- The Ghost and Molly McGee had a very strong first season, giving us a hilarious, sweet, episodic show with a strong emotional core and great characters. So, how does Season 2 build on that? And did giving Molly a love interest ruin the show?

It is. It’s absolutely great and Disney should definitely give the show a third season. Will see the Chen’s learn that not all ghosts are bad? Will we see Scratch and Adia reunite? Will Andrea discover more of herself and her romantic interests? Will we see more Libby, because she’s the best? Will Molly enhappify us all?
We need that Season 3.
If Disney pulls an "Owl House" on this show then I will join Ollie in arson

I absolutely love this show! It’s so cute, heartfelt and we need more cartoons like this especially on Disney channel. Most of the cartoons lately on Disney are animated adventure fantasy series that tend to follow a formula: lighthearted slice of life season 1, dramatic trauma season 2, and big epic showdown in season 3.
And there’s definitely some trauma, (look no further than Scratch and Libby) but every episode still ends on a positive note. Not everything needs to be super dark and dramatic.

@@mysticalkeyblade759 Big City Greens is kinda like this. i dont like it as much as The Ghost and Molly McGee but it’s still a fun mostly episodic show with some bigger stakes for a few season finales. there are A LOT of episodes tho, and i dont just mean the 11 minute segments. season 1 and 2 have 30 full episodes each and season 3 has 20 so it is a bit of a time commitment

Honestly this video hit me like a bullet train. I literally almost started crying because I never realized how big of an impact that this show has made on my life.
Absolutely same. It’s just such an authentic, genuine, and FUN show about the power of kindness, love, optimism and positivity. It’s a show that the whole world just desperately needs.
It’s especially because it gives you a little break from the life threatening problems and goes for the more emotional route and every day little problems.

In general I really liked season 2, it has it's issues but it is definitely a step up from season 1 and I hope Disney does not scrap it before it is greenlit for a S3

Season 2 actually has a higher ratings than season 1. And yes the Ollie hate is really unnecessary. I've had a discussion with someone and he said that Ollie us combination of Belos and Andrias and that he's gonna betray Molly and Scratch this season. Wth?

I’ve been hooked on the show ever since the first episode. I really love how very character focused it is and all the relationships with everyone feels very genuine. Hopefully it will get picked up for season three.
Honestly, Ollie grew on me as the series went on, I just didn’t “enjoy” him at first because he was an absolute obvious gender alternative to Molly, at least in my perspective. Either than that, yeah, I actually like him as a character, he’s really great and I can’t wait for more of him. However, I STILL DEMAND MORE OF JUNE CHEN!!!
As for Scratch, it’s interesting how we’re some lore about his past and I swear Dana Snyder is just NAILING his voice!!!
Not much I can say about Molly, which is great because ever since we were introduced to her, I just saw nothing pure determination for positivity!!! She’s still supportive of everyone and just amazing. I SWEAR ASHLY BURCH IS JUST THE GREATEST!!!
I also wanna give some huggies for Libby. You really can’t have too much Libby in one episode and that’s a fact.
As for Andrea, I’m never gonna stop being Fandrea and if I have to then I WILL GO OUT AS A FANDREA!!!
I think a great example of how a slice of life show like this can still have changes to the status quo is the episode where the family take in Grandma Nin (even though she's only got a sprained hand) and she feels like she's being suffocated by her own family, and then she meets some good friends from the nearby retirement home, which she's now gonna stay at, giving the show more opportunities for her to appear in Brighton, and it feels personal since my grandma went though something similar a few years ago, initially my aunt and uncle took care of her (my aunt being the sister of my dad, and being a nurse helps), but eventually we decided to move her to a retirement home close to where I live to the point that it's literally a walk across the bridge to her place, meaning I can visit her from time to time
You make a wonderful recap!!! This show was amazing all around and honestly had no right to be this good... but darn it, I laughed, I cried... and in the end gave an emotional hug goodbye, through a smile of love.
They hit this show out of the park, and gave it a meaningful ending that was so heartfelt and endearing... couldn't help but smile.
Please Disney, give this show a season 3, its perfect for everyone regardless of age, its fun, wholesome, and even down to earth which is ironic considering its about ghosts. But yeah i want to see more of June to. I think we might see more of her and the Chens during the 2nd Christmas Special.
People think that season 1 episodes 18 and 19 should have been swapped but the plot of molly making scratch with joy sets up the finale and molly wanting to never forget her friends makes sense since she almost never saw her friends again in episode 18
At the core this show not about the lore, the world ending stacks, evil villains, hero’s va. The villain, and dangerous missions! At the end of the day it about the characters! Ollie, Libby, Andrea, Abia, and so much more and of course the friendship of Molly and Scratch! It’s a slice of life ani- I mine show that just about that and it’s a nice breath of freaks hair for someone that came back from Amphbia, Owl House and Gravity Falls. Just to take a breather and just see a show that silly but also so deep and real! The growth of characters show you don’t need a villain or going to anther world to change them. Like in real life people change and this show is prefect! Yes we had some high stacks but we never got stacks of world ending. Basically what is that don’t hate a show seasons without knowing what the show is! The Ghost and Molly McGee great a showing this that it always falls back on what this show is meant to be. Just a grumpy ghost and a teen girl who are best friends. It’s silly, funny, musical, light hearted, and this moments that change the characters in a great way. It’s time to smile and see what this show really is and be happy we are here for the ride.
Now one last thing…Ollie did not ruin The Ghost and Molly McGee! Slam that on a t shirt! 😁

