I feel like all these children will try to get emancipated when they're 16 and it will come out that their parents took/spent all the money they made off the children... it's the new wave of sad child stars that become damaged, lonely, and broke, by no fault of their own, people they worked hard for nothing.
I agree with you. They’re already spending all the money they’re making on their children! And it’ll all be dried up by the time their fame is gone/the kids don’t want to be involved.
It must mess with their perception of reality and memory so much looking back and knowing all of these moments are edited and constructed to form some kind of narrative://
the whole act of fun wholesome family shenanigans while they’re all just staring straight into the camera the whole time is so fucking creepy to me. I always get the feeling that once the cameras are off they barely speak to each other.
Not as bad as the husbands that have their backs to their wives smiling and talking into a camera as they give birth.... so cringe. Put the camera down and be present with your wife and soon to be child
Also I put pressure on the kids like you gotta be happy you got it being some activities or else your family won’t make money and now I feel like it’s their fault they have nice stuff and they want to keep it
Child actors and Disney stars grow up having identity crisis and trauma. BUT they are acting and it’s staged. Imagine having your parents as your manager and not feeling safe in your own home. Not knowing if your parents will wake you up with a prank and cameras in your face.
Ugh yeah. And feeling like you’re constantly having to perform/work and can’t just have fun and be a kid. They’re making these kids grow up real fast which is unfortunate
If you can’t tell your parents who could you ever be comfortable telling that you feel this way? Makes it such a bigger leap of trust to tell someone outside your family. Makes me so sad
Im just imagining the kids growing up and vlogging the parents in their nursing home “YOOOO dads going into cardiac arrest” “nononononono don’t die ahaha”
I think the darkest thing about family vlogs is that I used to watch them as a kid because my own family was so dysfunctional and I found comfort in seeing a "happy family"
My cousin's family does family blog videos and I watch them since my mom is so disappointed in me that we've never talked to each other in 3 months. Our dad is the only one that me and my sister communicate to. I'm really scared when school starts since we have these family activities.. I feel like a disappointment since I basically dragged my sister down with me. If I could turn back time and chose what to change it would be me. I don't wanna be myself. The internet is the only thing giving me joy rn. I hope things go well for the rest of a year.
They worst part for me is that the kids never really consent for all this mess and the parents just blatantly exploit them without really realizing the implications of this on the kids.
And even if they agree, they can't really consent, they don't understand the implications, and they're raised with the expectation that they will make them money.
The parents completely realize the implications. They just don't give a shit because it makes them money and they put making money before their kids. Sad, but true.
I was researching this exact thing to see if there is a way to strengthen child labor laws for the Internet so that parents have to clock hours filmed and profit and report it to their employer (I.e. UA-cam).
Yah Man Its p much child labour 😯especially in kid centered channels. Theres this Very famous kid Channel Lucas neto here in brazil and he literally employs a child in his work and trademark.. shes in all the vídeos w him and also theyre not related!!! Its all só ominous and exploitative
They do not need that people feel sorry for them. They are so spoilt and grow up in such a sick environmnet that they see and treat others like a piece of sh*t. Sadly, there are many people who just consume this garbage without realizing the truth behind it and how sickenning it is. If nobody watch this garbage, they would not exist....
The saddest part is that these "family vlogs" are probably targeted towards kids that may not have a great home environment in their own lives. Kids use these vlogs as an escape to experience a "loving" family, even though everything they're watching is fake, materialistic and played-up for views.
that’s why i loved watching full house as a kid, lol. my dad had passed away so i guess i liked watching a show about a family with multiple positive father figures.
I've always wondered why these are popular but that completely makes sense. My friend's daughter watches these even tho she has a great home life bc she loves kids and babies (she's 10.) I think that is probably a huge reason for all these views and that's so sad
Filming something to be seen by others takes you out of that moment, at least to some extent.... A family vlog channel basically means that you have parents who are there, but *not there*, for the majority of your childhood, family time, and life events.
look up the stauffer family. they had a semi-popular channel with their kids, then adopted a child from China which made their channel blow up, and then had another kid after. they then "rehomed" their adopted son. horrifying.
"im not a parent" yeah but you're a human and that's why it feels wrong. We ARENT supposed to be living this way. Really sad cant imagine what the kids are going through and the lasting damage.
100%! As a NEW parent to 7 month old twins...one of your BIGGEST FEARS is your baby falling/being dropped. I would literally FUCK up whoever played the prank. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
And aside from just the humanity of it, I think a lot of us are old enough to have seen the progression of the internet and technology and it’s not natural for us to have absolutely everything online and documented and we see the difference in children today. It’s not healthy for the normal person to live through a lens and these children are doing that x1000. I really hope some kind of legislation is introduced at some point bc these children are going to have huge issues later in life.
