Before my stroke October 12, 2019 I hauled scrap worked 2 jobs, I did it all man. You ain't doing anything wrong . Your videos (auto):are great. & now your scrapping videos are great as well.

I don't fix cars, but enjoy your calm demeanor when watch working on your truck or cars (my family always shared an abundance of 4 letter words when they worked on cars). They love to levy fines on people for cars and junk on property, and smog fees, etc etc etc, but gawd forbid somebody come along and do something good for the environment that puts a few dollars in their pocket. Oh sure you got it dropped, but look at all the hoops you had to jump through. I'm so glad you stood up to them. Congrats!!!

Mike, the plywood, if in good condition can be value added. People who do pottery need small, (18" 12"), roughly, pieces to work on. You would need to seal them though, so the water doesn't affect them. You could get quite a few out of a large sheet. 😊

I do a bit of scrappin' myself, so I would like to see more videos on this. Trouble is, I end up coming home with more stuff than I took to get rid of. 😁

I was scrappin' in 08 and 09 and I loved it. I want to do it again. I would go out early morning on garbage day in the residential neighborhood to source the metal. I got enough building materials from one restaurant (under renovations) to completely finish the interior of my garage with 5/8 finish plywood. It was awesome.
I love it too. No shame in it at all. The fact that it was thrown away was shameful.

Interesting and informative video for sure! I am as bad as you at saving stuff, good piece of metal, wood, etc. I pick up free or almost free flat screen Tv's and get them going again and sell them. But mostly have kept family and friends supplied with nice working Televisions going on ten years now and at 73 years old it keeps me busy doing something. So happy you got that mess taken care of. You da man!

When you talk SHT that's how they're going to treat you like SHT. My cops friends tell me that don't lose your kool. Cuz when you start speaking FRENCH tickets to SIX FLAGS over Tx. start flying & remember your on candy camera. Brother u could put out videos clipping ur toe nails and I'd watch 😁😆😅🤣. Glad you got the tickets taken care of. But in NY same rules they consider taking Garbage as stealing. But they do for insurance reasons and calling stealing is definitely a deterrent but still bs

Im a PDR tech and many yrs ago I was working at a huge dealership in Tx that had been hit with hail...
Most of the hoods & decks were not feasable to repair , so they were being stacked up for the scrap man...
I got the idea to load up on these hoods & decks, fix them over the winter & sell them on ebay, ect..
I asked the body shop mngr & he said , go for it...
So me & my buddy started loading our trucks after work , and stacking them in our shop ..
Well...unbeknownst to me the General Manager of this dealer was getting a lump of cash every time the scrapper got a load of scrap auto parts...
When he showed up , he was expecting a huge load ...(we took about 50 hoods & 50 decks up to this point)
He was pissed !
But the G.M. wasnt supposed to be skimming $$ from the scrapper..
The scrappers normally take the vehicle parts & the dealer doesnt have to pay a fee every time the dumpster got full...
The G.M. demanded we bring it all back immediately , in spite of the shop mngr telling him , we had permission...
I pulled the G.M. off to the side & told him Id give him some cash & that there was still enough scrap of hoods , decks & collision scrap for the scrapper to make a load...
The G.M. said , give me $400 & we are good !
I paid him the $400...
But what he didnt know was , I was getting $300 to $400 for steel hoods/decks & $500 to $600 for the aluminum hoods/decks...
And, I could fix 3 to 5 hoods a day & about the same for decks...
I spent all fall and winter fixing the hail on these hoods & decks , and selling them as quick as I fixed em...
P.S. we ended up taking 3 loads of hoods/decks & paying the G.M. $400 each time.
That was in 2011 & I sold most of them over the nxt 3/4 years .
Eventually I called a scrap man & he took what we had left over when Covid hit...
For $1200 , we made a very tidy sum.

Other YT channels may not sort as well as you seem to. But I remember cutting an import car up with an axe, in late 70s😂 they can't take recycling away from us.. sux
Most judges would dismiss the driving without a license if you show in court you renewed it.

Glad to hear things worked out! Prob a good idea to print up some homemade permission slips for when you do get permission. Make it so they just add company name and signature. Don't put dates or locations so they can be used at multiple job sites. Maybe even ask for the address of other job sites when you get permission 👍

I built a complete 3 axis CNC machine from industrial scrap stages, drives, controls, and power supply. About $30k in parts. A scrap computer running LinuxCNC (free) drives it all.

