Everybody who loves Music!
I danced with Grace in 1979 at the Embassy club in London. She grabbed my hand and pulled me onto the dance floor. I was a 19yo hick from the Ozarks stationed there. She was so sweet and nothing but class. I saw many celebrities there.
What an amazingly fun experience. Must be a cherished memory. Thanks for sharing!
@@jgizzy it was fun. I was too green and young to be intimidated. The friends explained the rules of leaving the stars alone so I didn’t make a fool of myself. Cheers 🍻
Sounds like you were 'nothing but class' as well :)
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤...She hasn't aged!!!!!!!!
I could tell you stories lol
One of THE most exquisitely polished records from the 80’s. It doesn’t sound dated at all.
If anything, it sounds like a future we're forever approaching.
I love that! Well said. @@garypatterson2857
@@garypatterson2857Exquisitely Distilled.
Listen to the remixes, watch videos of Trevor Horne and Stephen Lipson talking about producing and recording it. The most expensive "single" of all time, worth every penn, and one of Trevor Horn's towering masterpieces along with "Welcome to the Pleasure Dome," "Owner of a Lonely Heart," "Poison Arrow," ...
I 110% agree .. I will NEVER for get when my (awesome) mother brought this album home .. I saw the cover & said who’s that mum? She said “oh that’s Grace JONES darrrrrling , she fabulous.” I said can I go listen to it in my room? Of course she said but PLEASE be careful I need to put it to tape before it’s scratched. My mother is a well known choreographer in Sydney Australia & has ALWAYS used the most amazing music for all kind of theatre & other things she used to get asked to do. .. well and still does but just says nup I’m too old & can’t be bothered anymore. But she does little things still, she can’t help it lol. But I owe my mother a DEBIT of gratitude for the music that was just ALWAYS going from the moment I was born. In school no nobody knew who Grace Jones was. I was just all in my own little world. So it is just marvellous to see her here, even though it was long time ago now! 2004!? You’re so right, this song has never dated. What a magnificent artist & woman 😊😎 ..
Madonna should never dare go back on stage after seeing Grace at 75. Incredible and sublime
A Goddess just walked on stage and graced us.
That's not a goddess, that's a shaman.
Grace was always very underrated and unapperciated as a singer by the masses. This was great. And how she still commands the stage? Mind blowing! I never get tired of listening to this song!
There's no way I would remain seated while watching this.
My thought too!
Grace Jones is an amazing performer!
She’s gay I believe. 😢
Yes, She is! 😍
@@atmakali9599who cares
@@atmakali9599she’s not. Wtf are you talking about?
No she's not
Miss Grace Jones is 75 years old and looks absolutely amazing. I've had the pleasure of meeting her on more than one occasion, and she is so much fun to be with. Miss Jones speaks her mind without holding back! Love me some Grace.❤
She was 20 years younger in this video 😊 FYI
@@DebbieTDP Should see the latest videos, didn't seem that she aged 1 bit. Unbelievable energy and physically more than ok at the age of 75. Most of the people here at that age are looking for retirement homes or can barely walk. There are a couple of singers tat are very blessed with their health and for Grace Jones she deserves every bit of fun. An absolute legend in my eyes.
I'm commenting this one, I've seen her others videos
I love Grace ❤

75 is the new 30 💗
Trevor Horn brought the bass up on this mix and deservedly so ! Brilliant part superbly played.
The best Horn song ever. The 12" version is as close to perfection there is.
It's great to listen to all the remixes to appreciate the kit of parts they labored over to assemble the song and album, then watch Trevor Horn and Steven Lipson talking about producing and recording it. Is it better than ABC's "Poison Arrow," or Yes' "Owner of a Lonely Heart," or Frankie's "Wwelcome to the Pleasure Dome"? There is no wrong answer. Eargasms
from day one ...when I discovered Grace Jones...I knew the world was different than what I was told..and I was glad...magic person is Grace Jones...Love!
The Voice, the Body , the Performance. Unreachable
This song is a pure masterpiece, it will stand above for ever.
The 12" -versions are masterpeaces, too. Ben Liebrand Made a mini-mix in the 80's.
I never comment but ... God this performance is totally sublime. Hats off to Trevor Horn and Miss Jones for showing us the power of music...
