Since the S199 was made after the end of the war after the design improvements of the G6 where consolidated into the full production G10/14 it's more likely that it's either a G10 or G14 airframe. In other words even heavier. Slightly lighter if it's the G10 airframe.

Almost every single one of these kills is from a defensive situation going into a reversal, so judging by that I'm honna conclude it's characteristics are utter dogshit and it cannot normally achieve an offensive position.
It can, it climbs okay. It's just that maintaining a good position is almost impossible with this planes power and lack of energy retention. You'll end up on deck no matter what you do
love how you're stalled out at 1000 meters at basically every kill. this sums up this plane's experience also pretty ironic how israel's first plane is german

The reason I like the S-199 is that I do not expect to do well in it, so when I do do well, it's an achievement. Getting an ace in an Fw-190A1 is fairly easy if your friendlies don't wipe the enemy out. Surviving the match in the S-199 whilst getting a kill is difficult, getting an ace is very challenging, so it feels rewarding. It's War Thunder hard mode.

@@smigoltime Ye, right post war the DB-605 engine warehouse caught fire after a nearby wehrwolf (basically german saboteurs) munitions warehouse exploded. A conclusion was never posted, but general Svoboda blamed the Wehrwolf group, so that's about it.
The S-199 is not that impressive until you get it spaded. Yeah the engine sucks but it still has good guns with a workable turn. I tried playing the Israeli Air tree but it dawned on me that most of the grind was probably gonna be similar to grinding the mods for the s-199 so I gave up after getting the P-51D and the B17G
I used it to grind a bit and even use it over the P-51 sometimes. Its engine isnt good but it has good guns, good menuverability and good energy retention while still being durable. Its mot a bad plane, its just not great and I think thats why people hate it, they are used to 109's being better than most of what they see at their BR.

I know it's a terrible plane, but it is one of my favourite planes to play. The guns are great (easy to aim and hard-hitting) and it flies quite well at really low speeds. You don't feel any pressure to perform well either, because no one is expecting you to.

You people are treating it like it's a fighter, it's not. The S-199 is closer to heavy fighters like the 110 than it is to the other 109s. It's still shit though don't get me wrong.
In real life it wasn't well liked by it's crews. It was underpowered and the wing mounted cannons were very unreliable. Once the IDF managed to get their hands on Spitfires and Mustangs the S-199s were retired from front line combat
I played through it stock and it wasn't that bad of an experience, I actually had fun because the fights felt so much better when I won. Is the performance of the S-199 any good? Hell no, it's objectively awful. Does that mean you will suffer, no, because the average WT player is shit and can still get clowned on in a stock S-199 in a dogfight if done right. I found the MG 131s with IAI belts were all that I needed and I didn't use the MG 151s and still kept a 4+ k/d. You just have to play smart and rely on positioning instead of your OP plane, which most WT players just can't do, because they are too used to abusing their XP-50 or Su-11 trying to convince themselves that they are good.
S-199 is Base on 109 G6 and G10 air frame, some version (Training variant) base on G12 (not in the game) Equip with Junkers Jumo 211F engine, can generate power up to 1,340 PS (1,320 hp) at take off power, this engine is very heavy though due to very beefy engine components. Well, it's a bad plane...obviously (not compatitive) but not absolute hopeless as most ytuber overreacting... I do compare some plane at this BR bracket and this plane have a very few advantage, but i can't not compare to all the plane ..... i mean P-39N is 2.7 this should give u an idea how effective the spreadsheet are. P-39N is pure hot garbage btw it's should be BR least 1.3
Its still dogshit because Gaijin put a damn fuse delay on the Mineshell, which means unless your target is practically stalled, or you can just empty the damn gun into them your shells will explode PAST the target for little to no damage. Wanna know how you can tell? Look for the black puffs, if you see a long string of black puffs behind the bird you are shooting at? Replace the black puffs with "server timed out" because thanks to the stupid AF fuse that is what is happening.
Yeah, it's an underpowered 109. It's below average, and definitely a situational aircraft. But I wouldn't say it's absolute shit. Also, I've had that last clip happen so many times. It's Actually baffling that I'll belly land at stall speed, nice and soft, and it fuckin breaks the pilots neck lol