This season has been amazing and I would absolutely say better than the first season. Not only does it feel like we’re building off plot threads from last season- Andrea and Molly’s newfound friendship, the Ghost Council and Jinx, and a ton of stuff that’s had one off focus like Sharon’s art, wraiths as a concept, and even Kenny Star recently. But we also get new plot threads, like the Chens and Ollie overcoming his hate of ghosts, Jinx’s revenge being in the background, and finally learning about Scratch’s past. I especially appreciate that one since season 1 only ever had one throwaway line where Sharon asked what Scratch’s last name was and he had no answer, which is recontextualized as he doesn’t know what it was.
The show is like some amazing mish mash of a story focused show that is also largely slice of life where tons of these episodes are directly calling back to previous plots and continuing where they left off or indirectly just following on certain characters and checking back with where they are now, with plenty of fun romps unrelated to anything but just seeing these characters on a wacky misadventure.
And I absolutely have been loving season 2 since it is building off what it made before while also establishing new plots to follow in season 2. Everything feels purposeful in this show- even as far back as season 1, with the episode A Very Hungry Ghost, you can see Jeff in the crowd of ghosts that showed up for the feast, and Geoff and Jeff are sharing food together. IT WAS PLANNED FROM THE START and it’s such a blink and you’ll miss it moment but it just makes everything feel like it was planned before episode 1. And I love how this show perfectly blends the slice of life unhinged nonsense with continuity that works to build better episodes.
I can admit, I kinda wish we could see more of the Ghost Council and see how they might react to Molly (knowingly) and more of them and Scratch. And Ollie needs an Ollie/Scratch solo episode with Molly off doing something. There’s some fun potential we haven’t gotten yet that I’d wanna see more of, but what we have been getting is incredible.
And one last thing- I’ve heard theories that Todd, the random super sullen guy is actually Scratch’s human body and that Scratch is a wraith. And to go one step beyond, I’m theorizing Jinx is Adia. Both lack human names that every other ghost we’ve seen has, the flashback in All in the Mind definitely had human Scratch looking like Todd. And there’s the obvious seemingly throwaway line of Todd lacking a soul in The Jig is Up which seemed like a joke he’s just burnt out, but could actually be literal that Scratch *was* Todd before now. Would definitely add stakes to the eventual Jinx showdown the season is building toward.