The fact that this isn’t considered child abuse still shocks me.... they are literally using their kids for monetary gain, how sick, I could and would NEVER. I feel so bad for these kids (money isn’t everything).
@@charleyduffell5239 It is abuse though. Child abuse is basically anything that inflicts violence on someone underage, which includes emotional abuse, neglect, profiting off them, and filming a crying infant instead of comforting them because their tears make good content. Just because the abuse isn't physical, that doesn't make it any less horrible
That's true, but unfortunately this has been around since before UA-cam. Baby pageant shows, nanny shows, etc. This is a deeply rooted societal problem that needs to be addressed at a large scale.
look at the demographics of the people following these kids, specifically young females, on instagram (who should never have them in the first place). look at everleigh labrant, she has so many followers who are middle-aged men. there are so many videos of her dancing in a suggestable manner in revealing outfits. why do you really think these men are watching/following an 8-year-old girl?
the money makes it kinda worse! youtube kids have still no rights or protection from parents spending the income freely. decades ago many tragic stories were uncovered of famous child actors turn 18 and be BROKE. millions of hard earned dollars gone and no future in the film industry leftm
I feel like in a few years when these children grow up they'll come out exposing what the constant vlogging and online attention did do their mental health and self worth, which I gotta say must be pretty damaged
Yeah, it’s probably along the same lines of child actors. Except literally every day they were put on the internet. And worse, there are no laws to protect these guys, unlike child actors
I agree and disagree. I feel like they’ll just continue the cycle since it’s easier and that’s all they know. It’s pretty disappointing but yeah so are family channels lol
There actually have been a few young teens who have come out about their lives as vlog children. Its been thoroughly studied as well. I’d recommended looking up “family vlogs effects on children”
scariest part is that we literally don't know the effects of this yet. we are all watching and know its off, but in 15 to 20 years that future generation may be looking back and say "why was everyone ok with straight child abuse." Like these people could be responsible for real legislative change if their kids lives are ruined.
right? theyre this generations olsen twins and look what happened to them. they said being a child star was terrible and they wouldnt wish it on any child.
literally!! especially since its such a new form of whats essentially just child abuse that there havent really been any studies on it or laws set in place to prevent it yanno
Children in Hollywood have laws that protect their earnings. UA-cam kids don’t have that legal protection yet. They’re working without any guarantees of being paid for their work
i don't think that kids can consent to putting their whole childhood on the internet. sure, to a ten year old, it would seem cool to be on camera and have a lot of subscribers, but when they're adults, even teenagers, their opinions are going to change. if i was an adult and knew that my whole childhood was spent being on camera and making videos for other people to watch and have opinions on, i'd be so uncomfortable. and on top of that, knowing that those videos are still on the internet for anybody to watch would be very unsettling. this just really doesn't sit well with me.
I wouldn't even put pictures of my kids on Facebook. They're people and they have the right to decide for themselves if they'd like to be on the internet or not. Parents act like they own their children and it's disgusting
Poor people that have no business getting that kind of wealth tend to have ZERO taste. If it wasnt for social media, these people would be working at McDonald's. They are completely unproductive members of society that lucked into millions, so it's not surprising that they lack any sense of self-awareness.
Yeah and he would lose any custody rights... ESPECIALLY WITH THE EVIDENCE ON VIDEO. But instead this trauma is turned into cold hard cash💀 where is the logic
I feel like it's also kind of dangerous to put that kind of prank in a kids channel, especially since there is always no consequences for anyone, it's always "ohhhh haha you got me!!" I feel like at least one of the kids watching is going to throw a baby doll off the stairs and give their parents a literal heart attack because "they saw it on youtube"
And another thing is that most family channels don’t have any respect for their children’s privacy, I remember a family that literally vlogged when their daughter got her period. I would feel so violated and these children probably couldn’t even say no bc they didn’t want to disappoint their parents.
I’ve seen some family channels posting “our daughter got her first period!” It seems weird there first priority is to post it on the internet. There’s some weird people on the internet and I also can’t imagine how that girl must feel having that stuff cast for usually millions.
right it must be hard growing up and realized your parents prioritized money by invading your privacy rather than how you would feel and how this could affect u in the long run. even if at the time their daughter says she’s ok with that being posted, that’s not an excuse bc that’s all she knows, and she knows it’s what her parents want. she isn’t old enough to know the real life effects of having her whole life public
Seriously what's wrong with these people that only see their kids as objects to be used for making money instead of human beings with thoughts and feelings
''Mom.... Dad.... I'm been thinking for a long time about whether I'm a boy or a girl.... And.... I think I might be trans'' .... ''Sorry... say that again, it wasn't recording.''
