I am so happy you just did this video, I am going to share with my daughter whose hair just went from dark brown to yellowish blonde now and is going to be silver before school starts. This will help save money and get her hair as white as possible before the salon dyes it silver.
my friend left the shampoo in her hair too long and her hair turned lavender! it looked amazing lol but she prefers her hair platinum. The super light hair looks amazing on you, Brittany!
@monicaM20120- that exactly what you would do! Since her hair is yellow she uses the purple because they're opposite on the color wheel. If you have orangey tones blue would cut those and if you have reddish tones a green based ash would work on that. Just be careful with blues and greens, I would leave them on no longer than 10 minutes. You can always go back and re-tone but its hard to get blue and green tones out of blond hair. Hope this helps a little!
I wish I knew about this when I had my blonde hair. I was always afraid of doing any type of color because I didnt want it to leave a permanent tint behind on my blonde. Just something that was for a few weeks. Love these
I also use shimmering lights.I use it every time I shampoo and then use the conditioner as well.It does have an unpleasing oder but it doesn't make your hair smell after you rinse.
Some people are so rude. Have people never been taught that if they have nothing nice to say then dont say anything at all. These videos are brilliant and its nice of Brittany to do them for us she doesnt need or deserve to hear rude comments from sad people hiding behind a computer screen. Jealousy is an ugly trait! x
Your hair color is literally perfect!!! Shimmer lights is amazing! Thats crazy your salon charges for toning though! :( If you ever get a chance try the Joico Voilet Shampoo that one works wonders and isn't as drying!! xoxo
I actually really like Sally's "knock off" brand of Shimmer lights. It smells sooo good and you get 2-3 times more product for the same price. It works just as well if not BETTER.
You can also use a light ash blonde dye. However, with that said, most times dyes are semi permanent to permanent, so the colour will stick for a while. Use at your own risk!
Can you please do a hair care video? I recently went platinum and the integrity of my hair has really suffered but yours looks quite healthy. Love your videos by the way! :)
Wella t18, is such a simple way to tone it takes literally 5 min just put developer and party toner in a bowl stir it up, put it all over wet hair leave it in 5 min, it will look blue but that washes out and it perfectly tones. Better than waiting like 5 times with the shimmer lights to get that really cool platinum blonde cuz I don't have time to wait days to leave my house. Its super cheap too, you should really try it! I am def going to do a video on this!
Wow..ima hairstylist and we use purple shampoo but i never knew to leave it in there that long..i guess u learn somethin everyday lol..thnx for da video
there is also a maximum time recommended to keep bleaching powder (or other solutions). some natural hair contain more pigment, which gives yellowish tone after bleaching. keeeping long can cause hair loss :D
hello beautiful video is beautiful hair 😍 since I am Italian, and I do not understand everything unfortunately 😔 wanted to know how long you brush your hair, and then also put the silver balm and for how long thanks and congratulations 🎉😊😊😊
Toners aren't bad for your hair, some can actually condition your hair and improve it. You have to be careful though and keep an eye on it, if your hair is too porous it can pick up the ashy grey color very quickly. And you can tone with an ashy violet or violet :)
Baby girrrrllll! Have you tried the Shimmer Lights conditioner? It's a dollar more where I live. I'm going to use both and tag you in it so you can see
toning simply adds tones, or takes away tones. So, someone could get a dark color and tone their hair red. So the dark color would remain, but you'd see a more red version of that color. In this case (this video) she's using purple tones to cancel out yellow. ((purple is across from yellow on the color wheel)
Do you normally do the toning with shimmer lights in the shower on wet hair, or the way you showed us in the video? I use Joico purple shampoo and it says to leave it on like 5 minutes.
