@@antivenom56 not at all, Ron was the first black world champion of course, but Booker T brought the swag💯 Ron Simmons was a pioneer but Booker T was a little bit cooler in my opinion
He actually did say this during a promo leading up to their Wrestlemania match and the crowd went nuts. Unfortunately HHH’s reign of terror squashed Booker’s push.
I've got other favourite wrestlers, but booker T is the one I've always wanted to meet in person and have a chat with, his charisma in conversations is just so infectious
So glad booker was one of those old school guys I actually got to see wrestle live like Taker, Angle, Mark Henry, Mysterio, Benoit, Finlay, Matt Hardy & Gregory helms
I still love the OG tag team version of this song with Harlem heat. A big build up with some ominous laughter and then the music hits. It was something else.
Booker t was so fucking awesome glad people giving him his flowers he’s been awesome since G.I bro like seriously his whole career he’s stayed true to himself and always had such a cool style Harlem heat , Harlem hangover the spinaroonie / scissor kick were such cool moves put it into one package it was gold speaking of gold the five time legend was funny as well the king booker run really solidified him as a living legend also always loved how booker t said tell me he did not just say that sorry for no punctuation I’m lazy 😂 but I really wanted to fanboy out for booker t always been one of my favorites
Booker T is one of the best to do it. One of my all time favorites. I played with his character in the n64 game WCW vs NWO Revenge. That kick was unblockable!
The one thing WWE got right with Booker T 😏😄. That intro line in WCW felt like an attempt to be like The Rock to me. He already had a catch phrase can you dig it Sucka but after he became champ they ADDED a catch phrase and attached it to his theme smh. When in actuality he didn't use any catch phrase to lead into his music for years. At least WWE used the better phrase. Can you dig it Sucka is way more catchy and flowed better into the music.
"can you dig it sucka" was such an iconic line from american media in the 70's and 80's, my personal favourite usage of a variant of the phrase is in the warriors movie and game which is set in that time period.
Booker T was one of my favorites back in the day. Lots of fun times watching his matches during the Harlem Heat days, his WCW champ days, then getting KotR and champs in WWE. The fight in the grocery store with SCSA was particularly memorable, too.
I like he was one of the only wrestlers with his voice over an intro. I know that was a handful more but atm, Besides Hurricane I can't think of anyone else
Booker T’s whole career was dedicated to the culture 💯 He’s paved ways for generations of black wrestlers 🔥
Nash even said 'he was the first real black wrestler' meaning he was just allowed to be himself and not a character
Are you forgetting about Ron Simmons?
@@antivenom56 not at all, Ron was the first black world champion of course, but Booker T brought the swag💯 Ron Simmons was a pioneer but Booker T was a little bit cooler in my opinion
It just sucks how he was used at first in WWE. He shoulda beat triple H
Teddy Long recognized that. Long went thru hell during his days.
“Don’t hate the playa, hate the game” coulda been neat to have during his feud with Triple H (the game😂)
@@mrbransformer4184to remind him who runs the company & how far he will go

Can’t really forget it. Cause, it was Harlem Heat’s theme. Before, Booker took it as his own.
Hearing this brings me back 😢
Man I grew up on Booker and Harlem Heat at WCW! Loved him forever and I used to try his spin
I am so glad I grew up with the "Can you dig it? Sucka" version of Booker's theme song
I love how he lets his band shine at the end.
He was my first favorite wrestler, as a Black kid in the 90's I looked up to him. He's definitely a Wrestling Legend!

You can hear booker's music actually sampled from MJ's song "who is it?" at the 3:40 mark in that song.
It also uses a sampe from Kraftworks Musique Non Stop