Anything Horn touches turns to musical gold!🤗
Expert $€& professional
This was gold before him 😊
Not sure about t.A.T.u. though...
what do you mean before him? this WAS him, silly@@086DEN
I agree,he wrote this (with two others) and produced it,it’s funny to think it could have been Frankie goes to Hollywood’s next single after he’d done Relax with them, but Grace’s version is iconic!
I'm a 60 year old musician and let me tell you when I was in high school we had a band with 3 females in it and we did a few Grace Jones songs, this one and Pull up to the bumper were such good song.
Still pinching myself I was at this show, I flew there from California by myself…..1st time ever been outside of America…..was there for 3 days, saw the show & flew back to America 😂😂😂😂…..I met so many Awesom fellow Trevor Horn/Ztt fans…..in my top 5 best concerts ever…..simply surreal & emotional….Thank You Mr. Horn for making us all Slave’s to your many Rhythms….. btw, seeing Art Of Noise at the show was my favorite moment🤘🏾
Trevor Horn is a genius and a damn good bass player!
Phenomenal performance by Grace…..Trevor’s bass playing is outstanding… my favourite live version of this.
Couldn't agree more !
Masterful orchestral arrrangement! And I could watch this forever.
Trully astonishing!
I once traveled with her on the same flight from JFK to Paris, carried her luggage from the conveyor belt. Very kind lady.
One of the few divas left. What a force of nature ❤
This night bird is an artist of exceptional stature in every way. She's all legs. She has a voice from beyond. And with her, musicians take us higher. Thank you for posting.
Legendary 🎶💖🎶 Blows away anything Madonna served up on her recent tour!
Effortless class,glam & GRACE ✨
Madonna writes, plays, produces ,and is the biggest selling female artist. Grace had 3 hits written by other people.
She looked great ❤
Astonishing, beautiful woman!
One has to submit, that costume is a flowing presence and just must captivate your attention, the style is just her own.................as always
I've seen her in concert and you will wait for at least 1 hour before she takes the stage. But when she's there it goes by so fast, and she used to do costume changes in between songs, so the visual bombardment of fashion was ever present coupled with 2 male backup dancers, and a tight band that kept the groove going. And Grace, bare chested and shouting her heart out wearing Issey Miyake ballon pants and combat high heel boots. Amazing!
Her voice has presence!
what a wonderful performance feel, and magical presence that Grace Jones has! ❤
Absolutely loved this when it was first released and still love it know in 2024. It gets this 63yr old moving and swaying and getting the air drums out. Absolutely awesome and nobody comes close to this.
Great song. Great sound!
Omg. That was amazing! She has remained every bit as captivating through the years!
She was 61 on this show.
she is a very enigmatic person. she is very fortress like. If you saw Bloodlight and bambi her documentary. she remained elusive at all times. she gave one concession to the filmmakers and that was an interview with her mother in jamacai. but because grace jones demanded to be in the room, and was such and is a controlling presence the audience gained little insight in graces early life
Dude, this is one of my all time favorite cds forever! TH one of my favorite producers.
In 1999 I stood in a shoulder to shoulder club for 8 hours waiting for grace jones to hit the stage. It was worth all the pain.
She is incredible and an amazing icon ❤❤❤ we are all different in our own way. I’m glad she helped show us. It’s OK to be yourself in this crazy world. ❤❤
Never have I seen this track performed live. I swear it's about as close to a recorded track performed live as I've ever heard!! Representing my city's unique genre, Go-go EXCEPTIONALLY!!! And Grace doesn't get enough credit for her vocal ability. She's a force to say the least!
Indeed, this live performance is monumental, out of this world. Only a full orchestra could translate on stage the sophistication of this song.
watch her performance at the 2012 Queen's Jubilee Concert
What is a woman???......that is a woman......shes still an icon,diva,and pure feminine!!!
Got that right. She is a she from birth.
Thank You
She is crazy & loony, too - I love it! 😍
@@strandgirl1000She's an artist. "Crazy and Loony" pffft!
❤❤❤❤❤ She has amazing presence and still commands respect and your attention. She looks so fantastic, how many modern models will look as good when they get to her age. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Long may She continue performing.
Of course Trevor Horn is a Debussy fan. This song is other-worldly and always gives me funk chills. It’s a DC go-go beat, for God’s sake….what a producer.