Season 2 had been wonderful so far. I enjoyed the first season and I believe that season 2 helped to push things further. I also appreciate how this show tackled some topics that some shows would hesitate on like the thought of not being considered mature/grown up (A Period Place) or feeling like an outcast in your family's culture (100% Molly McGee). It also knows how to balance crazy and funny moments with heartfelt and down-to-earth scenes. It's like you're laughing in one moment and in the next you are emotional. It's also a great comfortable slice-of-life show that is great for simply chilling.
As for Ollie Chen, I still stand by him being a wonderful inclusion to the cast. I already said my piece on the Mollie dynamic, but to keep it brief, I love their chemistry. What started as love, at first sight, has now shifted into them being friends for now. I can still see them getting together, but as a couple who truly understand one another as opposed to a simple crush.
The Chens and Adia are definitely my favorite parts of the season.
I’m ALWAYS down for some Scratch lore and I’m excited to see the crew expand on him even more!
and the Chens are just fun to watch for me- especially Ollie but that’s probably because he gets the most screentime, he’s just so endearing for me to watch. He kinda feels like a straight man to all of the shenanigans in Brighton (since both Molly, Scratch and even Libby can get too chaotic).
Also maybe it’s just a personal bias because he’s very similar to Molly except less hyperactive which is adorable ✨
I also wanna mention Davenport’s in Demise is actually the first Andrea episode I actually loved! (unless Period piece counts)
Her other episodes were more of ok episodes for me
Hooray for Mollywood was ok (tho I liked the episode before she came in tbh), Davenport’s on Demand was kinda cliche and boring. And The Don’t-Gooder just made me mad and seeing Molly suffer and Andrea getting undeserved credit was NOT fun to watch and it became my least favorite episode 💀
Davenport’s in Demise was actually very entertaining, the story is something I’ve never seen before in a cartoon. Sure cartoons have tackled social media but it’s more focused on cyberbullying and dealing with hate comments which are very important topics. But this is the first time I’ve seen a cartoon tackle the perspective of a content creator.
And the experience Andrea went through is so real 💀
as a content creator I have been through my own identity crisis on what content I wanna make
I loved the references to different genres of content creators! I grew up with the internet so seeing the different references was very fun
The song in that episode has also become one of my favorites (it’s way too catchy)
This show has actually done such an incredible job accurately representing social media and the internet without ever feeling ‘how do you do fellow kids?’

The ghost and Molly McGee May not be a show like Amphibia or The Owl house, but I love it. Especially Season 2 cuz that's what I really really like about this show. The Characters, 10/10 the New story, 10/10 The Episodes 10/10 Love (almost) Everything in Season 2

The way that certain "other" video presented their argument, you would've assumed TGMM had devolved into some ship-bait fanfiction where every episode was about Molly and Ollie getting together, when in reality it's just adding another dimension to the story.
I really wish people wouldn’t look down on slice of life shows just because they don’t always have long drawn out overarching plots, listen, Gravity Falls, Amphibia, and The Owl House were all fantastic shows, but it really bothers when those shows are treated like some sort of gold standard that all shows following them need to meet, Hailey’s On It had been announced for about a day when a video popped up in my recommend page that was titled something along the lines of ‘Is This The New Owl House’. Phineas and Ferb is probably going to go down as one of the most beloved cartoons from the early 2000s, and that is a show that is 100% a lighthearted slice of life show with incredibly low stakes, cartoons that are grittier and cover darker topics are great, but more lighthearted shows shouldn’t discredited just because they’re lighthearted.
I freaking hate the whole ‘X show is the next Y’ thing people do. Can we not just let shows be their own things?
When this show first came out, I felt a sense of magic I hadn’t felt since Phineas and Ferb came out. And that hasn’t gone away! It’s only gotten better!! This show makes me feel like a kid again. It’s hilarious, it’s fun, it’s got great music and great characters, but there’s also so much more to it! It all feels so genuine and grounded. Not to say that that never happened with Phineas and Ferb (moments like Heartstrings to Hero in Candace Against the Universe come to mind) but with Molly McGee, it’s a common occurrence. Editing the part of this video with all of the clips that hit harder after the reveal of Scratch and Adia legit made me cry.
I think this show came along at a time when the world needed it most. This whole thing is built on kindness and empathy at a time when it feels like those things are scarce.
I like how all of us in this comment section and channel just kinda formed a small following of fans that actually appreciate the show for what it is and not for what people expect it to be :)
I think I can predicted two upcoming episodes thanks to Davenport’s in Demise.
Episode 1: Linda needs Molly’s help trying to apologize to Patty for what happened with Bobby Daniel.
Episode 2: Andrea get fed up with her dad only for Libby to help her when mentioning her own dad’s absence in her life.
This is has been my top Disney show after owl house, amphibia, and gravity falls ended, I have been a fan of this show since the first 5 episodes aired on disney+ and I hope this show gets a season 3!!

