Ikr? I used to watch my Dad play it when I was quite little and I remember when he defeated Diablo, I had to run out of the room because the cutscene that came after that was too scary for me xD
+Oliver Draathelvete I remember one part of this game, and there was a guy in this cell and i don't know if i had to free him or get information outta him. Honestly i had no idea what i was doing, i was young lol
This game has a special place in my heart. Me and my dad beat this game together when I was a little kid. He controlled the character and combat, while I was the one in charge of healing. I kept my fingers glued to those number keys, ready to pop those potions. I remember my mom telling my dad to throw out the game cuz she said it was evil, then me and my dad went back to the store and bought another copy, he made me promise not to tell my mom lol. I remember how my dad would minimize the game whenever my mom walked by the computer lol. Best memory I have of me and my dad for sure.
When I once started playing World of Warcraft, it was quite disappointing compared to this good old game. Composers may be the same, but there's so much less passion in their work now. I will remember the moment when you enter the dungeon for the rest of my life. I had many dreams about this. Not much of games out there can reach this level of emotion. Like famous Arcanum, rare Kult Heretic Kingdoms - for sure, and there are a few others. First game of these was The Immortal, and it's... so much different too. Playing old games is like reading books compared to watching films. Imagination can take you anywhere...
The music and atmosphere makes everything so nervous and scary. Even the demons hit hard and you could almost feel the pain when the warrior shouted out in pain...
What up i was just on your website lol, trying to obtain an iso or something for fall out 1 but cant because seemingly the contents are dangerous according to chrome
+MINECRAFT TRAVELLERS Diablo 3 just doesn't seem as dark as 1 or 2 though it's really killing it for me. The novelty of WOW is bleeding over into blizzards other games way too much.
@Sezirca Yes, when you install the game and load it up, there is a Multiplayer section. You can connect to battle.net from there and play with others. It shares the Battle.net with Warcraft 2, Starcraft I, Warcraft III, and Diablo II.
uh no way lol are you high? I guess I can kinda understand the less pixelated part since the 6's don't look like 5's (lol) but overall the graphics in d2 are miles ahead of this. I was actually going to comment the exact opposite, that I thought d2's graphics look quite bad today but a quick look at d1 shows just how big a leap ahead it was.
@@MaxLohMusic More like two steps ahead and one back you know...D1 monsters had much better and realistic graphics and animations, everything in D2 was dumbed down in that regard... spell effects were also better...items a draw...the only area where D2 was ahead was environment graphics
Following on the previous comment, you go down into the Labrynth, the source of the demons attacking the town. As you work your way down, you do various quests (If your a single player char). You find out as you work your way down to the depths of hell itself that Lazarus was corrupted by Diablo. Hundreds of years before Diablo, one of the three prime evils was contained within a soulstone by a mage order known as the Horadrim. He corrupted the soulstone.
When i was little, i played this game and it gave me nightmares lol! And the most funny part was, that when we got to the butcher, me and my friend screamed and yelled "ITS DIABLO!!!!" we ran away from the TV, only to find out that it... well wasnt Diablo at all :D Brings back great memories lol
all those memories from my pass x) I remember when me and my friend who have this game. first time we played it we thought that the health (the read meter) was a counter of how many enemies / devil there was left so we thought that we was supose to empty it and the mana meter was about how much frendly well we didnt know any thing about the game to later xD so funny memories ///// sorry if I speld wrong Iam terible in English
I have found that unique monsters drop any and all weapons during each playthrough. Just save and load or use save states and move the monster about the map. Certain spots will give you different items. I have manipulated the spawns to where I got anything I wanted. You just gotta be patient and try a spot about 20 times before moving. I have gotten 3 or 4 unique stuff drop in one spot once.
awesome game, after a lot of fail with the warrior I finally beat it with the sorceror, which is now my favourite class. I'm playing it at the moment, lvl 19 sorceror. Quite strong, but later enemies tend to be immune against flame-based spells (which are by far the strongest) and therefor it is tricky, especially because I don't have the Mana Shield spell by now, which is essential for the later game..
This game brings back memories. I remember seeing my dad play it and I was scared of seeing him play it and I was terrified when I would play and I was around 7-9. Definitely the part that scared me the most was the Butchers room LOL fat man chasing after me
@Marc0910 Everything is randomised, so it won't spoil your game if you read every guide on the net. Plus, I think I may have bought the exact same collection and you should find a pdf file on the cd.
