What fantastic lyrics! This is probably still the best Marillion album for me, although I have to catch up on the many albums released with Hogarth (some very good songs there as well). This gives me goosebumps. Wish Fish didn't have it in for rubber plants though....
How the fuck can a band get it so right with their debut album!! I am 99% certain i was at that particular gig... I saw Marillion so many times in the early part of their career!!! Absolutely love this!! Script for a jesters tear(album) is by far their best.... Superb times back then! I wish i could give this experience to my kids to enjoy!!
I am delighted with the videos of Marillion That I found here, almost all the songs for my favorite, the script album. Thank you guys for make it possible
amazing song!! I love it when it switches to synth after about 6 mins. could have a whole song like that and i'd like it. Their guitarist and keyboardist are brilliant
Whenever I got bored at work in the mid 80s I would write out all of Fish's lyrics word for word on cards. I probably wouldn't be able to remember them all now lol. Happy days!;-)
Looks like this footage was edited by Fish! :D Would like to see Rothery playing during solos instead of Fish making a salad! LOL .. Great band, great lyrics, powerful performance!
That wasnt 84. That was April 18th 1983 at the Hammersmith Odeon, coz it was the last ever time "The Web" was performed Live, and you can see Mike Pointer playing drums and that was the last time he played with them.
This video is drawn from the show "Recital Of The Script" filmed in 1983,but i don't know if it's still edited today. Check out at the marillion website buddy.
I saw them about 50 times during this era and can highly recommend the DVD to new and old fans, alike. Multi-region DVD remains available from: marillion dot com slash music slash dvd slash recital.htm
@voltronsky "Everything is entirely nessesary, chump"! - Taken from the imortal words of Sherman Krank - lead singer of that legendary band - Iron Lung "It's a heavy metal life"!
Hi 2tone69. Concerning you question, the only video version of Cinderella Search I know about is the one interpreted by Steve Hogarth during the dvd show "A Piss Up From A Brewery" (Sorry for the Fish unconditionnals). I have it, if people wish to see it, it will be a pleasure to upload it. Greetings.
great great live performance!!!!!!! These are the real MARILLION!!!! leoymela: I agree with you 100%, they should change the name asap....as they have betrayed the past musical line and attitude
Im a huge MARILLION fan, they are my fav band. But 1 thing i will say about this entire concert video footage. Is that most of the camera work is concerntrating on - FISH. And we miss out on all the footge of STEVEN ROTHERY playin that AWESOME BLOW AWY LEAD. Sack the camera crew. Good concert otherwise.
No one makes music like this anymore. Goosebumps... Fish was amazing back then.
I absolutely love both Marillions. For different reasons. Both are superb.
The lyrics to this are just incredible.
"Who put this goddam houseplant on my stage?! I'll show him!"
Great performance - thanks for posting!

One of the most amazing guitar solos I've ever heard.

one of the first songs by Marillion. The original title was "The Tower". I AM SPEECHLESS.
The most underestimated Marillionsong ever. Because its a brilliant one.
tremendous! this was one of the best debut albums ever!
Fish would make a sick screamer \m/
I love this song. Best Marillion song to date

Jane Metcalfe .......love it james ...best lyrics ever....how could you ever forget them especially when u had wrote them down in the old days...
Recital of the Script should still be in most music stores.
It is in Britain, I need to go and get it.
Love this song.
Keyboard guy Mark kelly is so so so so SO *SO* underrated !!!!!!!!!!!
A very touching, movig, emotional song!
brilliant vocal range
I'm not surprised by that, I've always thought he sung in a similar way to Hammill. 2 of the best singers ever.
This is still my favorite album. It totally epitomizes them, in my opinion.
The best for ever!
This shroud shall not suffice, big man you are a star. You guys that like this also check out The Widows Peak by IQ, another great band!!
My 2 favourite neo prog bands my friend.
This was my favourite track from the Script album. This live version is fab. By the way, Fish and Marillion
They were GREAT with Gabriel ! His pain was real for me
Marillion without Fish died!
one of the three best guitar solos (Comfortably numb + Hotel California)
This is a great song but Fish carries it to another level in this clip with his unique idiosyncratic theatricality
Looks like this footage was edited by Fish! :D Would like to see Rothery playing during solos instead of Fish making a salad! LOL .. Great band, great lyrics, powerful performance!
O k eu dava para estar neste concerto...fuck nasci cedo demais...
Classic Fish / Marillion
Marillion memang HebaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaT !!!
Changes have to be made > love it. Notice some of the solo sounds like the grendel solo?
Take that, pot plant!
Fish: "Damn you Robert Plant you beat me to it" .. ... "i'm not Robert Plant i'm a rubber plant" ... "i don't care i shall tear you apart anyway"

...this band showed the way to most of or the prog-rocks bands nowadays.
@voltronsky "Everything is entirely nessesary, chump"! - Taken from the imortal words of Sherman Krank - lead singer of that legendary band - Iron Lung "It's a heavy metal life"!
I like Twelfth Night too

and thus begins the WEB lad. Fish the seer.
👁 El ojo
most bed sit flats back then all had rubber plants, hence the plant prop on stage, i guess
😅wow, was für eine Zeit!!! Wer sitzt da am Schlagzeug??? 😅
Wooow
Extra !
They were GREAT with Gabriel !
@SonOfYoungwood he wasnt very strong at that point (get very good afterwards with Arena) but i think he suited the songs well.
Dave Murray on drums? :)
Fish is as relevent, if not even more so, than ever....
great great live performance!!!!!!!
These are the real MARILLION!!!!
leoymela: I agree with you 100%, they should change the name asap....as they have betrayed

Who's playing the drums here, Andy Ward?
That''s Mick Pointer, seems that he wasn't so bad as I've read🙂
so I can close it when I don't like what i'm reading
Oh Steve Rothery, you did not age well you poor guy. Good job your guitar playing is as good as it ever was, though :D

eh.. as Peter to Genesis!
Tolkien would have been happy.
Is Mick Pointer one of the most mediocre rock drummers of all time?
And why did he wear shorts, with such lightweight drumming?
K, but is the war paint really necessary?
He's pretty bad.
Great Guitar work shame he looks like jabba the hut now...
