Mopar Owner/Enthusiast here, awesome footage of a great event! Pure Stock Class is my favorite because it is what the cars are supposed to be in performance, looks, and sound, not modded to the bone...lol Muscle Car Culture will never die! My fav. is the 68 Roadrunner 6 Barrel A12, or Super B - 440 - 6 Pack, and Challengers of course.
Very nice video all around ! The walkabout around the grounds was really cool.... Really appreciate the painstaking time in making the video and it's further editing before its post. 🙏🎉☺️
Great job on the video, squeezed in as many races as possible with minimul jibberish.👍 The best indication of power is mph. Bias ply repro red lines do not lend themselves to ET.
Cool video and nice look back at how there was a time when you were actually fast in a car that could do anything bellow a 14.0 sec 1/4 mile. We don't see any of the really crazy stuff from back in the day in this video. A couple of mid to high 12s were as fast as it got in this video. Standard issue 426 Hemi cars and 427 or 454 Chevy's were at their best 13.0 cars and 12s if you could find the traction. For a Chevy guy like me this helps explain to anyone to anyone too young to remember why it is that cars such as 67-69 L88 Corvettes or those ZL-1 69 Camaros are the stuff of ICON status. (yes, I know Ford and Chrysler also had a couple of really rare factory issue racers as well) but I'm a Chevy guy and the car I clearly remember was a guy from Hamilton Ontario in the mid 1970s who would come out to Cayuga in a 1969 Corvette with an L88 ripping off mid 11s with no more than skinny slicks and uncorked headers. Seeing him driving that car down the quarter mile with license plates on the car was CRAZY in that time period. His competition in that class all came in on trailers. For longest time as we entered the 1980s and the emissions era showed no sign of ever allowing real power to return to previous highs I really thought I'd never see that again. Today quite a few cars can match or beat those times that old Corvette ran but as we've re-entered a period when the title of "fastest available street car" in showrooms changes with each passing year or two it occurs to me that it's not actual speed that made ICONS of the fastest cars from the late 1960s and very early 1970s.......it's length of time it took before we'd see their performance surpassed by the latest round of "fast" street cars available for purchase that gives that extra "bump" into the status that makes them so desirable today.
I got 5 minutes into the racing and quit watching. No way that 50's-era Chevy ran 14.9 in stock form, if it really was stock, then the decade or so after it was made was a waste of engineering time as many a fabled performance car from the 60's and early 70's ran 14.9 or slower. And there's no way a stock 1979-1981 Trans Am could run a 14.2. One just needs to do some research (like search on: car life road test summary) to see what these glorious cars really ran when tested by magazines.
I've been to about 10 of these at this track. Including this yr 2024. AIN'T no way in Hezz they were "stock". Nearly all had a healthy lope in their idle. Cool of coarse... but "stock".... no
A 1974 SD-455 Formula or TA was at best a low-14 and at worst a high-14 second car. Many magazines the TA back then and that's what they ran. It had 290 SAE net horsepower. Consider cars like the 2024 Mustang 486 HP, Camaro SS 455 HP or Challenger 392 with 485 HP are hard pressed to run low 12 with their 8- or 10-speed automatics, modern suspensions and traction control. No way was this SD Formula stock.
At 41:25 I thought he was gonna shift 2nd to 3rd before pushing in the clutch...his launch was perty good considering the 5 inch wide repro bias ply tires.
I owned a 340 Duster with some goodies added to it . Intake , carb cam and Headers , 4 speed with 410 gears . Genuine low 12 street car , took it back and forth to work everday Shamed snd embarrased 90% of big blocks thinking whats a little 340 gonna do ? 😅
@@ludedude5228 The 1/4 mile races I have seen with a 340 against a big block was the 340 winning because the 396 couldn't hook up. Where are the races shown between a 327 or a 350 against the 340.? I can't find any..
There were a fair number of people in the stands on the left side of the track. The stands on the right side are a long walk across the burn-outbox / staging lanes, so nobody does it.
IMO you can't use presentism to judge a 50+ yr old car. In the day they MOVED and looked cool. Shoot fire.... today I'd rather tool around in one of those than a 1/2 bubble shaped but quicker car of 2024
Wow,ALL the cobra jets not tuned properly and launched so badly,a blind senile retired social worker from New Jersey could best. Fucking amazing. The guy in the white cougar 390 should just ship that kitty to me. As the blue cougar too. The cobra jet coupe. 69 mustang really? He drags the car yearly, has the means to at least rebuild and blueprint it. 😢😢😢😢😢
This is how they are supposed to be. All original and beautiful.
Yah, right. Only if you take everything apart and see for sure.