@@weirdbeard8898 I only dive for parts/materials I use, not for recycling moolah. I pretty much quit, because I have a lifetime supply of everything. Now I only do it for my wife's art projects. It's still a good skill to have for the Mad Max days ahead of us.
I live on assistance and am on Paine killers opiates so my memory is poor so I can still count on one hand that I have been charged driving with a expired license I know how you feel .

Yeah! Thats just crazy! All involved should be all for saving the enviroment! But some cities do have ordinances on dumpster diving witch sucks Ive been in dumpsters when property owners rolled up on me some company recycle materials themself! Glad it all worked out! Take care my friend!

I got minor in possession of alcohol in Norman while I was outside of Oconnells back in 1990 , during an OU football game! Norman P.D. Was pretty overzealous back then as well! We had to go to court and pay $30… funny memories!
Hi Mike, it really pissis me off the way AAR goes on about how much things cost him. Then you work your socks off for $100 or $200 and he doesn't even repair his cars. It's all walk arounds. Plus, you should do some vehicle flips again as it's coming up to tax time in the US. I'm for one loving the videos

I live in between Newcastle and Blanchard..vicinity of hwy 9 and 44. Several times throughout the year I throw away washers,dryers,freezers,fridges,gutters and such. Be happy to push it your direction when it pops up. Is there an quicker way of getting ahold of you? I noticed you don't seem super active on Facebook....if your interested..holler at me
Here in communic Coloradostan we don't have to have money up front and such low level crimes you would probably get a PR bond. Now your on site dumpster I'd want permission but roadside is legal cuz if they want to dig through your trash they had make legal for everyone now small towns maybe not, but if I see something I want roadside I'm taking it. Also you can never completely replace a slage hammer(and no I can't spell)but for the most part you can get it done faster with a 5' tamping bar sharp on one end ugly on the other. I got a trailer when I was 24 I am the reason you can get good money out of bad cars. For example I had a crap ton of Mercury Capri Mk 1. I love them but they got vandalize so I crushed em at that time you could get a really nice one for 1300 now trash off the farm 6-7k wish I had a place to hoard all that cuz Dusters, Furry s and more but always just one step ahead of zoning.
Excellent video and great news about the charges... new day and age where we start going legal @p3 $h1t on dumpster divers. One thing, for the love of God, please wear gloves when handling dumpster relics. I am gritting my teeth while watching you handle that sharp metal just praying you don't slice some fingers off. Keep those great videos coming and yes the scrapping/picking videos are a hit in my book!
Years ago, I got pulled over by a cop. I was pushing a rusted out grocery cart with my laundry. Cart only had three wheels left. Sure enough, he accused me of stealing the cart (someone had left it in my front yard). Cop asked: "Do you have a bill of sale for that cart?" He just liked busting a broke college student doing his laundry.
Scrapping videos would be cool to watch. I do miss the flip car videos, but I understand with prices the way they are nowadays, it's hard to get a cheap car that isnt completely hammered. I'm loving the truck build, she's looking sweet!! Keep up the good work, Mike!

I pick up fairly new model broken electronics, for a few dollars, I repair them and then I sell them. This way I'm funding my scratch build Locost(Lotus 7 style car).
This sure doesn';t look good for the city of Norman to have bully cops, and prosecutors around harrasing folks just for trying to make a living. The cop(s) that did this are a poor reflectionon on aw enforcement, and I'm sure worthy of the Barney Fife award. That's not policing, that;'gestapoing.

Yes they drop the charges because you had PERMISSION What happens when you don’t have permission and dumpster dive Are you breaking the law? Who owns the material in the dumpster?

