Parents bought property in Kanab Utah and often they would go out searching for artifacts and many of the times they did come across artifacts and some of which were really awesome and those of the greatest values went to museums

      Not just monetary value

They actually had offerings for way above what museums would offer and they always went to the museums instead.. no cost unless a great deal of effort was expended on whatever they had found

As a kid I was lucky to have grandparents and parents that had a burning desire for things of the past/ dinosaurs, cowboy era, American history, World history, and my favorite dinosaurs!.. . Many different books in my parents library and all of which were subjected to My grubby knubbies lol
And that I did..my paw prints on damn near every page of every book.
Only wish I could have actually retained all that I had read.

Great place, been over 50 years since i was out that way exploring..Music loop in background was totally annoying though, might slow down your camera movements and/or get a gimble for better quality & stability, it would be far more watchable

It’s been a long time ago, I explored the Salt Creek Area. As an artist the petroglyphs were hypnotic, I dreamed about them hem for several years. Great video and trip! Thanks for taking us along.

Peace be with you my brother. Yes definitely do not take anything whatsoever from our ancestral ruins. It's bad juju bad karma. Those sectional ruins were used to dry and store their corn and meat and other goods for the winter seasons and of course the coming years. It's a wonder how they survived out there for so many centuries. You are actually walking on burial grounds too so please please be very careful wherever you go that is really not good at all. People get really sick from entering into those places. If you do start to experience odd things maybe you'll need to see a HOPI medicine man. Just hit me up and I can help you find one here on our reservation.

Hey. At 50.56, pause it and look at the wall in the middle of the screen. I'd swear that's brickwork. My Mom said Dad have found a lithified/almost petrified hut near Kanab Utah. It had to be thousands of years to be in that state of aging. Although it was made of branches, mud, and grass, it was hardened and held up all in one piece. I'm seeing a lot of really cool formations and structures. Thank You for taking us along. I saw a replaced or sealed-up door in one of the ruins. This is so awesome.

That's the cabin of the soldier who was assigned to that tribe. They moved in and tried to befriend them and/or kill them. Beautiful place. I see natural erosion, but I see destroyed things too. It's sad these historical sites aren't UNESCO World Heritage Sites, already. The 1600's, the Spanish Conquistadors came, in the 1700's, natural disasters were common, but the 1800's were especially brutal for the Native People. The "Relocation Act of 1863" should have been called "The Extermination Act". There were 75 internment camps across the US, where they kept Native and Japanese Americans who came peacefully. The rest were killed and their homes destroyed.

      Ha ha, everyone’s a critic….
It’s just outside of Canyonlands and Bears Ears, it’s better done as a through hike, over a couple days. There was a bunch of cool things I missed, planning on doing it again, It’s amazing.

Yikes., so not a contribution to the viewing experience. An insane loop. Awful. How about some native music for a soundtrack? Flute? Drums?

38:38 I’m sure everyone watching has seen hundreds if not thousands of photos of pictographs.
Has anyone ever seen on with cartoon eyes and a big toothy smile?
Add that it is painted over handprint pictographs and I’m thinking this isn’t ancient….maybe not even Native American.

    • @overthehillhiker3338

They have actually dated this by taking a small amount of the paint and did carbon dating testing. I believe it’s over 2500-3000 years old. Google it, all American man pictograph.