I'm also interested in this - I am in the process of going from a dark warm brown to a dark/medium cool blond (my natural) but the dye job i get always comes out with a lot of red and slightly brassy.
Just wondering. I've been using semi permanent pastels on my hair and they've faded but not enough. How do you go back to white blonde after you add color to your hair? Do you have to do a bleach bath? I kind of don't want to bleach it anymore.
Lóreal makes thé best silver shampoo, it can remove alot og yellow/orange toned color. but if i put it in like that my hair would turn purple unless its more yellow before. super effective to wash in. i just use it before my regular shampoo and treatment (: i really reccomend it (:
I use shimmer lights at home to tone mine too and it doesn't get mine as white as yours. I have left it in long enough to where my hair even has a lavender tinge to it for a couple days and it still just turns light blonde and not white like yours. I wonder what I'm doing wrong? My hair is already just as lightly blonde as your roots were?
So putting purple shampoo in dry hair than rinse it out and conditioner like normally? Please reply. I find purp shampoos drying. But they are a god send for taking out yellow.
how is you hair so healthy while bleaching it? I have been contemplating going platinum for a while lol but my hair is red and im un easy at doing more damage to it.. do you recommend anything?
Thank you, I might use Jhirmack silver shampoo and the Vo5 silver conditioner. I'm trying to avoid using permanent toner. I do want to color my hair with a light color so would I be better off toning it with the Wella Toner?
I do have to say I use the wella silver lady then wash with only purple shampoo, but my hair pulls red - grr. Works well tho just an FYI for anyone else with my problem!
I work at a very popular salon in NYC. Keep in mind the reason why salons charge you extra for extra services is because you're consuming product (which costs the salon money, obviously) and the stylist's time which obviously they should be paid for. I disagree that a toner should cost you $30-60 extra- it should be more around $15-20. But any salon that is actually going to charge you separately for bleaching & toning sounds bad to me. It should always be handled as a double process.
so i just bought some hair extensions that are a yellow bleach blonde, would putting shimmer lights purple shampoo that you used on your hair take it down to platinum blonde?
Will this work for brown hair with red a glow in it. I wanna have blond hair like yours, meybe a bit darker, but I can't find anything, which cover the red glow. And when I try to colour it blond, it do not work... Btw, nice video!;D
i'm planning on bleaching my hair from black to platinum blonde & i was wondering if you know if i could use the purple shampoo to tone immediately after i rinse out the bleach?
I use the same shampoo plus the conditioner of that kind too! Works amazing! Takes out any yellow, brightens the blonde, great in between touch ups!
I am so happy you just did this video, I am going to share with my daughter whose hair just went from dark brown to yellowish blonde now and is going to be silver before school starts. This will help save money and get her hair as white as possible before the salon dyes it silver.
Thanks Brittany - non-damaging toner - very helpful. Also, an Olaplex treatment helped my hair's condition immensely.
YOURE GORGEOUS!!!
Forever jealous of your hair Brittany, so pretty!
love your hair !
This video came out just in time! As I'm planning to dye my hair lavender soon!!! Thank you Brittany!!!!
I adore your eyeshadow❤
my friend left the shampoo in her hair too long and her hair turned lavender! it looked amazing lol but she prefers her hair platinum. The super light hair looks amazing on you, Brittany!
love your hair and i think you're gorgeous!!
Your hair looks so soft and healthy
Love all of your videos!
You make it look so easy!
Hey love, how often are you finding that you have to tone after doing it once?
Thank ya!
@monicaM20120- that exactly what you would do! Since her hair is yellow she uses the purple because they're opposite on the color wheel. Loved it!!. Thank you sooo much needed this video for my hair