Nice job. Great walkaround video.I enjoyed the Buick Alley as well.
Thanks!
Every year, it’s like the Buicks multiply! What a sight!
I miss my 71 455. I have had a handful of chevys and mopars. The Buick was my favorite factory power ride.
Love to see the Buick's.
Some great, tight match-ups here. Super impressed with the MPH out of the Hornet! Thanks for the footage!
Classic musclecars are STILL kings of the road. 👍🏁🇺🇲
Thanks for sharing. I love these types of events. I hope to make it to this event sometime.
My pleasure! This is one of our favorite events of the year for sure!
Thank you for covering this event. I have to make it up there next year. Your video is the next best thing.
My pleasure! Thank you!
Good times! My first time there and we hope to come back next year. Thanks for the vid!
Heck yes! Exactly what I said after my first time!
Thanks for the video upload!
ran my brother's w31 cutlass in this 20 yrs ago when it was at norwalk.14.28@100 with no 1st gear
My W31 goes 14.1 at 99.1 :-)
Always the best video shot by a true fan. 😁😁

Thank you so much for the kind words!
It’s funny how 14 second vintage muscle cars feel more dramatic and faster than 12 second modern muscle cars.
A 13.xx car by any measure ain't slow. And doubly so for a 3 speed auto
Thank you for the vids!
I was in the stands just left of you and tooks many pics and vids myself. I'll post them soon.
Shalom
Great cars all of them. I especially liked the magnum 400 tempest.
As cool as it is rare!
Great footage! Thanks
Beautiful muscle cars
Apollo white GSX ❤❤❤❤
A little slice of Heaven on Earth there ;)

My bf 72 charger at 11:34 and his buddy's Hemi Satellite. Love these races every year.
Love RaM AirII birds❤❤
We love the 57 Chevy, great guy who owns and drives it.

Nice video > A Favorite The Red 1974 SD-455 Formula ran a low 12 ( 12.15 @ 113 mph ) not as Quick as last year 2023 when he ran a 11.98 But Close 🏁🏆😎
That car is wicked for sure!

American muscle
What kinda gear is that 57 or the duece nova running??? Holy smoke I didn't know those cars could do 12s!!!
57 outside of engine looked stock. Had 4 speed.
I'm thinking the internals were maybe a bit massagad 😉
Do you have to run stock rims??? I get stock tire sizes. Gonna go to 1 of these next year. This is true stock racing!!!
Yes

There's nothing more precious then a preteen daddy's girl, I miss those days!😢 soak it in, time is fleeting!
Can someone tell me the name of that song as the beginning?
that red 57 if its a 283 it run good
Well, for a second there it looked like a little 350 chev spanked a BB GT Sport?! 🤣
How do they determine who races who?
Pair you up with simalar cars after you do time tials
Alot of "stock" cars running 12s. Idk about all that.
? You know it. Sh!t unleaded gas, but better tires. That's it.
Just read thru the rules on the PSMCDR site. Very strict including a tear down rule.
Pure stock most ambiguous statement I ever heard.
Hey man I have a question if you can give me a call
??
Such a bummer when the raw audio is dubbed over with stupid music.
It’s only on the walking the pits part, as it sounds like garbage with so many clips and cuts, you hear all sorts of weird stuff.
The racetrack has speakers everywhere. No escaping the music during the runs
23.39 that car is not stock looks like he missed second and dumped the clutch to make it up. There is boderline daylight under those tires
WTH? I could have sworn I seen rules that stated "No Convertibles" ! Maybe I'm confusing it for F.A.S.T.
Convertibles at Pure Stock just can’t run faster than, something… I can’t remember what.
No "stocks" 😅
I was there.
I had a 69 Eliminator with a 302 and a 4.30 rear. Never lost a race.
And that supposed Chevy 50's beat the Cougar ? BS.
Not a ford amongst them, I’ll pass
Apparently didn’t watch them for the video. There’s finally a bunch of forwards running in there now that’s equality
Sweet cars...but not fast by today standards
Probably why there's six people in the stands. Sad to see the low attendance but fun to watch. Ty
There were a fair number of people in the stands on the left side of the track. The stands on the right side are a long walk across the burn-outbox / staging lanes, so nobody does it.
The point isn’t to have the lowest ET, the point is to race cars that are (mostly) as delivered.

The couguar IMO was pure stock. You could tell the stall was low as it took a good 200ft for it to come into power
Nice video but the music is really bad.
