@@ukcats82This is a premium model Ibanez so it wouldn't have been over 1k at the time. Also the pickups are swapped out with Bare knuckle Juggernauts I'm pretty sure which are what sound great.
doenst matter if you shref or dont shred! the way you pick the notes is so beautiful! just feels like it cuts right through my soul. keep playing Rick!
Sometimes we fail to realize the slow stuff is tougher musically than the bombastic shredding as it takes REAL musicality as well as technique and an incredible amount of control. Love it.
What people in comments call slow...almost dismissively, is kinda sad. I'd like to see how fast and well they play. This solo wasn't about any single thing (speed, "emotional" playing, slow bends, playing through the chord changes etc), but rather, it made good use of these specialities to deliver the "right" solo, or the solo the song demanded.
Rick Graham you are truly and inspiration and an artist. I often get down on myself for not being able to sweep 128 note long 16th note rising and falling arpeggios at 4k bpm, but you reminded me you dont have to be able to play the fastest runs to play the most beautiful soul touching music. Thank you my friend.......
Outstanding talented guitar player... First heard this amazing composition years ago and always listen to it while running the streets... So just wanted to say thank you. And Thank you to UA-cam because without them none of us would have ever been introduced to such amazing talented people around the world 👊🏾
Bro you attaining my max speed and calling it no shredding makes me wanna go to the corner and weep, but then again the Master can only inspire. Phenomenally sweet ballad.
I've always liked how this guitar sounds so I just bought an used RG721RW that I found for a good price. Phenomenal sounding and playing guitar with solid build quality. Installed Duncan Custom/DiMarzio Illuminator pickups, Gotoh locking tuners and Luminlay side dots.
This took me back to the time I was a kid and enjoy listening to this amazing music on a rainy night thinking.... how on earth can he play the guitar like that.....thank you Maestro.
Man this is so awesome and quite a showcase how much tone is actually comin' from the picking hand... people tend to underestimate that too often! sounds so "easy" but it is truly one of a kind.
For the last year now i have just been returning to my "liked videos" tab on youtube to find this video again. You phrasing in this video is just amazing. Some more of these "no shredding" videos would be nice ;)
Not to sound critical but man, I've watched many Rick vids and this is really the first one where I sensed he lost touch with the melody there in the middle and wasn't sure where he wanted to go. IOW, he's human! hahahhaha Still, very nice melodic lines and tone and touch as always. I think sometimes hearing someone who's clearly a great musician make a mistake or even hesitate or whatever, it can be inspiring. haha It can say HEY, he's not superman. Maybe I can learn a few of these things? I'm glad he took the time to upload all of these vids and yes, they are in a way little ads for his site and all but I've enjoyed the heck out of watching these. I know you're not reading all your comments, who could, but thanks, Rick! You rock.
Hey man, you can go and fuck off coz no one cares about your dumb opinion. Please go and play your shitty old licks and let us enjoy rick Graham licks in peace. Now go fuck off.
Okayyy that escalated quickly. I agree that it is inspiring, and we are all aware that it is an improv. It puts the listener in place of the player and vice versa, allows for relation and shows the common denominator between him and us. A really helpful thing for those of us who are not on his level.
The conscious decisions not to shred are what causes that beautiful tension. Although I would argue that there is some tasteful shredding going on at various points here. Great work. Tasty chops. Keep rockin'. MK
One more thing... I've seen at least one of your early vids when you looked like the Pillsbury Doughboy. What you've done with your physique is amazing and I wanted to let you know that someone out here has noticed. Incroible! Thanks for all your posts.
I always search the most fantastic guitarist I can find yet this is the first I've ever heard of Rick. How in the world is that possible. Earlier today was checking out some Andy James. ( Love his playing) and there was Victory featuring Rick. That shit melted my face. Love this guy Ricks playing. One of my new favs

Has the soulful quality of Billy Gibbons' lead in "Rough Boy". All these people who think just because some can play 164th notes that they can't also play with feeling, depth, intonation and an overwhelming sense of theory should line up for a group enema. Bravo, Rick.
Wow, toan!! 🤟😎 This is what I need an Ibo for...they have a stunningly beautiful tone when used tastefully. Mm - mmmmm... Great Gilmour style playing m' man! 😎👉

It's the best I've heard you play.... Shredding is only a part of guitar it's important but still only one of the many parts it takes to be a complete guitarist.
There is a new scale that Rick uses in his pieces/improvvisations: the awesome scale. This scale makes awesome everything you play, but only Rick knows this scale. Someone think that Rick, used to contact God to learn this scale.
Very melodic, Rick. Love that tone as well, if I had the money, I'd try to get an AxeFX... Wish I could get close to this tone with normal equipment. Cheers!
you know you're a badass when you have to put "no shredding" in the title
No shredding ? That is me at my shredding speed .
This isn't even close to shred speed. Look up Michael Angel Batio and Yngwie Malmsteen, now that is shredding
oh my lord, Brian.. please, tell me you're kidding
It's a joke, charles.
Charles O'Kenneth MAB is probly the most emotionless guitarist on the planet. Rick destroys him and yngwie
Charles O'Kenneth i hear he is a master - this michael batio -
Master Batio in fact.
I love how that neck pickup sounds. It's so bright and present.
Hey for once I see one of your comments and you aren't chatting shit!

Not much bright as the bridge neck , but still much more warm and clear sound than neck for sure

the entire video was a tasty run lol
It's now 2022, and this is an eternal type of playing that will be a demonstration of perfect ability for all time.

Amazing stuff,has that 80's M.Schenker/Gary Moore/Jan Cyrka vibe.
Theres so many influences going on here at once all coming out i love it, from blues, harmonic minor/neo-classical, flamenco, jazz, simply awesome.

Nope, musical shredding is far more difficult. Bach is full on shred, fam.

yup. shredding is boring after a few minutes.. soulful soloing will never be dull

Rick I really miss these times when you used to improvise over any backing track, with or without shred... This is just amazing!
I can feel Rick holding back as much as he could.. But yet still produces great tone grea tune great playing.. That's how great he is..
after watching tons of guitars video in youtube, I must surely and regularly get back to this one. A really masterpiece
