- Опубліковано 6 лют 2025
- The 2024 Duct Tape Drags is Sept. 27-28 at Tucson Dragway, where you’ll see the Battle of the Beaters drag race for cars worth less than $5,000, plus the Vice Grip Garage Burnout pit judged by Derek Bieri. There’s also a cruise from LA, open grudge racing, and our traditional fire-pit nights. Meet Derek, Lucky Costa, Tony Angelo, Dulcich, Bogi, and me, David Freiburger. Register here: tickets.thefoa...
Watch this video from the 2023 event to get the idea of just how fun it is at the Duct Tape Drags. It’s really an event like none other with a completely laid back atmosphere. Don’t miss the Battle of the Beaters dirt-cheap drag race in the second half of this episode. You’ll also see Lucky, Dulcich, Birdsong, Dave Chappelle, Pole Barn Garage, and Roadkill crew guys Alex, Wiley, and Mason.
Thanks for watching, and I hope to see you in Tucson!-D/F

Such an amazing event full of awesome folks. Thanks for including VGG, and thanks to everyone who supports events like this. Get out and enjoy them!
Thanks for being there! See you in a few weeks.
Good luck, this year!
We love you, Derek and family, and Dave too!
Got as far as you introducing that model away in the background I see that old AMC I hope Derek didn’t get behind the wheel of that thing he has a tendency of breaking it. I will continue watching now.
@TheDavidFreiburger you, Derek and Tony Angelo should make a Top Gear esque show where you just do road trips, racing challenges and explore old school Americana! Thank you for carrying the torch and making awesome automotive content.
Hey i know that poor slob at 17:46!
Thanks for including us in this, DTD is a one of a kind special event that everyone should experience at least once
Wouldnt it be cool to see a colab with David and Dalton rescuing a old pontiac.
You are an excellent ambassador for the Zip Tie group, you nailed it with your dissertation!
How did that guy in the MOPAR with all the missing parts, pass tech?!!
Still sucks you got rejected on tech, hopefully they don't harass you this year!
Bonus PBG, awesome!
"DONT GET IT RIGHT JUST GET IT RUNNING " best quote ever !!! thank you for all the inspiration bro!!!!!
These guys live by that credo! Great outlook for motorheads.
Yep... I always try TRY to tell myself that every time in the garage.
I like the quote that guy said in this vid... Churchills "perfection is the enemy to progress" its why so many projects start and die in the garage ❤
David Freiburger shows his genius once again. This is the show I've been waiting for. Making UA-cam great again.
Thanks!
@@TheDavidFreiburger Don't leave us hangin, fuck the networks, fuck the CORPORATIONS.
Cook the show on your own.
bring it to central cal
If David and Steve made a channel together and just focused on that, they'd kill it on UA-cam
I agree, they are great together!
This is that..
I sometimes struggle to see the appeal of the Steve.
He’s got moments but trys too hard I think
@colemiller8685 I like Steve a lot. I grew up with a bunch of goofy Mopar guys, plus I like two people working on a project more than one. It brings a bit more humor and a more natural feel than just someone talking to a camera
He makes me think he is a serial killer sometimes@colemiller8685
Found this on phone and just switched to big screen yahoooooooo cant wait to watch over and over!!! Best thing on youtube !!!
Thank you for the views and praise!
Get after it Dave!
@TheDavidFreiburger we need a duct tape drags on the east coast!
How about one at the Freedom Factory!?!?
This is exactly what we all want to see! This is greatly appreciated, given that it seems like Motortrend has stopped announcing new episodes and hasn't uploaded any of the good stuff! Love this!
Motortrend is gone friend. Discovery closed them down in March.
there was a new Roadkill yesterday with Stubby Bob
@@nwvfd22 Motortrend on demand is gone, but it's still there on the Discovery app. Not gonna lie, I don't think it's going to survive, think Freiburger knows it too, hence this incredibly well produced youtube show.
When they fired me as a customer I literally couldn't give them my business, they didn't want customers outside the US
@@7eis Yeah that was just the worst, being locked out of something you've been a huge fan of for years damnit.
The Hole-y Goat is an instant classic. That's how I discovered PBG. What a hilarious mess. One of my fav's.
