  • Today Snow Summit opened the Bike Park for Season Pass holders so I was able to get the hall pass to come out and play. Everyone is talking about the big jumps on Westridge. A lot of people hit me on IG asking about the new features on Party Wave to Westridge. I figured I will just post a full run so you can check it out before heading up. They pretty much made all the jumps better (and bigger) but the section after the wall ride got built up a lot bigger. This section actually caught me by surprise the first lap and I cased every jump. The key is to clear the first wooden step down, if you dont clear that you wont clear any of them. Clearing the first step down will set you up for the rest of the jumps on that section. The jumps are a lot bigger and require a lot of speed so fight every urge to pull brakes because if you touch your brakes good chance you will case the jumps.
    I hope this video helps you get an idea of all the jumps down Party Wave to Westridge so you are more prepared when heading up this weekend. Have fun! I will be posting the full edit next week.

    I've watched your channel from the beginning Tommy and your skill sets have gone through the roof! wether it be jumps or techy downhill shit you seem happy to give it a good crack. I think having someone like big booty Chris as a tow in mentor makes a huge difference stay safe 🙏

    Have you ever tried shifting to a bigger gear when your chain falls off the last one? Mine does the same thing even though my limits are set correctly.. usually happens with I shift a bunch of gears at once and the chain doesn’t stop on the smallest gear

    • @TommyHuynh

    If the threads on the axle are worn it won't hold, some of the axles use fine threads and they may look ok but will slip out on rough terrain when they are worn.

    • @TommyHuynh

      It was actually my axle coming loose is what caused my chain to fall off the last cog

  • @Clownworld24seven

    Spoke X built me a set of wheels and my axle does the same thing, they said it’s a flaw in design with the hydras..... and my bike apparently......

    • @TommyHuynh
      @TommyHuynh  2 роки тому

      I really doubt that

    • @Clownworld24seven
      @Clownworld24seven 2 роки тому

      @@TommyHuynh hunter legitimately told me that the hydra design relies on pressure from the torqued axle to engage and some bikes want to naturally back the axle out for whatever reason, like my Ripmo and your sb165. I had to replace my driver because it was damaged from the loose axle, and now I check my axle before every ride, stock Ibis wheels never did this.

    • @TommyHuynh
      @TommyHuynh  2 роки тому

      @@Clownworld24seven well I've had my bike for over 2 years, I've had 2 sets of wheels both were I9 hydras. My axle has gotten loose twice so I don't think it's a reoccurring issue.

    All the quality parts but no love for maintenance. Get certified biking BICP. Get habit check bike for your mates and yourself. It like being certified CPR and another certificate for outdoor. I understand military friends but still helps if they need help. Good riding nonetheless, wreckless riders!

    Jump lines shouldn't be this exhausting though...they should flow naturally with trail speed to clear the jumps and not require so much pumping, popping and pedaling. I have never understood how Summit doesn't understand this. Party Wave gets it right...very flowy and natural feeling top to bottom. Westridge is a different story.

    • @TommyHuynh
      @TommyHuynh  2 роки тому +2

      Well the problem is they only have so much real estate and elevation to work with. They built Blue Steel to be a flowy jumpline where you can pretty much hit the whole line without pedaling. But in order to make jumps bigger they require more speed. For sure I wished it was more flowy however I'm glad they made the jumps bigger it just makes it more challenging.