THis was such a good video and a good summary of why I love TGaMM! I don't watch it for 'ghost world lore' or for this grand story about Molly and Scratch overcoming some grand evil villain. I watch it for the same reasons I watch BCG - the hilarious jokes, fun animation and stories, enjoyable and lovable characters, and all the wholesome moments of family and friendship. I also really love TGaMM's emphasis on community and the importance of spreading happiness. Given that s2 has succeeded in giving me all these things, I certainly consider it a great season in spite of one or two minor flaws. I really don't get why people would want it to be another Owl House or Amphibia, it's just not necessary! But yeah, another excellent vid, I just really hope we get a s3 - I know Bill and Bob have said that the s2 finale would be still be satisfying whether or not we got a s3, but I just really wanna keep seeing these characters. (also how dare you nearly make me cry with that 'story of a ghost' montage, lol)

Answering your question about why Geoff and Jeff are friends with Jinx, I think it's because Geoff by nature is a guy who can't hold any kind of grudge, so knowing that the president had been defeated, he wanted to celebrate by giving a chance even to a ghost who has always done important jobs for the president the possibility of feeling free, Jeff instead being his partner I suppose you support it, then I don't exclude that Jeff's typical warning about hurting Geoff to Jinx took place off-screen XD
The newest episode is gotta be the best cause it tackles soo much about global warming and we need alot of people to compromise rather than just two people to have a better earth and I also love andrea's development and also her family, the writers definitely knew where they're taking the plot and I kinda relate a bit to andrea about what if your life is not exactly as planned and I would definitely take that episode as advise in the future and just be me

Musim 2-nya The Ghost And Molly McGee sebenarnya yang aku tunggu-tunggu sejak aku masih melihat yang pertamanya. Menurutku sih seru dong, tak hanya yang lain masih menyukai yang lain. Setidaknya Molly McGee juga sebuah jawaban untuk SpongeBob, kalau nggak salah. Toh hantunya nggak seserem apanya gitu, dan Molly nggak takut dengan itu. Aneh, tapi edaaan, seru juga tuh. Another thing I saw is how Jinx mentioned she hates strawberries. The soda they drank was the strawberry soda. If the two were actually friends, maybe she connects strawberries to the promise the two made of always remembering each other. Maybe Scratch never reached out to her after she moved away🤔

I do have some gripes with Season 2 and a part of me likes Season 1 more on a personal level.
BUT THAT SAID, I won't deny that Season 2 is still phenomenal and in many ways continues what made Season 1 great and managed to up the quality of the show.
As for Ollie, I said what I already said in my comment in the Ollie Chen Defense video and I made a thread defending the character, while he's not my favorite character he's still a good character regardless and does not deserve the hate he gets.
Andrea and Libby are the MVP's this season for me. Like Father, Like Libby is the best episode of Season 2 so far IMO and I like what they're doing with Andrea's character especially with what I saw in Home is Where the Haunt is.
But yeah, I agree with you that Season 2 is really great so far despite what others say. Another great video Chandler. ^_^

The new episode about climate change in particular was far more based than I was expecting!
It was such a good conclusion to come to, because the fact of the matter is, there’s little things we can all do on our own to help the environment, but real change happens when there’s large-scale efforts made.