WB I’m in for the scraping and recycle of waste. Couple of things but all good! 1) Please remember, The dumping owner needs to be protected if anyone gets injured while scraping in their dumpster. Please get yourself a good pair of leather gloves for your own protection. Snapper.
There's just something satisfying about watching a guy smash and tear stuff apart when you can't do it yourself. Btw, I just finished the fury playlist. I've been stuck inside cause of weather and such, so I really enjoyed that WB.
I don’t exactly know what country your originally from but in the United States of America in the Joe Biden regime at this moment citizens are still innocent until proven guilty & that is absolute meaning you don’t pay for fines/summons before court during court but only after you have entered a plea of guilty & except the consequences of the crimes against you.. but not before so don’t be this super nice guy that get railroaded into being another victim of the system. Would you be that very same “man” if it were a’guy coming after your family!! I don’t think so!!
More videos like this please. Also what do you think about solar power homes, and electric vehicles? Would you ever get one? In California they would help with gas, almost $5, a gallon. Is food, and bills high there. It's almost like living on a island out here with the prices.
Do you not have some type of regional justice center for your county that can point you in the direction on finding a lawyer to do some pro bono work? First year law students could win this. That over zealous cop is bound to have prior history of aggression and poor decision making. I'm willing to bet his colleagues know this and are just smoothing things over. So much so they cut you loose with the so called stolen goods. You may beat the rap, but you won't beat the ride saying comes to mind. Also, that DA supposedly quoting some ordinance was most likely bs. If she didn't give you the municipal code then I would question it. Lawyers, especially DA's, are good at verbal bs.
I don’t know where ‘To Protect And Serve’ comes in with this officers attitude Mike but I’m so glad that you got to see a grounded, common sense educated DA to help you and see that what you are doing and trying to achieve is actually helping to protect the environment and help you support your family as well as, in no doubt, pay your taxes. Win win all round Mike do props to you and hopefully shame on the cop!
Good news and bad news here in the Mid-Ohio valley! Good news i took a run of old fence into scrap last week and got $60 and pocket change for a truckload (which i put in the gas tank)
bad news that was last week, this week the same truckload i only got 1 cent a pound... $3 and pocket change for a truckload... the local yards here either pay next to nothing or dont take fence anymore right now :(
Weird you should study Mike the scavengers technique of putting out his videos. Now I know Houston’s population is over 2 million and he seems to have no problem making interesting content but I think you could do better w/ a scrapping channel then what your currently generating w/ your auto channel. Theirs only so man Pudins in the world and you don’t strike me as the type that would poke fun at yourself when making automotive continent . I enjoy watching him and he can generate some interesting continent as well. Which compliments his style . So good luck and I’ll keep checking back on ya to see how it going .
Thank you for not just going and paying the fines! Next time that cop harasses you , you can explain to him how the false charges were dropped and it might educate him a little and save someone else from the hassle. I scraped for two years to keep the bills paid and never once had police bother me. Now I’m a contractor installing fireplaces for builders and homeowners. Lots of scrap gets thrown in the roll off dumpsters and they don’t mind people taking things out because it costs them to have that stuff hauled to the land fill. It’s a win win win for the scrapper the builder and the roll off buisness.
A bit hard to watch after a bunch of Wiskey with all of the camera movement, LOL, I used to referbish computer stuff and it was big drives with a lot of aluminum, back in the 14" disk drive days

It's a shame, Mike - with all the politicians carrying on about how we should be more careful with the environment, and recycle, and so on - you are keeping many useful materials out of landfills, and allowing them to be recycled, and some cop with an ego problem gives you grief. Glad you were able to get the charges dismissed & keep your earnings - they should have given you a reward!
It's called the first Amendment, You can say anything You want to a Rude Policeman except threats of violence etc. And They can go pound sand! They let You go because they know that they screwed up and leveled charges to cover up their Mess. Idk if you know but I was a police officer for 10 years, as far as what's going on if there's no signs on or around the roll off then they can't get you for stealing, as for the impeding an investigation it sounds like you were good for that one, I understand you were pissed but..... well you know, as far as the driving without a license.... that is the one that you weren't technically good for, your license had only been expired for a week, in Oklahoma you have a 30 day grace period after your license has expired to renew it, in Missouri and most states you have a 60 day grace period.

I got pulled over by a cop . Got me for going 5 over, it was 45 speed limit I was going 50 and I went over the white line by 2ins Crackness driving, and failed to Maintain Control of the vehicle. $450 in fines .he said 1 mile over is still speeding.
I've said this before on your previous video on this, but as a former trash man that worked on trucks picking up people garbage anything in the alley or curb, a dumpster is public domain and free reign unless it is locked up. But who knows what ordinances are in the city. When it comes to dealing with law enforcement they aren't super knowledgeable on the laws, which I get there are a lot of things that can't memorize but a lot of times they issue citations based on what they personally think and many times there is no law to back it. If you are lucky enough to get a judge that rules based on the letter of the law, they throw it out, however many judges don't want to undermine their officers and will rule anyways.

Love the videos brother keep on keeping on!! So looking at the GMC behind you , you could flip that solo M 180 degrees on the hood . Seems appropriate , or maybe just a Weird idea .