I wish I knew about this when I had my blonde hair. I was always afraid of doing any type of color because I didnt want it to leave a permanent tint behind on my blonde. Just something that was for a few weeks. Love these
This video is so helpful!! :) I love your haircolor.
I really like the yellow blonde look you have here it's really pretty you don't even need to tone
I can definitely see the difference after you used a the shampoo! Also, loving your hair and the background.
I also use shimmering lights.I use it every time I shampoo and then use the conditioner as well.It does have an unpleasing oder but it doesn't make your hair smell after you rinse.
Yay! I literally screamed in happiness when I saw this video in my subscriptions box :)
very helpful, i was just about to look up different technics to do this; awesome timing :)
Very helpful thank you Brittany!
Wow súper genial!!!
This really helped a lot! Thank you!

You can do it on dark hair, but it will have very little effect, if any at all. Toning is a process for hair that's been pre-lightened.
Can you please do a hair care video? I recently went platinum and the integrity of my hair has really suffered but yours looks quite healthy.
Love your videos by the way! :)
Wow thanks for the video! I have that shampoo and I will be doing this soon :)

i friggin love ur vids ur awesome :)
pleaaaaaaase do a makeup collection and storage video!
why does you hair look to healthy! I wish mine was lol
no shimmer lights wont lighten your hair any lighter, it is used to tone out any brassiness, so it couldn't hurt to use it :)
love your eyeshadow color! what is it please? =)
thank youuuuuu. x
Wow..ima hairstylist and we use purple shampoo but i never knew to leave it in there that long..i guess u learn somethin everyday lol..thnx for da video
Love the new hair! Platinum > Pastel :) Great video.
it washes out gradually and goes back to blonde by itself.
Love.
so grateful for this video, and that I have purple shampoo already! my hair is a yello mess right now.
there is also a maximum time recommended to keep bleaching powder (or other solutions). some natural hair contain more pigment, which gives yellowish tone after bleaching. keeeping long can cause hair loss :D

Hi Britney, when you tone your hair do you wash it first? Or is it ok to have the oil and leave in conditioner in the hair? I
Baby girrrrllll! Have you tried the Shimmer Lights conditioner? It's a dollar more where I live. I'm going to use both and tag you in it so you can see
Ah I just toned my hair today! Nothing like silver/white hair!!!

you have nice hair!!
ah thanks for making this video
Thanks :)

@Tara Swain well said
So putting purple shampoo in dry hair than rinse it out and conditioner like normally? Please reply. I find purp shampoos drying. But they are a god send for taking out yellow.
Yes I agree shimmer lights stinks, I actually just went to Sally's to buy a new bottle today haha
how is you hair so healthy while bleaching it? I have been contemplating going platinum for a while lol but my hair is red and im un easy at doing more damage to it.. do you recommend anything?
I have natural black Asian hair and I aant it to go pastel pink :/ how do you suggest I go about this?
Thank you, I might use Jhirmack silver shampoo and the Vo5 silver conditioner. I'm trying to avoid using permanent toner. I do want to color my hair with a light color so would I be better off toning it with the Wella Toner?
Toning hair won't make it lighter. All toning does is remove unwanted tone, i.e. Uses purple to neutralize yellow.
so do you do it when your hairs dry and just wet the shampoo? x
Bio silk makes a very God purple shampoo also to maintain the cooler blonde tone
I do have to say I use the wella silver lady then wash with only purple shampoo, but my hair pulls red - grr. Works well tho just an FYI for anyone else with my problem!
how do you get your hair so dark grey? I absolutely love it but haven't found a way to get it as gray, not silver, as you have in some of your videos!
after u tone it how long does it last before u have to do it again?
Will this work for highlights too?
where do you buy your pravana hair dye?
How often do you tone your hair?

how long do you go before bleaching your roots again
Can you make a video of how you go back to white blonde after you dyed it a pastel pink color
you are pretty
How did you get the coral/pink out of your hair? Did you just let it fade?
How do you keep your hair looking healthy after all the bleaching?
If you did this method on naturally dark brown hair would it turn the hair orange?
so i just bought some hair extensions that are a yellow bleach blonde, would putting shimmer lights purple shampoo that you used on your hair take it down to platinum blonde?
Dont leave it on them for too long, extensions color faster
will this work for brassy brown hair ?
How long do you leave the shampoo in your hair?
Will this work for brown hair with red a glow in it. I wanna have blond hair like yours, meybe a bit darker, but I can't find anything, which cover the red glow. And when I try to colour it blond, it do not work...
Btw, nice video!;D
i'm planning on bleaching my hair from black to platinum blonde & i was wondering if you know if i could use the purple shampoo to tone immediately after i rinse out the bleach?
I went from black to blonde n it took me some time to get it but still golden blonde so its gonna take some time if u donot wanna damage ur hair
Where did you buy the shoes behind you in the video?