Solid Huell Howser reference!! Lucky Costa
Freiburger, you gotta link up with Polebarn Garage and Junkyard Digs at some point. They’re making some EXCELLENT Roadkill-inspired content and have the hosting chops to boot (I mean Dalton proved it in his segment in this video).
I think a Junkyard revive and drive challenge with you and Finnegan, Derek and Tony, and Dalton and Kevin would be awesome.
i absolutely back this up!! those two channels LOVE seeking out crap that has sat around for decades and then seeing if it'll get somewhere. i love Junkyard doing a bus or camper every year to hit the nascar weekend in KC!
Fantastic idea! A $3000 beater build off would also be cool!
That would be awesome!
lol no. fk those brake cleaner hacks.
Pole, I wouldn't let you on any strip either with that junk.
@@xtr3m3fLx Someone sounds salty
What a channel DF. If I hadn’t been reading your stuff for 30 years-the channel would explain your whole ethos. Great camera work too.
That’s cool of you, thanks
F7
Truly one of the best events of the entire year. Drove across the Midwest in my beater to get there and had a blast with everyone including @polebarngarage , Chris Birdsong , Irish Outlaw Garage, Dirthead Dave and so many more..
Thanks for that effort!
Freiburger is backkkk!!!! So happy to see some new content coming out . Ever since the move to discovery it seems like there’s nothing coming out anymore!
Now THIS is quality car-guy content! Love it!!!
Thanks!
Tucson locals are some of the best people in this country. Thank you for always making me feel like a welcomed guest!
There's a GREAT channel located in Tucson called Thee Travis B. He and his cool dad Rick resurrect dormant cars and trucks from the 40s thru 80s, especially 56-62 GM cars and 47-55 trucks.
Yes we are welcoming.
@@AsswipeGaragethanks man 🤙🏻
David Freiburger and Derek Bieri are my two favorite dudes in the automotive world. Well I guess Dulcich makes it three lol. Seems like a new chapter is being opened with this channel and it’s pretty damn good.
Happy to hear it
Also my favorite 3!
This really has a "Friday night at the small town drag strip" feel to it. It's not a question of who's the best in the world, it's just who's best right here, right now.
I plan my year around this event every year for the past several years. It's a can't miss event.
As the mastermind behind the greatest events of the last 20 years, I'm glad to see this on Freiburger's own channel.
Absolutely love to see all my UA-cam heroes in one video!!
Dalton's hilarious! 🤣
David, I am so glad to see you on UA-cam often. You were my favorite writer back in the days of Car Craft. MT decided to kill all but a handful of print magazines. I know that magazine circulation was shrinking but I thought that Car Craft was the best overall.
I used to subscribe to HR, CC, PHR, Diesel Power, 4WOR, FOUR WHEELER, Mopar Muscle, Mopar Action, C and D, R&T, Motorcyclist, RAT ROD, Ol Skool Rodz, and others! I got hundreds of magazines I don't want anymore, but can't bear to throw away!
Same here, have em all in bins in my basement. Also loved short lived mag Hot Rod Deluxe 👍
I am constantly amazed with the talents of Mr Frieburger, his Roadkill series are beyond reproach!
Pole barn garage is awesome!
digging the spotlights you gave on many of these cars and owners . your brief words could be the coolest car highlight of most of these folks lives.
Welcome back to you tube ! Really great to look forward to your episodes! Thanks Dave
Many thanks!
If this is the type of content we are going to get every week I’m going to go ahead and speak for everyone here and say “PLEASE keep this content coming!!!!” So much love
This is not an exactly what you’ll get every week. It’ll be a mix of road trips, projects, history, and so on. Thank you for watching.
@@TheDavidFreiburger I’m here for ALL of it!
THE DULCICH = THE VIEWS!!!
YES
Dalton is awesome! Polebarn garage!
I also love James from Low Buck Garage, the Jeep "funny car" guy.
Very nice editing. Glad DF Finally has a channel.
Glad you were into it
Long time fan of the whole motortrend/youtube families, this is quickly becoming my favorite channel! Thank you for your endless hours of entertainment and knowledge!
Been readin Freiburger's works in mags on the toilet forever..... When his CarCraft Crew sawzalled a junkyard Bonneville? down to it's bones for better drag times I was hooked.. And to see Derek Bieri become a legend since following him with the phone taped to his garage door..well. It doesn't get much more fun in the rod on a budget world!. Thanx Bro's!!!
That was a Buick Electra 225. Thanks!
