’re forever.
My property taxes in the US were $970 per month. On my Mexico home, $240/year! And, guess which one has the ocean view? Viva Mexico!!! 🇲🇽😊
Haha thanks Rick, I always enjoy your perspective & appreciate you weighing in. Okay I confess it's pretty easy to say that because we always agree but that aside! 😆 I did some research, 1 in 5000 mortgages in the US end in foreclosure. Banks. Daylight robbers, all day every day.
@@brandonteq Oh that is hilarious. death pledge, wow! What a great fun fact lol thanks for sharing.
What country are you a citizen of?
I'm Canadian. I have Temporary Residency in Mexico, which will turn into Permanent next year.
I notice you use the word "us" several times in your vlogs, can you explain why
Yes we all want to know?
It's not the first time I've been asked this question. I might've added it to the list of 5 questions but it wouldn't be helpful to the majority who tune in lol. Anyway. It's a curious question imo. If I simply use I all the time, I'll sound totally self absorbed very quickly. Besides that, it's not always just me. For example, 'it's easy for us to drive back & forth to Canada' It's not just easy for me, but for my family, friends, ect.. 'We have cities an hour north & south of here..' again not just me, but everyone that lives here has that. 'We built this or that.' I don't generally build stuff on my own, I have workers who help a great deal. Ect Ect Ect.
@@2012zk see my answer, just above or below por favor, gracias.

Hi I have a couple of questions. How often do you here fireworks go off there? I have two cats and I’m struggling with finding a good quiet place in Mexico that would constantly upset them. Second question, I’m a big hiker. If you hike do you feel free and comfortable? Are the cartel in those mountains in Baja? I worry about being limited to exploring and hiking without accidentally running into a drug farm and getting shot down.
Hi there. Fireworks definitely go off here, esp at this time of year (Christmas/NY's) It makes my dogs very nervous. I usually just bring them in until it's over. As for the cartel in the mountains, I have no idea, but I definitely feel safe walking the beach, the sierra, in town, and on popular trails that take you over mountain ridges.
How much is a lot in your community.?
It varies, but roughly 50k for 1000sq meters, 20m x 50m typically.
You can eat the nasal and aloe. Thanks.
I meant the Nepali. Sorry.
@@LReneeMorris Ah, I figured you meant the basil & aloe, but yes, I put the aloe in my smoothies when I remember, and I'm learning more about eating the cactus, thanks for the heads up!
Prickly pear are the fav food of pack rats. Beware!
Thanks for the head's up!
So the bank owns the property legally. You as a foreigner don’t really own it. The bank carries the legal documents.
If you want to own property in the restricted areas (close proximity to the ocean and or border) the Trust agreement you have with the bank allows you to do that. So yes, you could say you don't own it, but as I said in the video, even though you would say you 'own' your property up north, in reality the property is owned by the government, and the house, if you default for a few months on your mortgage, will be taken by the bank, so in my opinion, it's 6 of one half a dozen of the other. As the beneficiary of the 'legal documents' I am in complete control of my property, and the bank can't 'do' anything with it with out my expressed consent, so it's hard for me to see them as the owner, though I can see how it can be argued that they are.
@@BlueSkySanctuaryBajaif you don’t pay your property taxes they can take it away from you in the US
Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?
??
Where are some of these people getting their information from .Over 1 Million Americans and Thousands of Canadians live in Mexico many of them own property in Mexico .If Mexico was so Dangerous and the cartel was coming after Americans and Canadians ,trust me the American and Canadian population in Mexico would be much smaller . The Cartel is not interested in Americans $1,500 a month social Security checks .They have bigger fish to fry . The Cartel want Americans and Canadians down in Mexico so that they can spend their money there and then the Cartel go in and extort Mexican businesses .AS far as I remember Americans or foreigners can buy /own property in Mexico just not beach front property or so many miles from the ocean .Maybe it's different now laws change all the time .
Thanks so much for weighing in Richard, yeah it really is incredible how common the fear of the cartel is, it comes up on my channel CONSTANTLY. Maybe it's for the best otherwise there'd be too many US & Canadian citizens down here ;)
We are getting invaded.
Who is we, and who are we getting invaded by?
@BlueSkySanctuaryBaja you are invading México.
You are bringing to México your homosexual propaganda, your stupid sports, your sheep mentality.
Everything is more expensive becausse ofr peoole like u, the food ,the bills, rent, medical services.