There was this family channel that adopted a kid with autism from China and they already had a bunch of kids; not only would the parents do "family time" w their biological kids after sending the boy to bed, effectively shunning, him but also there were times in which the mom filmed him "throwing fits" when in reality it was basically him having sensory overloads bc of his autism and she would just dismiss it and leave him to cry out. It was a pretty big case about a year ago bc they ended up giving him up, or as they said in their own video "having to REHOME him". The absolute gall of this people. Sucks that they basically neglected the little boy and caused him more trauma but I guess I'm glad he's no longer being pimped out for views on youtube. Tom Harlock made a pretty lenghty video about the subject.
@@xGwen6661 The fact that they'd have their family time without him and stuff is awful because it's acting like he isn't part of the family but filming him instead of just acting like a parent and helping him when he has sensory overloads is just over the top. I don't know why some people are like that. I hope that where he is now he's treated with love and has amazing parents.
Mom, dad I’m dying OMG REALLY? WHY DIDNT U TELL US SOONER I’m sorry dad- Hey get the camera 🥺📷 are u dying baby? Awww guys make sure u hit that subscribe button 1 like equals one dead kid in our house, anyways check out my 100 million dollar mansion
Man, childhood is such an important phase. The negative stuff sticks, just as much as the positive. Those insecurities and fears you have as a child can impact you a lot if they're not dealt with in a healthy way. I can't imagine how badly it will affect these children to be raised this way. They have no privacy, all of their relationships are shallow and fake. Nothing can be genuine. They can't have a discussion with their parents without a camera in their face and millions watching. The psychological damage, ugh
I agree with you except for one thing aside from the really exploitative family channesl what if they're realationships are real but it's just a facade in front of the camera but they go back to being actual responsible parents or maybe that's too much to ask in this world
No shit. One scene of a movie you walk into when you're 8 can affect you up into your 20s. And that's obviously not a big deal but it still did shit. Now imagine the obviously fucked up things anyone with a brain can see is wrong, that a child goes through.
I agree. Having a deep conversation with your parents (especially about a serious topic) already takes a lot of courage for some kids to do. Knowing that there might be a camera shoved in your face for the whole world to see may discourage the kid from consulting their parents even more. I'm not saying that the parents would put such a conversation on the internet (I'm also not saying they wouldn't). However, just the thought of this alone would be discouraging
right? just knowing about your lack of privacy would be so traumatic. to an extent, all children raised on social media have this issue, and issues with packaging themselves and being treated like objects for the camera. it’s not healthy to constantly be commodified by your own family, it would cause a lot of issues with your own self image
maybe this is just my undergrad psych student disease talking, but every time i start thinking "who could possibly be watching and enjoying family vlog content" when i see a callout video about the ace family or whatever, i hear the parents go "thank you for subscribing, thank you for supporting us, we love you guys so much, our subscribers are all part of our family, every single one, ESPECIALLY if you support us by buying our new merch" and i picture kids out there with terrible home lives and absent parents who keep coming back to the ace family on some level because austin and catherine ace will always tell the kid they love them when their real parents won't. i'd be willing to bet that if you go into their comments section you'll see a bunch of 8 year olds commenting "you guys are so cute i wish you were my parents" which seems like a compliment on the surface but if you think about it for more than a few seconds it just gets really sad. the ace family or the royalty family or whoever don't actually care at all about their subscribers and it's not a healthy family dynamic to exploit your kids for money and views. they milk the sad parasocial relationship they have with their 10 yr old fanbase for money and clout. it probably seems harmless on the surface but young kids are so, so easily influenced by what behaviors are modeled for them, especially in people they perceive as parental/authority figures. idk i'm probably just an oversensitive snowflake but it really just makes me sad. also theyre fckin cringe
I didn’t even think kids watched them cause I thought they’d be bored I thought it was all weird like 30 year olds and up but I guess that makes sense if they do
Damn I never thought about that. I have watched certain people to live vicariously through them on my super duper low days, and it ultimately just makes me more sad. Ugh imagine being a kid and doing that same thing 😭 family vloggers will never stop, they’re just gettin started! 🙄🥺
you’re definitely not an over sensitive snowflake!! I wholeheartedly agree and I never would’ve thought about it like that but you’re absolutely right it’s horrible
The worst part is, is feel like at some point these kids are going to realise what their parents have been doing their entire lives. Because eventually they're going to stumble across a video like this one, and realise that they are nothing more than an asset to their parents, and I can just imagine how damaging that's going to be to their entire world view.
