I mean, we do? F-35B are plenty capable of the requirements of modern jets. And there is potential for a Catapult upgrade in future
@admiralmallard7500 I totally get that the QE class outfitted for the F35b were a financial compromise but I can't help feeling that they are just overgrown Invincibles. The F35c has better payload and range plus the E2 Hawkeye is a tried and tested excellent early warning plane but with no CATOBAR we have missed an opportunity to sail with the big boys especially with China now having a full sized CATOBAR carrier. I don't think any future UK government will commit to spending the huge sums on converting QE and POW to CATOBAR to be honest....
@@richardprice7763 EMAL catapults are yet to reach a state where they can replace the Steam catapult, and obvs we cant operate steam. For the meantime weve chosen a pretty solid system which were familiar with.
