I used to do journaling, but then I stopped as I thought I was doing it wrong. I've since started looking at journaling, and found out about junk journaling. This idea with minimalism is sort of what I was doing, but then I stopped. This video has been so helpful, and helped change my thoughts on what I was doing!

So happy to see you back. Sorry you fell under the weather. Illness is a miserable state. You have such an important voice in the junk journalling world to me because you ask questions, do research and then discuss. Not many people do that and I think that is an important aspect of … eh … developing an art form. I always enjoy watching your episodes no matter what you do. Thank you so much for sharing your passion and art with us. Happy you are on the mend! 💕💕💕💕💕

Long live clutter!! Haha! I love clutter and “busy” so on one hand I struggled w this bc I look at some minimalist work as unfinished or like they gave up. I cannot do less is more in any way, my home is full of vintage knicks and goodies from thrift stores. I have a lot of “things”…. Not hoarder style but I like and feel good with stuff. It feels safe. I grew up in a house w stuff but we were poor so maybe my aversion to minimalist is a direct reflection of having to go without as a kid. Bc, if I’m honest, minimalist makes me feel uncomfortable…. Like something is missing and what is missing is important. Not to go too deep here but the idea of a minimalist home or art makes me a bit anxious. It’s not enough.
I can appreciate the idea of being minimalist in my art I suppose in theory. Clean lines and simple palettes sound refreshing and are uncomplicated, like spring. But, it’s ALL out in the open. No room for error, no hiding mistakes and no do-overs. Scary stuff haha!
I really enjoyed this…. You made me think. Thanks for the mini therapy session…lol! Hope you are feeling better. Til next time…take care 💕

Great video for me who is new to the Junk Journal world. I am trying to figure out my style ??? I haven’t come to a definite conclusion yet but am hopeful that will come with experience. Also have some problem with knowing when a page is finished. I like the minimalist concept and look so will definitely be trying it. Sorry you have been ill. Hope you continue to heal each day. I do so enjoy your calm enthusiasm. 😅

Thank you for such a profound exploration of minimalist junk journaling. I'm currently in a search for my own style and I feel like minimalism is something that I'm drawn to.
And thank you for great examples. I think I'm going to screenshot most of them and try to replicate to explore this style by practice.

Maximalist who appreciates all you minimalists (more junk for me!! just kidding). Ironically enough, because I inherited my parents house full of stuff, I STILL need to purge, to actually be able to do maximalism well. hehehe. Though, as you flipped through artists, the one that made (that always makes) my heart sing was Paul Klee. So perhaps I'm an Expressionist?
Regardless, I love listening to you talk about styles, aesthetics, etc.

This is so interesting! Most videos I have watched since I started with junk journaling a year ago about creating and journaling in junk journals have featured a lot of layers and lace etc. I like to build my jjs with self dyed paper because I like the feel of the texture. I think my style of decorating and journaling is a little bit reduced and muted but not actually minimalist. I don´t know. Some aspects of minimalism seem to fit, some don´t. I am still in the process to find out what I like. But that is the way art works, I think. Developing and trying new things! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts!

Nice to have you back! I feel like sometimes I enjoy both. And maybe even in the same journal, because my eyes need to rest. It becomes visually noisy. A page that is full of clutter, and continues page after page, I find myself missing some of the details. Details that could be an essential part of what is being said. I really enjoy listening to the message(s) of your videos. Thanks! ❤ Tamara