But then they'll be given a $200,000 car for their birthday and stop caring. Probably just start doing drugs and blow all their parents money by the time they turn 25.
there's gonna be a generation of kids growing up with their faces all over the internet. i predict that they wouldn't know how to interact with people the right way due to the fake-acting and their parent's emotional neglect
This shit is so weird and dark. These kids grow up without a moment of authenticity or real emotion in their lives, zero real connection to their protective and nurturing figures in their lives. Also, these families have more and more children BECAUSE of their channels, because they know it'll boost the channel, so whether its conscious or subconscious they are getting pregnant and having babies just for the channel... not out of love. Its gross on every level and these children will grow up traumatised by this behaviour. Thats a psychological fact. A child is in the most critical period of development in their lives at these stages and looking into and speaking to a camera lens throughout the entirety of their childhood, in their own homes, and their own BEDROOMS, what is supposed to be their private, safe space, is NOT normal.
there is/was a family vlog channel that literally adopted an autistic child from china to document the process for views, they were in denial about how serious the child's developmental issues were and they literally GAVE AWAY the child after like a year, it's ridiculous. it's so transparent that they couldn't care less about being good parents, as long as they make money.
@@annie420xx don’t be shy, people should know, it was Myka Stauffer. It is disgusting what they did to that poor child, but I am thankful he’s with a normal, loving family now.
@@annie420xx no worries, she’s forgettable bc without her kids and that “story line”, she’s nothing, like so many other family channels. I just wanted people to know if they stumbled upon the comment and weren’t aware, so she doesn’t get any benefit moving forward. These people make me sick, truly.
It’s almost worse than being a child actor because at least when you’re a kid actor you have the luxury of a somewhat private home life still, this is so bad because the home life is completely catalogued and exploited for public consumption 🤮 No privacy, and no autonomy.
Exactly I find it awful when they release titles like “‘my daughters first period” or revealing private matters to such a public platform. Their exploiting their own children, it really is sad
@EpsilonGoods I don't really blame the parents tbh, our capitalist society values money above all else. These horrible parents are just byproducts of the system.
aren’t there strict child labor laws for child actors specifically to reduce the trauma and exhaustion they get? and these children are just getting filmed 24/7??? something doesn’t sit right with me
There's laws for hollywood and film making. Unfortunately the law hasn't caught up to UA-cam, which is gunna lead to some problems for the kids I feel. The whole situation is terrible. :(
@@mathematics117 Yeah it took forever for the laws to catch up to Reality TV and unfortunate the same thing is happening with UA-cam content. Luckily France already passed some laws similar to Coogan Laws so someone is thinking of the kids.
Only allowed because they are the parents. If they were employers then the kids would be worked less. Parents can basically do whatever with their kids as long as no injury occurs, unfortunately
I hated the way I looked when I was younger, I didn’t even want my mom taking pics of me lmfao. So I can’t imagine having a camera in my face all the time (while growing up, going thru puberty, going thru the motions of just growing up, etc) and like the idea of millions of people viewing those videos would give me hella anxiety. I was already a self conscious kid and that would’ve made it worse for me.
ugh literally i cannot imagine how these kids are gonna end up as like teens, you know they will literally do everything to try and get away from them and some might end up w mentally ill bc i’m sure that shit is in a way hurtful to their mental health
hey, i know selfpromo is annoying but i just spent a few hours editing my vid, i’m not asking for free subs but some genuine feedback on it would be appreciated so I can improve, thanks!
Think it’s probably going to make these kids always feel like they need to be performing. Likely will be bad at sharing feels, discomfort, etc and that can culminate in substance abuse problems or just good ol simple discontentment and unhappiness.
That kid wasn’t a “natural” in front of the camera. He was brought up in front of the camera. The reason he’s so comfortable is because he’s been conditioned to be like that. I can’t imagine the type of trauma that will come from vlogging like this.
I've worked with children in foster care for a long time, and most of them are obsessed with family vloggers. I imagine it's a projection thing, so they can see the normal family things, like vacations and family outings, that a lot of them don't get to experience, and it's depressing to think about.
and it makes the whole thing worse realising that it becomes a cycle for both kids in each situation growing up with a different sense of what it's like to be in a normal family and materialistic values being the end all be all, raising them to become yet more narcissists just like their parents, or traumatised beyond repair
That’s another thing that worries me. I’m scared kids that watch this will grow up expecting their life to be like that, and then end up depressed when their life isn’t as perfect as these family vloggers try to make their lives seem.
