How to Flatten Live Edge Slabs with a Sawmill

- In this video we use our Woodland Mills HM130Max Portable Sawmill to flatten live edge slabs.
It can be a challenge when starting a woodworking project using slabs. They tend to bend and bow during the drying process. Using a bandsaw mill makes quick work of flattening slabs before beginning the sanding process.
Using a router sled is a messy process but can be used to flatten live edge if you've got the space. Alternatively, if you have access to a bandsaw mill, it is a fine tool for flatten slabs to a workable level.
With the popularity of lived edge slabs and at-home work working enthusiast, I'm thrilled to share this method.
Thanks for watching!
What was the length of time in the climate control to dry? Again before/afters for moisture content? I just started doing my wood splitting as the barn was rebuilt and had some at 31% when I began but a few weeks “aging” in the barn has already got it down to below 20%.
Would love to hear a long term update on the GMC
@badgerlandturf I certainly didn't want to rush the drying process to limit checking but keep the basement just under 40% in the summer, and less in the winter. These have only been down there 7-ish months, but not sure how quickly they got below 15%.
I've only had the truck for 2 months... aging like a fine wine!
Can’t wait to see the final product!! Wicked nice work! Would the table hold the weight of a Grom?
@@603Steward 🤣 probably not this one!
Is that the speedway noise in the background? 😄
@@ProductiveRecreation it sure is... they get their laps in anytime the weather's fair.
Very Special, Keep up the good work. 😊🙂
@mikecummings8067 Will do! 😄
Gave you a like, YT won't show it.
Thank you, Sir! She's finicky like that...
