- He is a trusted lieutenant of the Gandhi family, an eight-time MLA and considered a 'troubleshooter' for the Congress party. DK Shivakumar is one of the tallest Vokkaliga leaders of the Congress, who lost out in the race to Siddaramaiah and became his deputy.
Shivakumar started his political career as a student leader in the 1980s and gradually rose through the ranks of the Congress party. Some even tout him as the next 'Chanakya' of the Congress party after Ahmed Patel.
In the latest edition of the ANI Podcast with Smita Prakash, DK Shivakumar talks about the Bengaluru Cafe Blast and alleges that some anti-social elements are behind it, emphasising that the safety of Kannadigas remains the utmost priority.
He also shares why Sonia Gandhi chose not to contest the Lok Sabha polls and took the Rajya Sabha route to become an MP. Shivakumar further states that only the Congress party can keep the Congress united and that the Gandhi Family has sacrificed a lot.
Shivakumar hits out at the centre and claims injustice to Karnataka in tax devolution, claiming 'stepmotherly' treatment. He also delves into the Cauvery water wars and the Bengaluru water crisis.
Additionally, Karnataka Deputy CM speaks on the preparation of the party for the Lok Sabha polls and shares his plans for the state in the upcoming years.

But the issue is of quantum. From the days of the Raj, the authorities have divided the share of water between the two states very unfairly in favour of the then Madras Presidency and later TN; and every attempt at rectifying this issue has been met with apathy at best and animosity at worst on the part of the central authorities and the TN government. The requirements to over irrigate cash crop farms in TN have been prioritised over drinking water requirements in Karnataka. I’m happy to go into much more detail over this, but I hope this clarifies our contention.

As of now, Mettur dam is filled with water completely and KRS is totally dry, this is the latest news.
We are not saying we need all the water from kaveri, infact we cannot. There should be a fair distribution.
Ultimately lot of unused water is being let out to ocean at the end.

Also i would say, there is no real interest by the Karnataka government in fixing the water issue here.
There is huge difference between Karnataka Govt and TN Govt with the will and commitment in securing the interest of the water requirement of the people.
We have spent huge tax payers money on SC lawyers on this issue, lost all time.
@@amazer6915 , Mettur Dam Is Not Filled Sir, 61 FT Water Is There and Majority Of The Time Mettur Dam has water till 80 ft that too not all the seasons TN Kaveri river belt villages are dependent on it for both drinking & agriculture. Every Year Karnataka Government Does the same in Kaveri river water sharing. Even if there is good rainfall for Karnataka have seen in news stating don’t release water. Supreme Court has to intervene & order the Karnataka state government to release water. Understood this year Bangalore is suffering but villages around Tanjore & ariyalur always faces these water shortages throughout year. Only time when they don’t have problem is when river Kaveri flows during Karnataka’s monsoon season.

I have had the fortune or misfortune of living in Bangalore since 2003...a totally 20 years give or take...in that entire time, I've heard a few "curses"...a) as a non kannadiga, I've been abused off and on...b) that Karnataka has the curse of always having a government that isn't the same party as the centre, which is why it suffers. There have been so many excuses about the hell hole that Bangalore is...but these are facts that most would agree with.. a) after SM Krishna, in the 90s, no politician has ever given a damn about blore...we were told that our votes don't count (mind you i say this as an outsider who didn't vote in the state...I've also met serious congress people - think people who's forefathers have been union minister in India ) and so no development or fixing of roads ..now the lack of planning in that city is the single biggest reason for its water problem...it went from garden and lake city to concrete city ....not a drop of rain water would be allowed to percolate into the ground...nothing was done...then with regards to this fool who is talking.- this is what they said "DK shivkumar is the money launderer of Congress, across India"...as the party got weaker nationally, he became more important...the treasurer...their centre of power isn't a govt building..it's probably eagleton resort...but all that aside..let's put the opposite...the BJP has screwed the pooch in Karnataka, like they did in Bihar... Karnataka has been one of the most corrupt states in India, politically over the last two decades...but the BJP chose yedi...a man with no credibility but who had one thing...the lingayat vote...25 percent(?) maybe...to hell with everything else...the BJP needed an annamalai in Karnataka..instead they now have yedi's son...that poor state has had to deal with a dearth of leadership since SM Krishna (his family is a whole new story...coffee day anybody?) ....this dude is the new SM Krishna...the man with the key to the vault...it's all such a shame...a state with good people...educated and driven...how did they deserve such weak leadership

Karnataka Reality was 5 freebies vs Congress. There was no BJP giving hard fight in Karnataka . Finally 5 freebies won how ever it's win win for congress. Ground really of Karnataka politics was adjustment politics between congress and BJP even a bassic knowledgeable karnataka voters know it.
