According to ST books and beta cannon(non-cbs approved) the cardassian union was occupied under the federation and was disarmed, the new government was established but mostly had there military scrapped and made to embrace federation peaceful ideas. The romulans and klingons were not allowed to invade due to the federation "protective" status, and all the alpha quardent races were crippled from the dominion war itself, the klingons had it the worse, the federation and the romulans came out with the least damage..
I was very much hoping for a swift Romulan victory over the Klingons in part 2. But it's been 6 years so I guess both sides just called it quits and went back home.

Can't wait to see who is the victor, but could there be another attack from Cardassia Prime now that the Romulans and Klingons are now turniing on each other. Was it wise of them count the Cardassians out. We shall see. Part 2 is going to rock.

Because: a) It is in her very nature of helping almost destroyed civilisations survive b) I expect that Cardassians would be protected and helped by the Federation since they allied with her at the end of the Dominion Wars! c) The outcome of the Dominion Wars made Federation the greatest superpower of the known universe! Klingons and Romulans are too weak to stand against her -and both lost wars against them (so they won't underestimete her)!
The eyes are supposed to house the disruptors. They were never intended to be firing from the middle of the deflector shield. The main torpedo launcher is on the top of the warbird.
If I was the Federation I would have been at the party as well. I would have taken every colony we gave up during the first cardassians border war and supported my Klingon allies.
Sad thing is, the instability within the Union after the Dominion War was so bad, with changes in government, the machinations of the remnants of the Obsidian Order, and what-not, that Star Fleet Intelligence needed to have a daily briefing prepared that they called, "Keeping Up with the Cardassians..."

Only downside to Kobayashi Maru mod - the Cardassian vessels don't show damage until they've been destroyed.

With all those Negh ver and Vor cha class attack cruisers I think the Klingons would take it easily!
Maybe they are able to destroy a galor class cruiser but they could never win against a D'deridex

Firefly did it correctly with no sound in space. The lack of sound of weapons fire really added something intimidating to the effects.
