      This would be a great item to put on our ambulances . But what my question is about Dr . Mellick is how that's going to effect SpO2 , Co2 , and PcO2 while ventilating ? What could we expect as paramedics using this device on patients in cardiac arrest with resuscitation being attempted with CPR ?

    Ok, first of all, as a lover of jazz, I'm totally digging that background music! What is the song & artist? Second, I love the pertinent information this channel provides even though I am nowhere near being in med school. 😉 Third, hope they bring the show "Stuck" back to TLC so everyone can see some more of the cases your medical staff has worked on!😉

      Thanks. Don't know the name of the music as it is canned music. I understand STUCK did very well and that TLC is planning on bringing it back. Unfortunately, because the first show had some not so family friendly content outside of my material, the board of trustees for the University and Dean have forbidden me to continue. It was fun while it lasted.

      @@lmellick What?? So unfortunate. Well, hopefully people will make the effort to look for this page on UA-cam after seeing your team on tv. Take care & thank you for responding!!😉

    What an ingenious device! The music reminded of an 80’s movie or show, Fantasy Island came to mind. 😂

    I wish we carried this on my rig. Love the suction option.

    I know of at least 1 patient where, had this been available, may have had a better outcome. Ended up trying jet insufflation with the old 3-way-tap technique but that's really not great.

    I like this gadget! Does it have a filter for the expired air or should the user just be cautious of droplets?

    • @lmellick
      @lmellick  2 роки тому +1

      No filter that I know of.

    This is amazing. If interested for ambulance, where can this be purchased/acquired? Any idea of cost?

    Honestly never would've thought you could get that much airflow through a 14g lumen

      I know. I am very impressed with this device, and we are stocking both the university ED and the pediatric ED with the Ventrain.

    Is there any way to integrate end-tidal CO2 monitoring to confirm placement of the catheter?

      @@lmellick Thanks for sharing! I'm still struggling to see how you could get from luer lock on the catheter hub to an in-line end tidal CO2 device with a 22 x 15 mm adapter and then back to the luer lock tubing coming from the device. Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated! I went to the manufacturers site and could only find info on CO2 sampling not being available in the USA currently.

      @@NCNoleMetalhead Very true, you can verify, but then remove and hook back up to the Ventrain for ventilation. I am really sold on this device for TTJV. Up until now we have not had anything that was this safe in regard to decreasing risk for barotrauma or actually ventilating in a closed off airway situation.