They usually do it in blocks of five episodes, so it’ll probably be a few more weeks.
According to someone I asked on the Fandom wiki for this show. The rest of Season 2 (Up to the Kenny Star episode) will be on Disney+ on Sept 20th.
After that all the episodes that aired on TV will be on D+ and everyone will be caught up if they didn’t watch those episodes on TV or the Disney Watch thing already.

I think the season is pretty good, but at least so far I think the first season is better. I also have a few problems with the season but overall it’s solid. My biggest problem with the season is that there’s no real threatening antagonist anymore. Sure there are still some villains, but none of them are actually threatening. I feel like getting rid of the chairman at the end of season one was a mistake, and there are still a lot of unanswered questions about him so hopefully those get answered at some point during the show
I strongly disagree about the old Chairman. He’s like Snoke in Star Wars. He’s evil, and now he’s dead. I don’t care about the unanswered questions about him because he was never really that interesting to begin with. He was the embodiment of misery. What more do you want to know?
What’s important is the journey our main characters go on. Season 2 is largely about dealing with changes as well as personal conflicts.
The only problem I have with season 2 is how there’s a song in every episode. Don’t get me wrong, it’s creative and awesome how they made their own songs for each episode and some of them are catchy, but I don’t see the point. Some songs are pointless in my opinion, like the “In Your Mind” song. Don’t get me wrong, it’s catchy, funny, and Molly’s voice is beautiful, but it’s just talking about her going to find Scratch’s secret.

Also, to bring up a point I've seen mentioned both on tumblr and on a certain youtuber's video, I don't believe any episodes of TGaMM s2 are 'preachy'. Like- just because a show focuses on serious topics like periods/cultural identity/climate change or has morals that are presented in a blunt and clear way instead of as some metaphor doesn't make it 'preachy'. If you don't like shows that focus more on characters learning lessons, just say that :/ Ugh, so annoying...
I’m just now thinking about how weird it is that Molly killed the chairman. He was already a ghost. Did he double die? And also can I just say how out of character it is for molly to just kill someone. You could say that she didn’t know her touch was going to kill the chairman which is probably true, but for her to not even have a little bit of guilt about literally murdering somebody feels very out of character for her
The Chairman wasn’t really a person though, he was the embodiment of misery. And he and the ghost council were totally cool with banishing her and Scratch to an eternity of the flow of failed phantoms. I don’t think she should feel bad about it.

@@barelyhere7200 Well he's a phantasm that was never really implied as being an actual person, he feeds off misery and it was pretty much shown that he was an embodiment due to how Molly's joy killed him the way it did, none of the other ghosts Molly touched ended up being dissolved the way the chairman was and I assume that was mostly because they were actual people who died, which pretty much imply that he was never a person who lived beforehand and was just created in some way I guess, so I wouldn't necessarily say Molly killed a "person"
@@DiamondDrizzle it was never stated in the show that the chairman is the embodiment of misery. So until we get confirmation I still think it’s possible that the chairman was an actual person
Yeah I have never gotten the critizezem of season 2 i find season 2 to be great and personally I like it more than season 1