“Every child deserves loving parents but not every parent deserves a child,” this really applies to most family vlogging channels. it makes me sick how parents are able to exploit tf out of their children and deem it as okay. it’s such a massive breach of privacy and i hope that in a few years, these kids can sue their parents.
the amount of therapy that these peoples kids will need is astounding & I’m honestly so surprised that there aren’t labor laws protecting kids from this type of potential exploitation yet. they’re literally not old enough to understand the repercussions of their entire lives being on the internet lol like can they even properly (or justifiably) consent ?¿ idk it’s sus & depressing
In The Netherlands the government is trying to change law about child vloggers because they see it as a form of child labour indeed. I totally agree with your post.
There’s an episode of “mom swap” or something like that... and one family has a youtube channel and the other family is just a normal laidback family... at one point in the episode the kids from the youtube family tell the other mom that they DONT EVEN WANT TO RETURN to their mom/parents because they say EVERYTHING they do is filmed & takes the fun out of it all... that was really eye-opening for me, as someone who used to support family channels... these poor kids.
Well good on you to realize and turn it around, bc yea these family channels shouldn’t ever be supported. Any child raised in the limelight of public attention, to the point of practice ally being exploited for money and attention, never goes well. Look at the Olsen twins, who basically from the age they were able to do talk were kind of forced into doing endless television and film programs “for kids”, and how they described their childhood experiences.
I used to get so annoyed when my parents would act differently around me when we were around other people/in public for for the sake of appearances. I can’t imagine if they’d acted like that 24/7...
It honestly is disgusting, using their children as income. and the kids cant even consent. Im sure there are days they don't want to be on camera and "perform" and their parents force them too. Also this content will be on the internet forever, and when they are older they may not want it to be. Home videos are precious memories for families, but these are so fake and not genuine. Also the display of wealth is so gross. they could at least do something inspiring with their money or interesting. These kids will need major therapy, they are child actors in a sense. They will also have a super skewed view of the world growing up when it comes to money etc.
There was a wife swap episode with a family who vlogged and the daughter talked about how she just wanted to spend time with her parents without a camera and how she didn’t want to vlog anymore. She actually didn’t want her mom to come back because of the vlogging. It’s so sad to see these kids basically forced to be on the internet and be ready to perform 24/7.
i actually in a class and i’m a decent friend with a kid from an insanely famous family channel, it’s definitely different than the ace fam and stuff, but they are pretty cool with it
@@maxserafini8127 that’s honestly refreshing to hear. I definitely think that there are positive ways to have a family vlog channel, most definitely, but I can’t help but feel bad for the kids on channels like the ace family or the royal family because it just doesn’t feel authentic at all. But it really is good to hear there are families who vlog in an enjoyable way for everyone:)
as a youth worker i am 100% sure there are kids that are in the system or have an abusive/neglectful home life that are watching these videos and wishing it was them and that’s pretty fucked up
If you want real toxic family content check out that family who does messed up pranks on their kid and stuff 🤦🏻♀️ I think they’re called the Loyal Family. “cheating in front of my daughter prank to see her reaction”, “I don’t want you to be my dad anymore prank on my stepdad” meanwhile the kid is like 10 or some shit
Here's why it feels weird: the children are being exploited. As children they can't legally consent to having photos/videos posted of them online for anyone in the world to see. Most parents don't do that unless there's money in the equation.
Honestly, it’s sick. I’ve seen so many parents doing vlogs obviously intentionally make thumbnails of their child in suggestive poses because they know it’ll get clicks. How can they call themselves parents when they’re exposing their children to online predators?
“i don’t know why people would want to watch someone raise their kids anyways” i used to watch family vlogs in like middle school bc of how fucked up my own family was lmaooo it made me feel normal bc i could still see and have an understanding of living that type of life
There’s a person on tiktok who was the child of a mommy blogger and they’re basically talking about how awful it was and how it damaged the family’s relationship :/
also imagine being stalked as a child and the person knowing EVERYTHING about you. celebrities at least were with body guards and protected from paparazzi exposing tgen.
@@cadence7110 I'd even be fine if my grandma posted a home video on youtube and didn't mKe it private but uhhhhhhh..... giving your kid a script and making them participate in this weird fake perfect family is fjcked up
right id feel so violated if every detail of my childhood was publicly displayed with millions watching. there’s times in our life we are embarrassed of or didn’t want anyone seeing but these kids don’t have a choice, anyone can just google them for the rest of their lives and see their entire home life. plus having to deal with the fact your parents prioritized filming u for money at ur low point like crying, upset, etc instead of being able to set the camera down and comfort you
The kids can never be sad or have a tantrum without the whole world knowing and chiming in. Everything must feel uncomfortable like they're never alone as family.
