    Evan, you did such a great job cleaning my boots! I still cannot believe how well they turned out. My fiance and I watched the video together and we absolutely loved it! My jaw dropped when you said it took a total of 3 hours for both boots. We had a huge laugh when you said I cut a lot of grass, because it's very true. I was very surprised to see that you used high grit sandpaper to repair the toe box as well!
    Again, I cannot thank you enough for reviving my treasured boots. You put a lot of hard work into cleaning them, and you should be very proud of yourself and your work. I will definitely take better care of my boots and clean them more frequently from here on out!

      Ryan! I'm so glad you got your boots back safely, enjoyed the video, and had some laughs. I may have spent 3 hours on the boots, but you'll get more than 3 years out of them, so it was worth it. There's so much you can do to leather, and this is just one way to do it. Happy to hear that you'll take better care of what you own. Remember, you can clean and care for more than just leather boots! Sneakers, dress shoes, bags, belts, wallets, etc.
      If you've ever heard of it, the concept of price per use. If you spend $100 on a pair of boots and wear them once, your price per use is $100. If you use them 100 times, your price per use is $1, 1000 times, $0.10, etc. All that to say, invest in high quality and durability over flashy looks that don't last.
      I'm sure over 15 years you've definitely got more than your money's worth. This concept I wish I had learned a long time ago. I hope it serves you and your fiancé both in your new life together!

    Ryan thanks for recommending Evan for your Red Wing boot cleaning. Bob is a painter and gets a new pair every couple years. After watching Evans video I might need to see what he can do on one of Bob's old pair of boots. Looks like Evan does an amazing job!

    Redwing 606 are absolutely some of the best boots money can buy.

      After cleaning these, I can't agree more! These were an honor to restore. Should I assume you own a pair as well?

    I own a pair of redwing boots 6" moc black 8849. Best boots I have ever owned. I always used to buy wolverines, great boots by the way. But redwings are just an investment of a lifetime.

      Nice! It's crazy how well-made Red Wing boots are to this day in comparison to other brands. Did you know that you can get annual free boot cleanings at your local red wing store? Check it out! Thanks so much for watching.

      Haha! That would be fun. I'm more of the mindset to teach others how to do it themselves, though, I wouldn't chance fixing your couch on your first experiment. Though, if you haven't or do not condition your couch, this is probably the single most important thing to do for your leather. I'm sure there's better videos out there than my shoe cleaning videos. Lol. I can't wait to get my own leather couch! Thanks so much for watching.

    I wear these same boots. I clean them once a month and apply redwing boot oil to them. The issue i have is the color wears off the toe. Not sure if they make a dye I can apply to the toe to restore back to original color.

      The 606s are great! Considering getting a pair myself, the only problem is that I don't do enough heavy work to justify buying them right now. The toe area is definitely at the forefront of the battle zone, haha. It can definitely get the brunt of the wear. There are dyes from Fiebing's or Angelus that can do a decent job, but it may not be what you like. I'd suggest reaching out to Red Wing directly with an inquiry. Also, you may know this already, but you can get free annual cleanings at any Red Wing store for your boots. They may be able to do something for free for that toe discoloration. Let me know what happens!

      @@evumies i didn't not know that. If I was you I would buy a pair of 606's even if you don't need them for hard work, they are really stylish and very comfortable. I wear mine everywhere and when I need to look a little formal. I clean them up and put them on. Thanks for your response.

    Won't the sanding weaken the leather?

    • @evumies
      @evumies  2 місяці тому +2

      Hey there, friend! Yes it will. There's only so much you can do to restore the look of the boots. The boots were already torn up. This is why I used a very fine grit sand paper so that I don't take off too much of the leather fiber. If I left the boots the way they were without sanding, it could have potentially made them create leather flaps that would peel up and damage further. So you have to weigh the pros and cons. Definitely don't do this on the regular!

      @evumies I'm going to try the E6000 glue for the heal on a set of dress shoes. I think the heel is leather board or cork. I caught it on the bottom of a door and left a split in it.

    I have a pair of nubuck blundstone 1308 the distressed brown and it’s hard to clean them because of the material..blundstone has a cream but on the back it states not for nubuck or sued so I sent it back yet they say it’s ok to use so it’s confusing and I can’t seem to find a good cleaner conditioner.. lm considering trying the MGK brand that you are using seems to works very well would you recommend or would you use that cream on blundstone nubuck even tho blundstone recommends you DO NOT use any creams on there boots ???? I’m going to buy that MGK cleaning kit regardless any of your opinions would greatly be appreciated thank you and great content…

    • @evumies
      @evumies  2 місяці тому

      Hey John! Thanks so much for watching and great questions. Here's the thing. Nubuck and suede leather are beautiful textured leather. However, they still need to be hydrated. If you want to use some type of balm or cream like I use, it's mainly used for smooth leathers because it can "ruin" the look and feel of the leather. It does not ruin the leather itself, just the texture. This is why you see some companies that manufacture "greasy" suede for outdoor use like snow boots and such. If you want to condition or hydrate your leather while maintaining your suede or nubuck texture, I would suggest using an spray on mink oil to maintain the soft texture while hydrating your leather. This would be your easiest solution. Try Angelus Mink Oil Spray or check out my kit.co/evuimes for the links. If you don't mind changing the texture of your nubuck, I'd highly suggest using the ShoeMGK cream or another brand you're comfortable with. Again, brands ONLY say to NOT use those creams because it ruins the texture, not the leather. Thanks so much for watching and checking out the channel. Please let me know if you have any other questions!

      Thanks so much for your opinion. Unfortunately, the way I craft my videos is to share in detail each step of my process. I condensed more than 2 hours of real live cleaning into 22 minutes, so hopefully you can understand. I do have shorts on my channel if you're looking for some quick cleans. I appreciate your comments and thank you for watching.