i prefferred flying the Sakeen over the P-51D . . . i must say that i resorted to using Manual Engine Control to not turn my engine pistons into rockets though the cooling is both inefficient by default and rather great when on MEC for some reason
Its okay imo, however the real historical pilots that used it would probably refuse to touch it after they heard its terrible MG sync gear would actually shoot off its own prop off.
The fact that you have a dogshit engine and you need to bring out the gun pods to have a useful armament (which the normal 109s already struggle with when you bring them) is just pain
Im going to be honest: When i first played a few games with it (I dropped the entire israelian tech tree out of protest because I just hate everything about it, the 400mm MBT heat round at 6.0, the entire merkava series, the fact that the only unique vehicles are the zachlam and the m51 but even those look like recycled vehicles) But back to me and the s199, when I first flew it it felt like one thing: A boom and zoom fighter with shitty speed, shitty climb rate and worse turn speed than its supposed to have. Which for me who knows these kind of planes (*COUGHCOUGH*theentireswedishplanetreeafterrank3 tojeteraincludingtheearlyjets*COUGHCOUGH*) was nothing new. I kinda just sat back, got kills on enemies that chased my teammates and went bomberhunting for low flying bombers. And that was when the plane actually appeared good. The guns still arent great sure but at least your maneuverability speed and all arent important when you can just slamfire a shitton of bullets into a big flying target plate. Its supposed to be a fighter but its a better support plane that gets enemies off that try to tail you which you cant shake, it just appears, crits them or in the best case kills them, and then leaves, proceeding to head back to airfield or going after bombers. Which come to think of it, is kinda like battles usually went. So yes. Its flight characteristics are bad, but its definately workable and its armament is significantly better than you would expect. My opinion on a plane that isnt a very entertaining but nontheless good plane (Oh and for someone that has shells bouncing off unangled flat tiger mantlets getting a single hiht that actually does something is more than I want to make me happy)
For me, if you want to have the best fly performance is remove the 20mm cannon gun and use 7.92mm tracer with 13mm IAI still not the best, but finally i can fight someone... 20mm was too heavy makes the S-199 can't maneuver
It's a bad plane, but if you can't get kills it's a skill issue. BTW, use MEC, 80-85% PP and 30% ish rads, you'll climb pretty decently if you're spaded. Without MEC this thing is a complete boat.

Unpopular opinion, but I didn't find the S-199 nearly as bad as most make it out to be. I've gotten 3 kill games in it semi-regularly and powered it out fairly quickly. In my experience flying it without the 20mm cannon pods helped with the abysmal performance. The 13mm HEI belts are also quite good, but I think most people don't use them in favor of the Air belts (which has less HE content).
NOTE: the plane is only recommended to player with over 1000h playtime everyone under this playtime is gana break his pc at worst, seriously the only purpose of the s-199 is to get the israeli B-17!
It was actually THAT bad in real life if not worse, imagine strapping a HE-111, a torque focused, bomber dedicated engine in a Bf-109 G series with WW2 cannons in the cold war. It was bad enough that not even the Checzs wanted it and sold it 10x as expensive to the Israelites cause they thought that, being Jews, they had money to throw like it was getting out of fashion. They were right tho cause the Israelites bought a fuck ton of em even tho the Americans where more than willing to send surplus P-51s and P-47s but at a later date. The war was coming and instead of spending a bit less on AAA and waiting for the American and British planes, they opted to buy a whole airbase worth of terrible fighters at 40million dollars a piece when the average surplus WW2 fighter was 4 million. Damn, even ME-262s were like 10 million dollars. Even after its terrible performance, the Israelites managed to get a somewhat positive result out of them against Arab spitfires surprisingly.
s-199 is covert anti semitism imo, at least that's how it felt when I played it. And does anyone remember the israeli spitfire mk9 (4.3) being at 5.7 a whole patch? xD
its a good plane if, and only if, you adhere to a strict playstyle of boom and zoom (with sideclimb before). after the dive is over its garbage. i found myself getting 2-3 kills per dive but only being able to make 1 dive per game and MAYBE getting a reversal cuz they are bad so 2-4 kills a game. look at my statcard thisisonlydream
It's usable but it's still just an 109 with a crap engine. Defyn had 54 kills and 1 death in it : ) And still he claims that the plane is essentially crap, and he's right.
the plane is not that bad, if you put the prop pitch on 85% and open the rads to 30% you can wep without overheating (and not losing power, more importantly), and have much more speed. The plane is not good, but not utterly atrocious like some think, the thing with this plane is that you need 100% engine manual controls, and be vigilant. I always get 2 to 3 kills per game. But again, is not really good, you have to use your brain.
Gunpods negate half of the performance you've gained by spading the plane. My trick is not using gunpods. You get performance boost and can surprise people who expect you to be utter brick. Don't get me wrong, you will still be a brick, but little bit less hopeless.
What if they made this a biplane, then it would turn better. And put rockets underneath it. and then put it to 1.0. Oh wait already exists, that's the swordfish