3:37 God I love that Satellite. Looks so cool. just love the design. Same with your '71 Roadrunner..
That Picacho Peak hike is incredible and I’d recommend it to anyone. Really really good three or so hours up, and the views are awesome
Freiburger Thursdays!
The content in 4K is amazing 😊
Great, thanks
These past two episodes have been so much better than the recent roadkill episodes. I’m really liking this channel.
I'm a big production nerd, and the color grading on this is just immaculate.
This was a sick event! you can see my cousin Jorge's Maverick in the right lane at 29:21. Hell yeah! also my favorite part of the event was during the 5k judging, Dulcich and Freiburger said no burnouts or peel outs or you'd be DQ'd and some dude did but blew out his u joint or dif yoke haha what a chump.
Counting down the days, I can't wait to beat on the little S10 again. Definitely one of the best events around for us cheap guys.
I wish yall would have this on the East Coast. All these UA-camrs and MT channel guys are what inspired me to build my truck. Im in North Florida and can't afford to drive to CA for it. Hopefully, one comes up near me, and i can fix my leaking, garage built 302 so it doesn't leak, as much.
Your just technically startin your channel and already your Production quality is awesome kind of expected seeing your background lol
Thanks!
Im so happy that you guys are getting the youtube thing going for all of us europe guys. Also gotta say that quality of the camera work and editing is on a another level! Super clean, well shot...I love it. So whoever shoot and edit, thank you👌🏼
Stick with it freiburger, I don't care what your episode is about but I guarantee I'll be watching it. Cant wait to watch weekly freiburger videos on lunch!!!!!
Very cool of you, thanks
Watching while I'm supposed to be working RN myself 🤣
Awesome coverage video, looking forward to more on your channel. Love the more personalized content. Keep up the great work and sharing knowledge.
I don't speak for everyone but this is the content I want to see. Great job.
Thank you!
So awesome! This reminds me of when I was 18. No internet, no social media. A bunch of Car Craft, Hot Rod and other magazines helping us put our cars together. Lets not forget the day long junkyard trips resulting in lucky camel hump head finds and "all nighter" engine swaps. Thanks David Freiburger and the rest of the guys for keeping the torch lit!
I lived it too!
Yes! I was 18 in 1974 and that was our lives. Cars, beer, and cruising for chicks!
Feels like im watching a roadkill quality production keep up the great work freiburger
You put on a great show.. Great video.
Too.. That was fantastic.. A lot of nice cars.. Again nice show..👍🙏🙂
Thanks 👍
"slap happy build" is the best comment ever by the Gremi guy! I love it!
I was so sad when roadkill went off youtube to streaming and tv (didnt have access to it) and now seeing you and Mike back on youtube makes me so happy! Ive been watching you both since very very early Roadkill and loved it!
Fuck yeah. Love you David Frieburger. 😂
Damn i knew i misspelled it.😂
@@CloudHindlenDon’t care, just keep watching. Haha. Thanks
This is what it's all about! You and your crew did a great job. Looking forward to watching more videos in the future!
@TheDavidFreiburger we need one of these events on the east coast.
What a great idea! 🤔
Loved it! Duct Tape Drags! Very cool!
Thank you, David!
Thanks so much for posting! My Thursday got so much better!
Every year I have this to look forward to! Thank you for putting this event on year after year I always get tickled when it is made official that it will be happening again. I'll be coming with a turbo Celica y'all be ready to see some wicked 15 second passes!!
See ya next month
please do something with Steve Magnante
Thanks D/F for putting this on your channel!
Awesome! A new episode of DF. Loving the content!
HolySheepShit Batman! The production quality on the David Frieburger channel surpasses network nonsense. Freakin' Stellar Job!! Who needs that other network anyway?
Great coverage..for those of us who can't get there.
Being an owner of a 72 Mercury Comet, I was really excited seeing the Maverick. I would love to see Freiburger and KJ (now that I know he loves Mavericks) roadtrip a Maverick together. Love the channel!!!
Love Dalton's Holy Goat.
This event is literally my highlight of the year. I look forward to it every year. The last one my friend and I had a million problems. Missed a concert we were going to see the night before the cruise. Slept in the parking lot of the nhra museum on the grass to kill time before sunrise. Pretty sure my friend got co poisoning from the exhaust leak. My flip flops melted to the floorboard of his vw truck. And I still wouldn't trade the memories for financial stability and a normal life. Thanks for putting this on
Perfect!!! See you Sept 27-28
Thank you for coming back.
