Liberalism is not same as idealism. For instance we say Kalidas is the Shakespeare of India. But it doesn't mean both are same persons. We compare only their qualities. Similarly internationalism, liberalism, cosmopolitanism etc are frequently labelled as idealism despite the differences. It is only to show that their application is not possible. Idealism is a completely different approach
