- Imagine a gigantic cosmic structure is right in front of our eyes and we've just never seen it! Something strange has been found near Andromeda and astronomers are stunned that they have overlooked this huge object all these years. But what is it and how can the sudden appearance of a structure the size of an entire galaxy be explained? The Andromeda galaxy is our direct galactic neighbor and the newly discovered structure may have something to do with a mysterious connection between our Milky Way and the Andromeda galaxy.

There should be a similar one beneath the Andromeda galaxy. It is the output from the central black hole. Not everything gets sucked in, and as the emissions reach an outer limit, it starts to cool and forms a cloud. The bottom one should be further out because we see one facing side.
I was wondering if u were showing a pic of sdso-1 somewhere as the images keep going and going and changing, with no indication of what we're looking at. Perhaps a pic taken by the 3 astronomers would help to get some idea of what it looks like...

Very interesting but please stop taking about the "purpose" or "roll" that these things may or may not have, they have no purpose at all, they are merely the consequence of something else happening, with no other reason to be there than it being the result of some other action. The words "purpose" and the idea of "reason for existing" are not interchangeable in this instance.

I think one reason is as valid as another when trying to make sense of reality, the universe….. we are like ants looking at the jungle around us thinking we can know what is and how it came to be and assuming we know anything about what if anything exists outside their jungle home. We are so arrogant. I love all things science related but I know our theories are just that…,,theories! So I think it’s to early to exclude or be resigned to a certain theory when the truth is, none of us know

Imagine how terrifyingly beautiful the sky will look when our merging galaxies start affecting our area of the galaxy. We might have hundreds of close stars and planets that we could visit, until earth would inevitably be destroyed. We might end up orbiting an entirely new star which wouldn’t fare well for life on our planet. But imagine the light show you’d get before that happened

Doubly ionized Oxygen? What could possibly be the source of Oxygen way out there? I doubt it would be photosynthesis like it is on Earth!

Why do you keep inferring that this is gas? When in reality you also say ionized, which means it is plasma! And since a plasma can carry a current, that can explain why it is there.
According to my Bible there was no big bang. God created the heavens and the Earth. He spoke it all into existence for His pleasure. It is however very interesting and beautiful. We get to enjoy God's greatness and, we should be in awe. We have learned much from His Universe and God has given man the knowledge to explore it. We should be thankful giving God the praise and glory for all things🙂

The universe purpose it serves is to hold creation and all the elements that are needed for creation to exist and function.The universe is like a gigantic laboratory for a creator or creators to create. Intelligent life forms like human beings on earth and all levels of life like microbial life forms plant and all life forms on a level we cannot comprehend with.