I remember, like many on here, when my Dad bought this. I was about 7 years old and would watch him. When he was at work I'd play and never got far because of fear. I remember the moment when I never played again though.... the butcher.
I remember watching my brothers play. And when I'd tell them they needed to go a certain way, they'd give me the weirdest looks. And I was just a little kid back then.
@nachodc no the story starts off simple but nothin really going on, the plot comes through slowly in the game, not like every other game in the world, which is why it gives you the Diablo "feel"
Actually it was released in the US in December 1996, and in Europe 1997. It was so awesome at that time! (Well, nostalgia STILL makes it awesome though...)
@Popkinator Yea :P I played it on a Playstation 1 :D And believe it or not, on a swedish version! ( it sucked balls, but at that time we where to young to understand english haha ). Great memories thanks to this video..!!
I'll tell you the basic premise of Diablo 1. You, the adventurer, return to your home town of tristram to find it a shadow of its former glory. The King has gone insane over the loss of his missing son and was later killed by his guards. Soon after the Archbishop Lazzarus leads a band of adventurers down in the labrynth beneath the town church to find Albrect the king's missing son. The men who he lead down are killed by the butcher demon. This is where you come in.
I remember playing this in my basement. Talk about terrified! at that time the Dagger was the ultimate weapon for me.nothing was more powerful...I was 9.
A new type of arcade-RPG on it's release(1996) I suppose. I didn't play any of the Diablo games. The closest I came was probably Light Crusader for the Gen/MD, which I think I completed in less than a day. Some of these mid-late RPG games seemed like maybe an attempt to "Doomify" RPG gaming.
how come when I'm abt to enter the dungeon they have a guy lying next to it and yours doesn't? is there a specific dungeon to start off at? are ther multiple? I haven't played much but yeah just wondering if there is a specific way to beat it or if its like megaman where u just go fight whatever boss.
Juicebox Jr. I believe you have to talk to someone specific for that to happen (akara) maybe. I just know you have to talk to someone. sorry you had to wait so long for a reply. if you even wanna know still. :)
hell yeah, I didn't think of that! :-/ That should work. Thanks for reminding me of that spell, I completely forgot. (in case this comment sounds like sarcasm, it is not, I'm serious, I really just forgot about that option... a noob stays a noob, even at lvl 20 I guess =[ )
I played diablo 2 for 5-6 years, a couple of days ago I decided to play diablo 1 so I can be ready for D3... but it is really difficult to play, there is no proper item drops :/ got a level 19 warrior and im on level 13 - Hell.. cant play anymore keep dying to 3-4 groups.. any advice perhaps?
This game is actually developed by a team originally called Condor, they wanted to make a claymation turnbased rpg, they then went to blizzard with their idea, and blizzard got horny but changed a few details, like the combat system and the animation. after getting bought by blizzards father company, they changed their name from condor to blizzard North. In 2005 they broke up, and some of the staff moved on to Runic games and created Torchlight, cartoonish diablo clone!
I would LOL forever if the warrior said the famous duke nukem catchphrase " it's time to kick ass and chew bubblegum, but I'm all out of gum!" doesn't the warrior sound like duke nukem to you or is it just me?
Through the corrupted soulstone he corrupted Lazarus into kidnapping the king's child. Lazarus jammed the soulstone into the child's forehead giving Diablo a body in which he could eventually take his true form. You end up finding Lazarus in the Labrynth and kill him. You then go to kill Diablo, the Lord of Terror himself. Having now taked his demon form from the childs body. You slay him in the end. You then foolishly take the soulstone from the corpse and put it in your own forehead.
Hell yeah XD there is one called Draken Sang i think really good top view PvP aswel open world and awesome quests...you need to download it but its free :) and there is one called sacred online but its in the making sorry.....dont know anything else hope i helped
0:49 The fact that his walking matched the beat of the song perfectly lowkey made me really happy.
Didn't notice, u are a genius ❤
Welcome back to this comment!
I just started binging the diablo series & realized this. I'm groovin to it, too
I remember watching my Dad play this when I was a little girl. Once he was a rogue (who was a girl) and he named her after me: Lacee :3
omg...Now I feel old lmaoo
LaceeLasers That's seriously precious that your dad named his Rogue after you. c:
lol dude my dad played this too and i watched :D
your comments make me feel old 😥
You are =(
Man the memories. Good old times the Music... this scared the fuck out of me as a kid
funny shiit im playing right now.. still scare the fk out of me LOL due to the music
Thy Nguyen The nostalgia of this game series has been fouled ^^
Ikr? I used to watch my Dad play it when I was quite little and I remember when he defeated Diablo, I had to run out of the room because the cutscene that came after that was too scary for me xD
how epic is it watching your dad playing a nostalgic game!

