A man was shot and killed while a 4-year-old was left injured following a shooting in Diego Martin

A man was shot and killed, while a 4-year-old boy was injured following a shooting in Diego Martin on Tuesday 28th November, 2023.
• The deceased was identified as 29-year-old Shaquille Williams of Gilkes Street Extension, Four Roads, Diego Martin and Dan Kelly, Laventille.
• Around 6:40pm, Williams was reportedly liming with friends and family on Gilkes Street, La Puerta, when he was confronted by two men who were armed with guns.
• The suspects then began shooting, hitting Williams in his left thigh and hip.
• Williams ran onto Louis Street to evade the suspects when they cornered him and shot him multiple times again.
• The gunmen subsequently ran back in the direction they came from when they were confronted by a policeman who shot at them; however, they managed to escape unharmed.
• During the hail of bullets, a 4-year-old boy was struck by a stray bullet and was taken to St James Hospital and later transferred to another health facility for additional treatment.
• Crime scene investigators also visited the scene and recovered seven spent 9 mm shells, a pair of gloves and a black ski mask.
• Police from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region I are continuing enquiries.
This was the third murder that took place in the Diego Martin area for the month and the second for the week thus far.
Just on Monday 27th November, 2023, 20-year-old Jerod Tiwari of #3 Blue Basin Avenue, Diego Martin died after he was stabbed during a dispute at North Post Road, Diego Martin.
Also on Saturday 11th November, 2023, 22-year-old Shondell Stewart of Upper Waterhole Road in Cocorite was shot and killed while driving in Raphael Trace, Diego Martin.
