Steve Craddock is such a fluid and effortless guitar player! People talk of Graham Coxon being the best guitarist of his generation but I think Steve’s got the drop on him! Fantastic player, phenomenal feel, tone, and everything he lays down is serving the song but with flair and finesse!
Totally agree my wife is a massive fan of Ocean Colour Scene she has took me to watch them live on numerous occasions. I can't take my eyes off Craddock guitar playing.

you rarely hear an album where every song is instantly likeable and musically strong and differs from what came before in the same era. Moseley Shoals. this is one of few.
I'm going to see them for the 1st time in December at the usher halls and I can not wait 😁. They were a mainstay of my youth but oasis were and are my favourite band. But ocs are the best ONGOING band from the 90's hands down. And I'm schooling up on there other songs, it's like watching/hearing 4 Paul wellers and the fantastic drummer. What a tight as fcuk band they are. The hardly look at one another but what a sound 💯®️😁👍✌️😎
brilliant band and '97 was a brilliant time for music. Simons' voice is one of the best in the bizness. Mosely Shoals is timeless album. I put on in my car just the other day and was blown away how much I enjoyed every song.
You can hear Paul wellers influence, especially in the songs were steve growls, its like weller singing, then when paul weller is ther you do give up coz sometimes they sound so alike, sound great
1:11 You can just see the tour bus. Parked with its rear to us. It’s a right hand drive and the front door works with a code on a digital box to open from the outside. This was so I could sleep after cleaning inside and out, empty bins, throw Henry the Hoover around, make the beds and maybe the catering has breakfast ready. Quick shower in the conductors dressing room to stay out of everyone’s way, plus it had a Russ The Bus friendly toilet
Their peak was between 1996 - 1998, still baffled as to what went wrong, this was hailed their best gig which Simon said, it doesn't get much better than this during after being joining with Weller & Noel. You could only buy this VHS at their Merch Stall on the gigs a few yrs later. I bought it in 1999.
@@ChainNonSmoker but what went wrong with their trajectory? They looked like they were rising so fast they'd hit the stars. Now they're sadly under appreciated. An amazing band but fairly obscure. Basically the only people who know who they are, are people who lived in England and were aged 14-25 in 1996.
@@keithws2779 I think being a Birmingham band didnt help matters, the media were so focused on that north vs south divide that Ocean Colour Scene got cast aside. Brilliant band
@@keithws2779 I've spent a lot of time thinking about the answer to this question and I came to a conclusion that involves two facts, but I didn't get everything out of my head, to form this thesis I even talked to members of the band and people connected to it. First fact is even sad, the decline of the band coincides precisely when simon assumed his homosexuality, from today's point of view it seems something idiotic, but the world today is not the same as 20 years ago. Another factor was putting Cradock's father as the band's manager, a former policeman who had no experience in the middle had everything to go wrong, and it did, the band lost space in the media, and we all know what a good manager can do for a band.
How this band never ever made it to the top is beyond me?? Loved them then and still
They did get a #1 album in the UK.

I could not agree more , the melody that comes out of his licks are unreal !!!!
Graham Coxon isn’t fit to change Cradock’s guitar strings
@@daveshaw7953 If you say so.
@@daveshaw7953 I had to actually think about this, saying that means you know fuck all about guitar players, like fuck, the fuck all!
I have a great respect for this band, one of the best bands of the 90's, they simply have a large number of good materials.
They never stop'd btw. and I think Saturday and Painting are up there with the classic ones.
One of the few bands that ust like paul weller that all thier songs are actually good.
@@ttroopers1025yes,100%,every song that ive heard them sing is top class

Most under rated group EVER!!!! Just seen them in Dec 2003, they are even tighter than back then. Simon Fowler, what a beautiful voice and person!
Great memories of being an elevan year old kid seeing these lads perform on top of the pops I was hooked straight away.

Unbelievable!! best band ever!!
LOVE❤ LOVE IT.... BRILLIANT
Been waiting years for this version
I was there and it's still one of the most memorable gigs I've ever been too!! ❤️
Belive it or not, ocs are close family friends to my family.
I was there and never realised it was released on VHS - thank you so much!
Man, I wish I'd known, and had this tape back in 97 (possibly 98, don't know when it was released).
If i could go back in time, to one gig, it would be this one.. cool as fuck and joyous
Rosie Danvers. The cellist in so many performances. Always loving it too.
need this on DVD now!!!
Incredible band. 40 Past Midnight sounds massive

One of the few bands that just like Paul Weller, that each and every song are good.