It's a psychological and class thing. New money vs Old money. New money people who got their wealth recently out of insecurities tend to buy flashy name brand in order to apear wealthy. Ironicly proving their previous broke status. Most social media stars are classic new money. Old money are people who had their money for generations. They tend to hide the fact that they are rich since people act fake or scam them. Old money clothing brands are insanely subtle and exclusive. most people have probably never heard of them. Like Chanel a brand that sells to both for exsample will sell the junky stuff made in a factory to new money folks in their store. like a cheeply made $300 belt. While having exlusive runway shows that they only invite old money insiders. who get to customize and simplify the clothes and accesories after purchase. That cost an entire semester at college. Chanel is a handbag company traditionly. The terms that the fashion industry use are. Ready-to-wear = Broke ass New money bullshit. That isn't different than regular clothes. Haute couture and bespoke= Fancy tailord and unique designer clothes.
@@hayes1035 u just explained that perfectly. And indeed it is not that they only buy gucci or lv but they buy the cheaply made logo things but gucci and so many other luxury brands have the most amazing pieces but regular people can’t buy them bc of their price point. It just seemed to weird to me that rich people bought the ugliest shit from brands in order to let know that they can afford the brand but thanks for explaining
Something I learned very quickly is that if you are strutting around flashing twenty nine brands from head to foot, you are likely to be either 1) being sponsored or 2) insecure about your supposed wealth.
it’s almost like there’s nothing “family” about this. family is supposed to be loving and personal, but holy shorts, these people are just capitalizing off the fact that they’re related.
Bruh, don’t blame them, blame society for allowing this.....Why are millions of people watching this family do absolutely nothing.....just cause the mom is hot asf
Yup, and also popping out babies and recording the births for “content”. It’s actually disgusting. These should be intimate moments captured on film for the family to be able to revisit and cherish, but instead it becomes something to capitalize of off.
@@ThePOPcultureHashira i mean yes but also no. no one was forcing them to start filming their kids & exploiting them. yes absolutely society is messed up for encouraging it, but the adults of the family also should know better, you know?
Family channels like these give me the vibes that the kids are gonna grow up with no boundaries and an altered sense of reality. They might not to be able to empathize as well because they were raised talking to a camera.
Chill out, what ya yellin' for? Lay back, it's all been done before. And if you could only let it be, you will see that I am the funniest YouT*ber of all time. Admit it, my dear follow*r mqx
These kids probably never get genuine interactions with their parents. It sucks to see that when their kid is crying their first instinct is to grab a camera not comfort the kid. Nice to see that these parents see their kids as financial opportunities instead of real human beings.
Exactly. I've seen family vlogs like "our son got sick we had to call ambulance" bro it's like the child bleeds and the parents are like aight let me go grab the camera real quick. It's so sick and disgusting.
Same...I discovered him like two weeks ago and I cannot stop watching For once I'm actually watching something that's more than 1 minute and am actually being entertained
I can definitely see these kids growing up with some serious anxiety issues and possibly disorders as they grow older. When you grow up with parents who don't allow you to process your emotions fully without them making a big scene, it seriously effects your sense of self overtime. Add in the cameras 24/7 and you will get self-esteem issues as soon as you begin understanding the context behind those seemingly innocent videos your family did of you. I'm seriously scared for how the next generation will turn out mentally once they grow older, having their entire lives broadcasted to the world all the way from birth to adulthood...
i really wish legislative bodies would act faster on creating laws and protections for children who are part of these family vlog channels, because, in essence, these children are child actors and deserve the same protections (if not more protections) that actual child actors in Hollywood get. it's sickening and i'm really worried about how these children's mental health statuses and psyches will develop in these highly commodified environments.
you could argue the same for kids in abusive situations of any form, and yet people will get away with these things because there's no law against idiots having kids
My aunt gave me and my brothers a $250 shopping trip when we each turned 10 years old. My younger brother came home with nothing but a garbage bag full of pixie sticks
ftc just doesn’t rly regulate youtube and child labor laws on youtube it’s like a grey area that hasn’t really been explored yet. my guess is when these kids grow up there will be lawsuits and much more regulation
Ya I agree but the parents are doing it to make money for their family.... which includes their children?? Idk ab u but if my parents did this and got rich I would be more than grateful to them for working hard for something and putting their mind to it.
cody talked about this a little in the video, but to me, i almost feel like family vloggers are on the same level, if not worse, than child stars. at least child stars know when they walk off set and into their own home that they can stop acting, and that the cameras will be off for a little while. the children of family vloggers don’t get that. to them, they know the cameras could be turned on at any moment, and that it will be turned on - especially if they’re gonna be punished or have awkward moments
Being adopted, the ‘not my biological dad’ part would be such an intimate moment that I wouldn’t want to put on the internet. I recently just met my biological dad, but we just went to dinner and took a picture. It’d be so weird if it was recorded.
