I've found that creating the cuff at the bottom of the shirt creates a tighter roll however it takes more time to do. Prefer the first method because i'm lazy, LOL

I tried this on my fiancés shirt but it stretches the bottom when you pull the fold over it 🤔
Oh no! I haven’t had this issue… Try adjusting the method making it a little looser as to not stretch the material of his shirts. I hope you’re able to find a variation that works well!
