Let us all not forget this Memorial Day weekend those who made the ultimate sacrifice
28 January, 2007 is the Battle of Najaf that Dan McClinton is referring to. I was a Fire Control Officer on the 2nd AC-130U that responded after the Apache was shot down. We engaged targets for 3 hours with A-10's doing roll ins on targets and ended up declaring WINCHESTER before departing. Three of the four AC-130's that responded ended up WINCHESTERING that night. The book "LAST JOURNEY" by Darrell Griffin, Sr and Jr details the ground aftermath of the Death Cult's compound.
My stick buddy in flight school was 18 years old (and looked 14) right out of high school. When we finished flight school and got our bar and wings (WOC until you graduate) we were a little nervous going into the Fort Hood Officers club for the first time. Anyway you could hear a pin drop "what's this kid doing in the O club".

@#TheTeamHouse. IRAQI SWAT Humvees were captured by the Death Cult at the beginning of the battle. Our AC-130U crew engaged the Humvees with 105mm. We were told the Death Cult's plan was to stockpile weapons (just like David Koresh and Waco) and then go into Najaf and Nasiriyah during the Al Shura festivities planned in February and take civilians to meet Allah.
Back in the day, there was a beautiful army airfield in Frankfurt out in Bonames. Loved it there. Anyone of you guys remember Maurice Rose?

It's a super cheezed 90s movie called Firebirds, which I vaugly recall watching. It featured the AH-64 Apache when it was a new high tech attack helicopter.
It would be like making a movie about the now widely adopted F-35 when it was first introduced to the wider public.

@@droptableaccount1820 It is a joke in the AH-64 community that you can't say the name of that movie because it is so bad. If you do say the name or quote it, you owe a lot of people drinks.