His baby: *crying and is in deep pain* Him while zooming on the baby: let's go royalty fam 🤪🤙cheer him on he's super nervous 🥺❤️ but he got your support so its alright 😂✨
also filming children when they’re sad or angry and just trying to express their emotions, and uploading it for millions to see instead of helping them, definitely bad parenting and going to be extremely embarrassing for those kids.
I’m scared to see how some of these kids turn out when they grow up. This gives me exploited child actor vibes but this is more worrying because their home is the set.
That Royalty Fam kid has such dead eyes. Reminds me of Drew Gooden's Mary-Kate and Ashley video and how both girls ended up regretting their childhoods because they were just kind of forced to only act and be famous instead of being actual kids
There’s no separation of home life and work, like the kids will never have a safe space where they know they are in the comfort and privacy of their own home because they will always be at work. That’s gotta create some severe anxiety 😭
i’m a family portrait photographer and kids get so stressed when there’s a dslr in their face. i cant imagine doing that to one child over and over again every day till they grow up
I feel like the kids get use to it like constantly having a camera in the face since birth, like everything there doing is constantly getting recorded talk about mental health
This is 100% narcissist behavior. When they're looking into the camera you can see that they're looking at the video screen thing seeing if they look good the entire time. I hate this.
“Why don’t you ever look people in the eyes?” “I’m subconsciously trying to find a camera to look at while responding. Eye contact has always made me feel uncomfortable because my parents would always tell me not to look at them growing up”
A family vlogger mom was getting criticized for vlogging her 2 year old daughter since birth and she came back with “The people who say that are just jealous they don’t get paid to post their kids online”. I can’t even begin to unpack that.
I've the cutest most camera natural kid on planet who is funny AF and everyone adores her so much yet I dont even post a pic of her online. I know if I did, she will probably be generating a lot of money (some people even suggested that), and though I need it, no. She has her privacy rights, she deserves to have normal life and enjoy those videos when she grows up instead of having trauma. That mom is sick in the head.
Just imagine that all the children’s friend can watch videos of them crying, being angry or just living their life. Also as a kid you’d have no power over what your parents would put in these videos and probably be embarrassed af few years later.
The kid already has everything… what value does $1000 have to a child with everything. I remember saving up money in order to buy games or on very rare occasions a laptop if I needed one. This kid is surrounded by every possible amenity known to man… what is $1000 to him?
I feel like all these children will try to get emancipated when they're 16 and it will come out that their parents took/spent all the money they made off the children... it's the new wave of sad child stars that become damaged, lonely, and broke, by no fault of their own, people they worked hard for nothing.
Its gonna give them a warped sense of reality. They are gonna live materialistic lives bc that's what their parents modeled for them.
I agree with you. They’re already spending all the money they’re making on their children! And it’ll all be dried up by the time their fame is gone/the kids don’t want to be involved.
when your parents spend your college fund on bugatti’s and designer clothes 🥴
But really though. 😞
So true. Their childhood is focused on putting on a happy face and wasting money on designer clothes.
I can’t tell any of these families apart. They’re just copy pasted replicas of the exact same family.
like that shrek meme where they are in gucci merch
Yeah, it’s sad. The kids deserve better.
thats what makes it very weird.
When the formula works...
seriously, i thought we were watching a clip of the ace family, but it was the other
What sucks the most is that these are genuine moments in those kids' lives and they are just artificial moments to the parents.
Must be such a lonely experience.
It must mess with their perception of reality and memory so much looking back and knowing all of these moments are edited and constructed to form some kind of narrative://

@@user-gy2xt1ct3n things always get better, the important thing is to stay true to yourself.
They worst part for me is that the kids never really consent for all this mess and the parents just blatantly exploit them without really realizing the implications of this on the kids.
And even if they agree, they can't really consent, they don't understand the implications, and they're raised with the expectation that they will make them money.
Reminds me of gender swapping for kids as a teen or younger 😬🤢
The parents completely realize the implications. They just don't give a shit because it makes them money and they put making money before their kids. Sad, but true.

those kids get bullied for sure
And aside from just the humanity of it, I think a lot of us are old enough to have seen the progression of the internet and technology and it’s not natural for us to have absolutely everything online and documented and we see the difference in children today. It’s not healthy for the normal person to live through a lens and these children are doing that x1000.