🤘Gasoline forever 🤘⛽
David I am very impressed with your Duct Tape Drags event and the excellent entries that actually made it down to your races. You looked extremely happy for the entire filming and your guys looked like they had everyone else there having a gasoline fueled great time. The crew blew this puppy out of the park and I will try to make it in person to one for my bucket list. Because Roadkill!
David is like google for car guys, so much knowledge
Kudos to your camera guy on this one David. He gave it a great style
Chris Read and Ryan Crosley
Great work Chris and Ryan, it has a close to cinematic feel.
Good idea dropping on Thursday! Fridays are VGG and Stay Tuned. Makes Thursdays better now 😅
My thoughts exactly.
Its great to see so many old and classic (some not so much lol) cars being appreciated and used more than ever.
The videography is so good.
So cool seeing Tucson drags. My car lived in Tucson for 43 years before coming to Australia.
Little old lady had it from new. So cool 😎
I know Dalton's GTO is definitely a pile, but isn't that the exact car for this kind of event?
Hi David, I used to race at the old track in the 70s. It was a decent track, pro tree and all. We had A blast! Have fun Dude!
3:15 ... He immediately merged onto the interstate next to a Swift truck. I'm not sure that David knew the danger that he put himself in at that moment. Lol
I came here to say this!
"I can't not make it. I have to be there." *imediately merges next to a swift truck*
Could of been worse being in the parking lot that someone wanted to Swift-ly park in/on/at, etc....
This is quickly becoming my favorite channel!!! Thank you DF for getting me into cars at the age of 13. I’ve made a comfortable career out of it! You’ll always be one of the greats to me.
Wow, that’s amazing! Thank you for telling me.
That red 1970 cougar was beautiful
It's really nice to see all of the old and new RoadKill crew branching off on there own YT channels. I've missed all my good and only car stuff I watch since MT moved to Dis+. Thx all.
The dude with the white metro! Love those little turd boxes
Thanks! That was not the original planned car, but it was the car I had that would make it. Drove it from Sacramento to Tucson and back. I was caravaning with V8s there and back, flat footed the entire time, and still got 34 mpg!
I hope to get out there some day, just gotta keep getting after it. The event looks like a lot of fun, loved how all the cars and owners were introduced.
Freiburger forever 🤘
Haha. Thank you
@@TheDavidFreiburger thanks for everything, man!
Year in & year out you have kept me informed & updated on the heart of hot roding. That model A is a physics experiment.
You should bring back the ranchero. I love that thing
The Raunchero went the auto museum in the old Joliet prison from Blues Brothers.
@@SILVERHORSEGARAGEmaybe it’s that falcon ranchero that he, dulcich and Sam dug out
@@hemihusky8172 I think it was sold after the make over
Well done looked like an awsome event. Thanks for sharing 👍
I remember dalton at PBG was pretty bummed about not being able to race the holy goat i mean i wouldve been steamed too especially considering what birdsong was allowed to run Nothing against birdsong the guy is cool but his car shouldnt have been allowed to run
Yeah, and given he had driven the goat across country, I'm pretty sure it would have been able to get down the Quarter mile a few times without issue. Hope this year since he's bigger they sway the rules a bit more.
@@NEEDbacon well he said he is going to be there but didnt say if he was racing or not or even going to attempt to race
@@GeorgiaRidgerunner Actually he is, he's building up Buick using stuff from one of his many wrecked GOATs.
Don't get it perfect, just get it running. It warms my heart every time I hear that because many of us have been doing that for decades, and we were always the black sheep at the grudge night and cruise in. Finally people are starting to wake up to the fun of having a car that's built for FUN instead of one that's built to be "nice"
Keep up the Lord's Work.
Absolutely love it, the way hot rodding should be. No need for a 50k build to have fun.
Best day at work for me ever. Awesome folks all around.
Super cool my buddy Kevin and I were there last year it was one of the best times I’ve ever had there’s a clip of you singing the spoiler on my car thank you again for taking the time super cool
Thanks for being there
Amazing content , nice to see the average guy racing , not just the rich guys. This is racing in its purist form 😎
So much fun! Very cool event. Thanks for sharing.