Dude this and wow are two very very different games...
Vanilla WoW was made with a lot of passion, in my opinion.
The music and atmosphere makes everything so nervous and scary. Even the demons hit hard and you could almost feel the pain when the warrior shouted out in pain...
The muffling and screaming in the melody was an excellent musical choice
This was such an awe-inspiring experience as a kid. Even the gothic themed font felt otherworldly and haunting.
Just hearing the dungeon music again brings back all the times watching my brothers play the game.
Every single sound in this game gives me shivers of nostalgia.
And this game is still played online, even today. not many games that are 16+ years old and have two successful sequels can say that
agreed
What up i was just on your website lol, trying to obtain an iso or something for fall out 1 but cant because seemingly the contents are dangerous according to chrome
Ahhh those old times when Diablo 1 and 2 was so popular.. Diablo 3 has a lot of good graphics but.. you know..
+MINECRAFT TRAVELLERS Diablo 3 just doesn't seem as dark as 1 or 2 though it's really killing it for me. The novelty of WOW is bleeding over into blizzards other games way too much.
+MINECRAFT TRAVELLERS d3 is what happens when u decide to babysit
+MINECRAFT TRAVELLERS i think i would still play diablo 1 over diablo 3
+chopcooey I lost my CD so I can't play anymore I cried evri tim
+MINECRAFT TRAVELLERS wait let me get my rose tinted glasses..
the voice acting in this game is amazing. Blizzard always does a fantastic job on the dialogue
my dad played this when i was 5 1/2 years old and now im almost twelve brings back almost seven years worth of memories
@Sezirca Yes, when you install the game and load it up, there is a Multiplayer section. You can connect to battle.net from there and play with others. It shares the Battle.net with Warcraft 2, Starcraft I, Warcraft III, and Diablo II.
I like that in the beginning you were walking to the beat.
Interesting how Diablo 1 graphics are more polished and actually less pixelated than the ones from Diablo 2
uh no way lol are you high? I guess I can kinda understand the less pixelated part since the 6's don't look like 5's (lol) but overall the graphics in d2 are miles ahead of this. Here I am at 32 on a nostalgia trip remembering when I bought this game, pissing my pants when I got to "AAAAAAAH!! FRESH MEAT!!".... :P
30 here :))
Best line is when he enters the dungeon for the first time: The sanctity of this place has been fouled. Epic.