People expect an antagonist to be around for the FULL story not get killed off.
Supreme Leader Snoke is a good example of this.
Imagine if Luz had killed Belos in the 1st season and then become Empress and had to deal.
or for a plot that actually did happen, Amphibia season 2 finally / season 3 part 1
When a show changes some thing it shakes up the audience.
You will always have fans of the Saturday morning cartoon formula. He-Man, Thundercats, TMNT 80s where the big bad is always there and nothing changes.
or as some fans have stated in videos (at the cost of subscribers) the story is better if there is no big bad and the characters just go on silly adventures you can watch out of order and nothing happens.
Some times the reverse is true. Star VS. Legend of Kora knew how to bring in a new big bad every next season.
MLP FiM was very low stakes except for a big bad on the book ends.
In the case of Ghost and Molly, I think it works. Change the focus of the show. Show us consequences of actions.
we're getting some thing that is rarely done the heroes one and now we are seeing what happens after "The end"
I like it. The new characters on the show work as a parody of some of the old 80s tropes and the fun we want from these characters is still there. and most importantly, we push forward the limits of what cartoons can discuss with children.
and because its a Disney cartoon and not an HBO live action drama , the whole world isn't talking about it so there are no adults to freak out over what it's done. Its gone largely under the raider.
TV talk shows and the News Media have limited them selves to a world of Supreme Leader Snoke, Lost, Game of Thrones.
The World of UA-cam is locked in to Gravity Falls, Amphibia , Owl House So look at who has NO IDEA that LGBT , puberty and mixed Race content is in cartoons.
The world is divided in to these two groups. Those who obsess over Live Action and also Recent stuff and those who obsess over cartoons, video games and comics. The former controls what the latter watches and since they are blissfully unaware of what WE watch we get to slip a few things past them and enjoy it.
There’s a whole video I’m likely gonna do at some point about how fan theories (a la everyone obsessing over who Snoke was in Star Wars) and theory culture have done a ton to ruin media literacy. People are so hell-bent on figuring out all the secrets and being proven right about something that they don’t ever just sit back and enjoy things as they unfold anymore.
@@SunnylandProds My thought on that is while it did ruin Star Wars, it Saved Owl House and Gravity Falls . It can be good or bad. When we think we know how a story should go and get let down that often ruins a story. Indiana Jones, Batman Vs Superman, the Flash TV series but when you talk Gravity Falls or Owl House I think it saves the series.
@@SunnylandProds I feel that exact same sentiment. There is too much of an obsession with lore-driven shows that people seem to forget that slice-of-life or episodic shows can be just as (if not even more) fun. It kinda helps that most of the shows I've watched in the last few months (Kubo-san, Gumball, Thomas, El Chavo and of course Molly McGee) have been episodic/slice-of-life shows that just allow you to have fun with its characters without necessarily ignoring powerful themes and good life messages.
@@sasamichan the thing with Gravity Falls though is that the mystery element was built into the series and was part of the fun. Alex posting a fake leak on Reddit to throw everyone off comes to mind.
And I think with The Owl House, the fans still largely managed expectations. I don’t ever remember seeing anyone throw a fit because the show didn’t do something they had predicted.
Of course it’s fun to make guesses about what’s going to happen, and an established franchise like Star Wars obviously doesn’t exist in a vacuum, so expectations will be brought to it regardless, but people need to learn how to temper their expectations and keep an open mind.
@@SunnylandProds I agree at least most of the time. Owl House had a few fan thoughts luz's palisman, King's Father, The Collector's game, who cursed Eda, some people really wanted Lumity to break up and become strait. Some wanted an in canon crossover. But I don't think any one raged over it. It'll be fun to see what shows or movies you bring up.
I remember being very against "The Titan wakes up" but that never turned me off

The Ghost and Molly Mc Gee will not become the Sonic Fanbase and that is that ..... on the other .... i felt a bit Proud for the show because i literally said to my brother who also watches TGAMM ...""see ! our first nutcase Sonic-fandom level fan, that is the sign, that now we made it, we are a real successful cartoon now !""

The thing is, I think Disney’s learned from The Owl House and is actively avoiding making the same mistakes. Which is why they haven’t renewed it yet. They wanted to see how Season 2 did. And it’s been getting good ratings and it’s been doing really well on Disney+, so I’m hoping it’s just a matter of time before the show officially gets renewed.
@@SunnylandProds yeah, its pretty hard to reliable fact check this though :I ....and i am not taking any chances ..... i mean i know Molly is pretty much the Last active Disney Giant in the realm of Cartoons still Standing and cancelling that would almost be suicidal.... buuut those are still the ones who got nicknamed Dosney for a reason .....they have been actively self destructive before ....many times in fact..... so it can't hurt....and i will not dare speaking out the line, of right possibilities to avoid things going ways were they shouldn't ....ya know JUST IN CASE :D