But back to me and the s199, when I first flew it it felt like one thing: A boom and zoom fighter with shitty speed, shitty climb rate and worse turn speed than its supposed to have. Which for me who knows these kind of planes (*COUGHCOUGH*theentireswedishplanetreeafterrank3 tojeteraincludingtheearlyjets*COUGHCOUGH*) was nothing new. I kinda just sat back, got kills on enemies that chased my teammates and went bomberhunting for low flying bombers. And that was when the plane actually appeared good. The guns still arent great sure but at least your maneuverability speed and all arent important when you can just slamfire a shitton of bullets into a big flying target plate. Its supposed to be a fighter but its a better support plane that gets enemies off that try to tail you which you cant shake, it just appears, crits them or in the best case kills them, and then leaves, proceeding to head back to airfield or going after bombers. Which come to think of it, is kinda like battles usually went. So yes. Its flight characteristics are bad, but its definately workable and its armament is significantly better than you would expect.
My opinion on a plane that isnt a very entertaining but nontheless good plane (Oh and for someone that has shells bouncing off unangled flat tiger mantlets getting a single hiht that actually does something is more than I want to make me happy)
Damn, they don't even remove 7mm's from model while equiped with MG151? Beside fact, that variant with 7mm (and planned WGr.15) never was exported.
It's not that bad...my favorite aircraft is IAR-81c and it feels same, but...IAR-81c turns better

For me, if you want to have the best fly performance is remove the 20mm cannon gun and use 7.92mm tracer with 13mm IAI

It's a bad plane, but if you can't get kills it's a skill issue. BTW, use MEC, 80-85% PP and 30% ish rads, you'll climb pretty decently if you're spaded. Without MEC this thing is a complete boat.
S199 not bad, many people they are just not used to heavy fire flying brick.

Unpopular opinion, but I didn't find the S-199 nearly as bad as most make it out to be. I've gotten 3 kill games in it semi-regularly and powered it out fairly quickly. In my experience flying it without the 20mm cannon pods helped with the abysmal performance. The 13mm HEI belts are also quite good, but I think most people don't use them in favor of the Air belts (which has less HE content).
NOTE: the plane is only recommended to player with over 1000h playtime everyone

I'm over 3-1 in it... but who cares... fucking thing is a brick, it cant do a goddamn 360° roll going less than like 450 kph.

The manuverbility and the engine sucks, but the guns are quite good on that BR. It's guns are almost powerful as jets large caliber weapons.
It was actually THAT bad in real life if not worse, imagine strapping a HE-111, a torque focused, bomber dedicated engine in a Bf-109 G series with WW2 cannons in the cold war. It was bad enough that not even the Checzs wanted it and sold it 10x as expensive to the Israelites cause they thought that, being Jews, they had money to throw like it was getting out of fashion. They were right tho cause the Israelites bought a fuck ton of em even tho the Americans where more than willing to send surplus P-51s and P-47s but at a later date. The war was coming and instead of spending a bit less on AAA and waiting for the American and British planes, they opted to buy a whole airbase worth of terrible fighters at 40million dollars a piece when the average surplus WW2 fighter was 4 million. Damn, even ME-262s were like 10 million dollars. Even after its terrible performance, the Israelites managed to get a somewhat positive result out of them against Arab spitfires surprisingly.
In the hands of a capable pilot, everything that flies is effective, S-199 is no exclusion.

s-199 is covert anti semitism imo, at least that's how it felt when I played it. And does anyone remember the israeli spitfire mk9 (4.3) being at 5.7 a whole patch? xD
its a good plane if, and only if, you adhere to a strict playstyle of boom and zoom (with sideclimb before). after the dive is over its garbage. i found myself getting 2-3 kills per dive but only being able to make 1 dive per game and MAYBE getting a reversal cuz they are bad so 2-4 kills a game. look at my statcard thisisonlydream
It's usable but it's still just an 109 with a crap engine. Defyn had 54 kills and 1 death in it : ) And still he claims that the plane is essentially crap, and he's right.
the plane is not that bad, if you put the prop pitch on 85% and open the rads to 30% you can wep without overheating (and not losing power, more importantly), and have much more speed. The plane is not good, but not utterly atrocious like some think, the thing with this plane is that you need 100% engine manual controls, and be vigilant. I always get 2 to 3 kills per game. But again, is not really good, you have to use your brain.
Gunpods negate half of the performance you've gained by spading the plane.
My trick is not using gunpods. You get performance boost and can surprise people who expect you to be utter brick.
Don't get me wrong, you will still be a brick, but little bit less hopeless.

Smigol can you use the Hs 129 B-2 in Air RB? Me and my friend have had a lot of fun and we have basically been walking the whole enemy team with it.
My friends got 6-7 kills consistently in the D5 stuka that doesn't mean stuka is a good plane
But the D-5 is a good plane for its br. Especially since it gets bomber airspawn. Early game, very dangerous plane, even without gunpods
