!!! AWESOME !!! I've watched this video many times. I'm at Snow Summit now. Been doing a lot of Blue Steel, etc. MIRACLE MILE tomorrow first thing. Love you Alan. 😍
I figured you were there because I heard your unmistakable laugh near the quad chair on Saturday, maybe Sunday. I have not reached your skill level yet, so I mainly do Blue Steel and Turtle Trail to get better at speed. I'm rolling over Party Wave features currently. Even Going Green can be pretty fun if taken fast. This Miracle Mile seems doable to me.
Hey Alan as much as I love your beautiful face and quirky personality; sometimes I just LOVE when you put the rubber on the dirt and your fingers off your brakes and just send it bro!!!! Great video!
@@mtb_alan same same. I’m not in your level, but still like to diversify my content as well. Between adding music, taking and 3rd person footage. Keeps things interesting. You’re doing a great job
Damn Alan, youre getting pretty good. I've watched Tommy and his crew haul ass down that several times but youre not far behind. Thats a long 5+ minutes.
I've watching you hit Miracle Mile for a few years and really like the look of it .... a pity it on the other side of the pacific ocean 😔 .... & you have improved heaps over the last few years
@@mtb_alan yeah same with me in terms of patient ppl helping me to progress but also I find ppl are asking me for help / tow ins etc. the Mtb’ing community is full of awesome ppl and that’s part of the reason I love the sport
Hi I am coming to Palm Springs in October and want to ride here and Snow Valley too. Does this place have a high speed chair like Snow Valley and are the run long
I dunno if it's faster or slower than Snow Valley's chair, but there are two chairlifts. The runs are long enough that most people can't do full-pulls on them. And I'd say the trails are more varied than at Snow Valley.
@@mtb_alan Thanks Alan I usually ride Northstar here in Tahoe. I am going to hit Snow Summit and Sky Park for sure and a kitty litter day at Snow Valley. 🤘🤘😀🔥
If you want some more variety, you can also check out some of the trails on the back side of Snow Summit, like Fall Line: www.trailforks.com/trails/fall-line-52356/
What do you think a better trail for progression would be? I am comfortable on almost all of the jumps on Blue Steel and am wondering what to try next: Party Wave or Miracle Mile. Obviously Party Wave has much bigger features and Miracle Mile is fairly simple, but what about the technical parts? Any suggestions?
Good question. Party Wave is probably a good next step. It is faster than Blue Steel and has bigger features, but they're all pretty friendly or have go-arounds. If you can clear 650b (the green ramp towards the beginning of Party Wave) and the Muscle Beach tombstone (in the set of four jumps), you are probably ready to try out Westridge. Westridge has some big jumps that are less friendly. That is to say, they have harsh knuckles that will eat all your speed or possibly send you OTB. Westridge also has some big features that people get stuck on if they come in without enough speed. But...as above, if you're good with 650b and the Muscle Beach tombstone, you will probably survive Westridge. Now, Miracle Mile. I would have to know what your experience level, but you can always get to lower Miracle from the bottom of Blue Steel. You gotta go under the bridge and go left where it splits into Turtle and Miracle. If you feel good on that, try Miracle from the top. Hope that helps!
@@mtb_alan So true about Westridge being less friendly/harder. I followed some guys on Westridge two weeks ago, and quickly realized it was above my pay grade. I made it down though and I will ride it again after more practice on Blue Steel.
@@mtb_alan Thank you! I'll probably go for a pre-ride on Party Wave next time but merge onto Blue Steel. Thanks for the 650b and Muscle Beach tips, I've never heard that advice before.
Great run down Miracle Mile. My son and I went to Snow Summit a few weeks ago for the first time and Party Wave, Westridge, Miracle Mile and 10-Ply are gnarly! Much respect to you guys that ride those trails and at that pace. How are you liking that Giant Reign?
Right on! Yeah...there's a lot of opportunities to "learn" on those trails. 😆 I think I have the Reign like 90% tuned. The switch from 27.5 to full 29er has been a bit of an adjustment...particularly in turns. Overall I am diggin' it. I think it may actually fit me a bit better.
@@mtb_alan I'm sure it's an adjustment going from a 2.75 to a full 29er. Definitely seems like that bike fits you well. I'm currently riding the Giant Trance Advanced in a 27.5 and digging it. Carbon frame, carbon rims, Fox forks/rear shock and Shimano components for under $4K was a great deal. I'm already thinking about my next bike, 2023 Santa Cruz Bronson :) Keep up the great work and looking forward to your next video.
Sick. I was riding the Trance X Advanced 29er, and that thing rips! And you said it, Giant gives you a lot of bang for your buck. Bronsons are good quiver killers. More on the playful and park-y side than say a Hightower. I had a blast on the V4 Bronson. I'd be the 2023 will still be a V4.
@@mtb_alan yea man, I ride three times a week, Aliso, oaks etc, it’s climbs ok compared to all the higher end bikes, but the downhill and jumping is amazing. My set up came with a fox 38 in the front and fox coil DHX2.

Tire choice and pressure is key!. Smaller block "faster" tires grip better in dry, loose over hard SoCal terrain.

There's a lot of that concrete slab stuff on those trails. Is there always problem with erosion there?
Those are pavers, and yeah, it's pretty dry here and the dirt is a lot of decomposed granite.
@@mtb_alan makes sense. Just don't see them really over the pond! ✌🏻
This trail has entire sections that are pavers.