She share something with Nina Hagen. Their incredible voices and they are both punks in many ways!
Naturally this piece is over the top. Trevor Horn, Jean-Paul Goude, Grace Jones, what could go wrong?
I was spreading it, loudly, with my ghetto blaster on the mid 80s, on my small French town! Unique!
And Slave to the rythme album pushed the idea of concept album further: this should be listened to from start to end.
Totally. Non-conformists. No room for the real deal anymore, in this totalitarian shitshow.
Ha ha, I thought about Nina Hagen as well 😊 Grace and Trevors bass play are DOPE 🎶
Agree, they are sort of limitless singers in regards to range - AND output levels! Extraordinæææææærr 😎
I thought the same, one ton in her voice how Nina Hagen.
Grace Jones, is an incredible artist performer. What a fantastic production by. Trevor Horn. Amazing well done. 👍😊
True icons are a rarity these days, but Grace is, and will always remain, sn icon eternal. 🌟❤️🖤🇯🇲
That opening phrase has to be the coolest thing ever. Ian McShane sounding like he's taking off his cufflinks and tie, and enjoying a fine single malt.
Love him! Thanks for posting.
Yes, but it’s only a fragment. The full intro is on the CD.
The magic of Trevor's production with Grace's star performance while he plays with the band is unforgettable. How does he do it?
Grace is one cool lady. 💕
I agree with you because I am a qualified lesbian too
Grandissima GRACE!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Insane bassline, beautifully played.
Great work by Trevor Horn….apparently he didn’t play the bass on original on the recording.
@@stefangrant1989 Yes, the bloke playing percussion on this played the bass on the original, Horn mentions that after Grace's performance on the DVD.
Bass from hell, hits you deep 🎶🎶🎶
She's so fantastic! I love her shows, her unusual outfits, her freshness (with what? 70 something years? Incredible!!!) I already saw her several times live on stage and would see her again any time LIVE!!! Strong Jamaican woman, amazing Parisian mannequin. Devine!
This song still speaks to my life on so many levels. Ty Grace Jones and this version with Trevor Horn's Orchestra
This album complete blew my mind when it was first released. It still just kills.
Another name for perfection? GRACE
She’s awesome!
OMG! Grace is in the house. I love every video I’ve seen of Grace singing this song. 🎉❤😊
This song is timeless, and the performance is flawless. The grand sweep of the whole thing is transcendent. Thanks Trev for this masterpiece.
Only one comment is sufficient "GRACE JONES"
One of my all time favourite songs.
Fantastic really ❤
It was a wonderful concert.
Children born in 2004 will soon turn 20. Oh my god! lol

Amazing 😍
Legend. A true woman .
What an icon.
She she still has it. I’d love to see her live.
Just amazing!
Music can transport you to a different time and place. For me this was 1985 , aged 16 on holiday in Portugal with my parents, one of whom I lost earlier this year. Thank you Trevor for producing this amazing song, which will forever be etched on my memory. Literally makes my whole body tingle when I hear it. Happy and sad in equal measure ❤😢
wonderful band! Many things in this song are right done;more than that!Bass;Guitars,harmonys....drums...arrangement...etc!Forever in my life it is in me!Amazing!
She’s mesmerizing.
I SAW IT A HUNDRED TIMES ALREADY ON MY DVD , THE FULL SHOW. WHAT A VOICE? WHAT A TALENTED PERFORMER! AND LEGS, OMG! RARE THING! WHAT ELSE? NOTHING COMES TO MY MIND! GREAT GRACE JONES ITSELF, AGAIN! "CONAN" MOVIE ALSELCOME! FLEXIBILITY "TIP-TOP!" THANX GRACE REGARDS, THOMAS(POLAND-CHICAGO). MR> HORN, THANX FOR YOU HAVE DONE TO THE MUSIC SIR! I KNOW, I KNOW YOU- "RADIO DID WHAT? " WE DO KNOW, WHAT?"
Good grief. She is unique. Well done Trev for writing something that showcases her talent so well.
while Horn produced the track, he did not write it in a vacuum - it was written by Horn, Bruce Woolley, Simon Darlow & Stephen Lipson. let's not discount their incredible talents. and really without Grace, this would be nothing.
@@kyleminer4497Frankie were great but there version is not a patch on this.
