Linus is being way too optimistic about the whole react situation. If reddit thread is to be believed, Fine brothers have already mishandled this whole thing, from multiple censorship bouts and recomments, DMCAs to some videos, edits to announcement and reclarifications, etc. It seems like fame got them....
+simonmana What does that even mean? People are pissed because they're being greedy and hypocritical while trying to tell everyone they only care about the community. Bullshit is one thing most of the internet hates and they rang that bell pretty damn hard. Reddit is used by millions of people. Generalizing them all makes you look stupid.
+haloShAdOwSnIpE Maybe ever so slighty - but then again - why would you buy a dedicated GPU if it is only barely better than the iGPU you already have?
***** No need to apologize for you English. I am Chinese, so probably I made a mistake. What I mean is basically "Easy to explain, his girlfriend is his beard." And beard is code for fake girlfriends gay men take to disguise themselves as straight men.
She does, but there is thousands of professional cosplayers. So yeah, I don't think well known companies will sue cosplayers that have a huge potensial to do something big. They will just fuck themselfs over. Ms. Nigri sells prints, and makes costumes and mainly Anime stuff.
I can't believe that they actually defended the fine bros, they've always been going after other react videos and have even accused Ellen for stealing from them after having kids react to old technology even though it was a completely different format. All the shit they are saying is just PR bullshit, they're trying to completely capture all react videos that fall under their huge umbrella
+Matt Pocock I can't believe anyone would want to license a reaction video from the fine bros. This all sounds like a lot of bullshit. What idiot would want to give money to them for some logos and a 'formula' you can can copy any way without their consent?
+Matt Pocock because finebros and linus are under fullscreen. the party wipe must be strong or it must be in the contract, for them not to say "negative" stuff about other fullscreen network affiliates
+Solkia2010 We try to keep them as accurate as possible, but they are according to the Twitch stream, and the stream starts at different times for everyone, do they can be up to a minute off, but we do the best we can.
You should make a video on the benefits (and drawbacks?) of a high monitor refresh rate. I can't speak from experience, but I feel as though if I pay more for a higher than 60htz refresh rate, that extra refresh rate isn't worth the extra money at all.
Much smoother motion look during quick turns, if your graphics can keep up. Drawback, your graphics are less likely to keep up for things like Vsync, etc. I actually MUCH more prefer 120Hz 1080p over 30Hz "4K," which use the same data rate and theoretically processing power as each other.
WR3ND Yeah, the difference between 60fps and 30fps in games IS very apparent, but I'm just wondering how much of an improvement there would be with going from 60htz to 100 or 144htz. For non-VR applications, I'm thinking that the benefits would be pretty small. Then again, I'm a cheapo and I don't like to spend money on things. :)
Yeah, you're going to get diminishing returns. I still think 120Hz over 60Hz is a worthwhile upgrade though. You can't as easily tell a difference, but it just seems smoother. I'm one of those guys that can't stand motion blur and like everything to be as crisp and smooth as possible, as long as I'm not looking at a weird pixelated image with jagged lines. I did some testing using an LED on an Arduino a while ago. When it was in motion in my peripheral vision, I could notice it flashing between on and off cycles all the way down to 1 millisecond, the equivalent of 1,000Hz. I couldn't tell that it was flashing while looking directly at it though.
WR3ND I do agree with what you're saying, except for the led thing. When in motion, even if it's flashing REALLY fast, so long as the flashes don't 'overlap' each other in your view, you'll see the flashing in the form of a dotted line. If you move it fast enough, you'll always see that it is blinking. Side note: Most LED christmas lights don't convert the 60htz AC out of the wall into DC, so if you move your view around a lot while looking at them, you can see that their blinking. (Which may be why they give people headaches sometimes.)
I was just mentioning it since I think it's at least somewhat comparable to having more peripheral motion in a scene, where higher refresh rates would be a bit more important to overall visual quality and sense of smoothness, but you're right that it isn't a direct comparison though. To clarify, it wasn't the flashing LED's time delay specifically that I was trying to say that I was able to notice and comprehend, just that it was blinking at all. Even before being able to notice the separate flashes of light in my vision, the LED just looked weird when it was in motion, or when my angle of vision changed, almost as if it was jumping around.
Does anyone else love that The WAN Show comes out early on Saturday so that you can watch it while waiting for PKA? I love them both but I love how it works out.
I'm sure I'm way too late on this, but re: The Fine Bros thing.. They are NOT licensing assets, and if you read their FAQ, it even says they are not doing that. It's incredibly unclear what exactly they ARE licensing, or what those terms are, but y'all seemed REALLY misinformed on this issue. Anyhow, beyond that, great show.
www.finebrosent.com/reactworldfaq/: "Can I use your show graphics, logos, and actors? We are not currently making these resources available to creators."
+Get Rikt It is incredibly unclear and i doubt Linus meant they would be licensing actual logos or graphics. Television channels buy show licenses aswell, but change the graphics or the names of the show sometimes but i guess keep a format or a 'template of execution' of some sorts. Its really vague sometimes.
+Get Rikt This show is becoming a The Young Turks type show where a couple hosts prattle on about shit they have no clue what they're discussing in any rational sense or in depth. They take the fine bros at their very word and ignore their previous actions along with the ability and responsibilities that come along with trademarking anything. If Linus and his sidekick were actually right on this topic, it would have sailed through without problem. People and companies trademark stuff every single day without issue. If there is an issue, it is not a normal thing.

In Sweden, there has been an On Demand-streaming service from the national TV company (SVT) since 2006, which is freely accessible. I feel you hardcore, Linus at the 30min mark. My ol' 87 Toyota Hilux is about as manual as it gets. No a/c like you, heat, standard shifter, crank windows, carbbed engine, manual hubs, 2 speed settings for wipers, basically on or very on. And it is all old and in need of replacement :p still love that 22r yota though. Would love to have an old school Honda like yours.
On the low-end cards: A friend was rocking a 2008 Athlon-"whatever" by adding a 50 buck video card, the machine got 1.5x its´ cinebench score for CPU. It is still not a gaming machine but it did only cost 460 bucks since purchase in 2008. Edit: The machine was never aimed at gaming! It is a look at photos and texts to put them on websites.

In regards to 50:18, Compaq was well known in the 90's for building high end workstations and servers that were pretty much top of the line for their time. When HP acquired Compaq they renamed all the good products to HP products and started only pushing cheap products through the Compaq name. A good example is the famous Proliant sever family which was originally a Compaq product. Just a little bit of useless history :p

So, for MadVR, the best video decoder, the upscaling algorythms can take better advantage of a dedicated card like this than your iGPU. That's actually a pretty big segment of the high-end HTPC market who care about stuff like this that preforms decently and can run fanless, or at least very quiet.