i don't think that kids can consent to putting their whole childhood on the internet. sure, to a ten year old, it would seem cool to be on camera and have a lot of subscribers, but when they're adults, even teenagers, their opinions are going to change. if i was an adult and knew that my whole childhood was spent being on camera and making videos for other people to watch and have opinions on, i'd be so uncomfortable. and on top of that, knowing that those videos are still on the internet for anybody to watch would be very unsettling. this just really doesn't sit well with me.
It's one thing for an adult on YT to get a stalker, but can you imagine how bad it would be for one of these kids to get a p*do stalker?

I feel like at least one of the kids watching is going to throw a baby doll off the stairs and give their parents a literal heart attack because "they saw it on youtube"
And another thing is that most family channels don’t have any respect for their children’s privacy, I remember a family that literally vlogged when their daughter got her period. I agree. Having a deep conversation with your parents (especially about a serious topic) already takes a lot of courage for some kids to do. Knowing that there might be a camera shoved in your face for the whole world to see may discourage the kid from consulting their parents even more. Its gross on every level and these children will grow up traumatised by this behaviour. Thats a psychological fact. It’s almost worse than being a child actor because at least when you’re a kid actor you have the luxury of a somewhat private home life still, this is so bad because the home life is completely catalogued and exploited for public consumption 🤮 No privacy, and no autonomy.
F
Yeah makes sense
Exactly I find it awful when they release titles like “‘my daughters first period” or revealing private matters to such a public platform. Their exploiting their own children, it really is sad
and there are laws now to protect you, most kids are allowed to only work a limited amount of hours on set
Just asked the same... This is ridiculous.
Many of these family channels are registered as entertainment businesses so it shocking that these laws aren’t transferred over

So I can’t imagine having a camera in my face all the time (while growing up, going thru puberty, going thru the motions of just growing up, etc) and like the idea of millions of people viewing those videos would give me hella anxiety. I was already a self conscious kid and that would’ve made it worse for me.

Ugh. This makes me ill. It just give them such a distorted sense if reality on top of the dysfunction they're already dealing with.
I can definitely agree to that, I do the same thing except with tv shows and family related variety shows but ya even a 19 year old does it lol
Been in care since I can remember about 4 I think and I hate this messy cancer of content
and it makes the whole thing worse realising that it becomes a cycle for both kids in each situation growing up with a different sense of what it's like to be in a normal family and materialistic values being the end all be all, raising them to become yet more narcissists just like their parents, or traumatised beyond repair
That’s another thing that worries me. I’m scared kids that watch this will grow up expecting their life to be like that, and then end up depressed when their life isn’t as perfect as these family vloggers try to make their lives seem.
cody looks like your weird uncle that teaches you how to set ants on fire with a magnifying glass

Exactly!!! Unreal. This is both child labor and psychological abuse all at once
In The Netherlands the government is trying to change law about child vloggers because they see it as a form of child labour indeed. I totally agree with your post.
Fantastic points! But who needs therapy to be a well adjusted decent human when you have obscene amounts of money!

There’s an episode of “mom swap” or something like that... and one family has a youtube channel and the other family is just a normal laidback family... at one point in the episode the kids from the youtube family tell the other mom that they DONT EVEN WANT TO RETURN to their mom/parents because they say EVERYTHING they do is filmed & takes the fun out of it all... that was really eye-opening for me, as someone who used to support family channels... these poor kids.
oooo what episode is it called, i wanna watch it lmao
Well good on you to realize and turn it around, bc yea these family channels shouldn’t ever be supported. Any child raised in the limelight of public attention, to the point of practice ally being exploited for money and attention, never goes well. Look at the Olsen twins, who basically from the age they were able to do talk were kind of forced into doing endless television and film programs “for kids”, and how they described their childhood experiences.

Parents like this don’t see their child’s milestones as happy moments as them growing up they see it as a paycheck and click bait and it’s nasty.
They will also have a super skewed view of the world growing up when it comes to money etc.
right, back in 2017 i used to be subscribed to a lot of them and i realized how wrong it is to used your babies/ kids for views

Check out kkandbabyj and okbaby. Serious offenders
Honestly, it’s sick. I’ve seen so many parents doing vlogs obviously intentionally make thumbnails of their child in suggestive poses because they know it’ll get clicks. How can they call themselves parents when they’re exposing their children to online predators?

And what irritates me so much is how rich people don't know how to dress. They just be slapping on brands but not like the nice stuff
