i think the Nau/Galleon should have both melee attack against other ships and siege/ranged attack against coastal cities to be historically spot on and complete
Also, I think it would be pretty neat if there was a mod or game mode or a policy card or something that made your available trade routes scale with the number of available luxury&bonus resources. I understand it's a balancing mechanic, but I've always found it annoying that trade is mainly restricted by the number of cities you have, no matter how large or specialised they are. You can't really build a tall trading empire, you have to go wide. Having the level 2 & 3 harbour and commercial hub buildings also give additional trade routes could be another way to have trade scale more with specialisation rather than just sheer number of cities.
@@AliRadicali wouldnt that just make wide empires even more powerful over tall because you would just double the amount of trade routes a city can have without any negatives
@@mrdrprofsteve506 It'd be a matter of specific numbers/mechanics of course, but I can imagine ways to work around that. For example if the real payoff only comes from a fully developed harbour/hub, going wide means you spend a longer time working suboptimal trade districts. Right now you get the main payoff with the market or lighthouse, and from that point on you can just ignore the city and let it trade, which fits better with a wide playstyle. Another option would be to scale trade with the size of the host city similar to the way the district cap works.

Only 7 minutes in, and as a kind of casual-intermediate level civ player, I'm wondering why you want both the government plaza and diplomatic quarter in the same specific city, and what purpose it holds in that city as opposed to your planned coastal cities? I understand their importance or relevance to be built in the first place (extra governor titles, diplo favour, influence, and the good buildings built inside both) but am I missing something as to why you want them in the same land-locked city as opposed to your coastal ones? Is it because they take up district slots in the coastal cities making it harder to get 4+ districts? Is it to give better adjacency bonus to the other districts you plan on building inland? Sorry for the winding post/multiple questions! x_x
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe potato does this so he can get adjacency bonuses for his industrial districts since they're harder to get bonuses for than science or religion bonuses
Yeah, I think its because they take up district slots that would be better spent on harbors, commercial hubs and campuses. Getting those sick trade routes up should be prioritized, so his other cities wouldn't be able to produce govt/diplo until pop 7 or 10, which is kind of late. By dedicating a single city to those, he can get them up faster which should be more impactful than delaying them.
I agree. Only really reason is to avoid taking up the harbor/comm hub/campus in the other cities but still let it get built. Only real thing to watch for with the diploma quarter is make sure its next to city center. I usually pair it with a space port or put it in a useless city so to not take a district slot
