assuming you overfunded retirement accounts......wouldnt the roth ira give you same flexibility you mentioned was needed by having non-retirement accounts? being that contributiins can be taken out anytime penalty free? you better off maxing out roth every year and possibly needung to take out a contribution for emergencies then you would be not maxing out the roth and splitting money investing in non retirement. (now for 401k i would 100% agree with needing flexibilty)
