Thanks i have the exact mold and stick from i wouldn't be suprised the same kit hes using. My boyfriend found it in a 2nd hand store in canada for $1.50 and i wanted to smooth my edges and stumbling across this video was a little bit of luck. I also dipped in wax then after a day quickly in boiling water its flawless.

I have the exact same mould from a Marks & Spencers candle kit (now defunct) bought many years ago. I've been hunting for the same mould or similar ever since. Now I've found one! I don't use tape to seal the mould but rather pour in wax until it leaks from the seam then quickly rub around it with an ice cube or two. The leaked wax quickly hardens effectively sealing the seam. Although a small amount of wax is lost it's cheaper than a roll of tape and just as effective.

Mark Hewitt just wondering...could I set the container in a pan of ice in order to create a seal...tx

Carla Nunley That would probably work but I'm not sure how it would affect the hot wax in the mould. The outer part of the candle would cool quicker than the inside which might change the way it looks. Only one way to find out! I used single ice cubes purely because it was a quick and simple method.

I have a metal mold like this, do you find the silicone molds to be easier to work with? Also I find that when they are difficult to release, putting them in the fridge for a few minutes usually helps, also I use the candle mold release spray prior to pouring. Great video! Please make more

Thanks so much for this, I bought the mould, made the candle and made a hideous mess. Now I've watched this I'll try it your way! Do you know the coolest temperature for beeswax to be still pourable so that shrinkage is minimal?

Thanks for your kind comments, +Kelvin Kersey. Temperature doesn't matter too much - simply warm it till it's fully melted and pour. Pure beeswax is very hard so it will shrink whatever you do but as long as that's even it shouldn't present too much of a problem. #kev

That mold looks like plastic...why type of plastic is that? I bought a metal round mold, but not able to extract my candle from it. The plastic looks easier to use. Please advise type of plastic. Thans.

It's abs plastic - the candle is easy to get out because the plastic flexes. makingyourowncandles.co.uk/globe-candle-mould/

It works like the stuff you need for plugging the top (visible) hole with a wick gong through it, is readily available but it's a pain to remove from the wick end that shows and can leave a blue gummy deposit. It's fine if you are making candles for family and friends but not ideal if you want to sell your candles.