Im playing this on my PSP and I love it! I fell inlove with this game all over again even though it has a more basic GUI.

all those memories from my pass x)

the walking sound and the music is in sync at 0:49 :p
Nahoj that shit was trippy!
I really liked the light in the doorway at 0:38 :)
This game brings back memories. I remember seeing my dad play it and I was scared of seeing him play it and I was terrified when I would play and I was around 7-9. Definitely the part that scared me the most was the Butchers room LOL fat man chasing after me

one of the best pc games ever made!
Oh the memories. Played this so much, but never actually beat it.
When I played this as a kid, this was the coolest and scariest game ever the part of the music when the girl screamed actually gave me nightmares
one of the best games I ever played as a 13 year old
also remember that halfway in the game you had 10, 000, 000 gold....
I still got the CD and still playing it.
+Alex Aceves me too...
how do u play it bro, its not compatible anymore.
Windows Compatibility Mode
That was my favorite game when i was kid
I remember watching my brothers play. And when I'd tell them they needed to go a certain way, they'd give me the weirdest looks. And I was just a little kid back then.
So cool! brings back so many memories

I literally reclined back and had a geez im old moment. good memories simpler times
Actually it was released in the US in December 1996, and in Europe 1997. It was so awesome at that time! (Well, nostalgia STILL makes it awesome though...)
@Sezirca The game is really old, and when I last played in October there was only a few people on.
Dang, i remember i had this game for the PlayStation...This game was awesome =]
I love this game I had it for my ps1 and played it on my ps2 slim
@Popkinator Yea :P I played it on a Playstation 1 :D And believe it or not, on a swedish version! ( it sucked balls, but at that time we where to young to understand english haha ). Great memories thanks to this video..!!
incredible music!!!!!!!!!!!!!
good times brow
ah, i was close. i wasnt 100% sure because i never actualy played D1. i read up on the lore and i kno what happens tho so im excited
@Phishization i think so too, fits diablo better and not as jokish or whatever you might call it, Diablo 3 they are making it a cartoon basically
I remebered how addictive this game is

okay thanks :) I like it, it sounds good ^^. "I don't have a spell ready" is nice too :p
@nachodc it does for the second one but that's what i like about the first one
Well, its 15 years old. What would you expect? A lot has happened in gaming graphics since then. :P
@Skywallx erm.. i wanna ask one question, does diablo 1 run multiplayer like server or something ?
Doors, the last line of defense between humanity and Hell itself.
i used to play this game back in 1998
@sebaswildboy yes yes it is
it depent of where your bought it
i got the international version and i can choose 6 languages

hmmm... havent really played it much but i could recommend it if u like adventure-like-games mixed with a bit scary barrier
"Colonel, what the Hell is Paul Eiding doing in this game?!", "I have no idea Snake"
a true classic, I still play this
I used to play this when I was a young kid and it would always freak me out. lol

lol the joys of finding the butcher and screaming "HOLY SHIT!!! RUN!!!" and then severely shitting your pants :S
@Skywallx oh wow ! thanks for replying, but has it been active ?
Was sprint in towns not introduced until the expansion?

that was a badass game back then.
Best Diablo ever!
It would be so cool If they had all Diablo 1 2 and 3 gameplay in one u guys know what I mean?
hey, did'nt know that! That'll make life much easier now, thanks =)
hmm i've never played diablo hellfire, i have it tho XD looks like fun, maybe i'll have to try it sometime...
my dad loves the diablo games
Holy crap this game is more fun to watch than Diablo 3.
What program you use to record this game?
The old happy days
@Prikoliz the music and it was like the only *real* horror game back in the day... plus it was dark lol
Is there an opening of this game, or something that explain the plot?
Wow this is old and awsome 😊
hello my friend! stay awhile and listen! i was so sad when deckard dissapeared

Will this run on my yellow computer with 2MB VRAM?
@sampeng1 I think he does sound like Duke Nukem LOL, he sound completely like him when he got hit.
Diablo released in 1996 in USA and in 1997 in Europe.
