If you're interested in MVs, you can start with the 'Macaroni Cheese' MV. 'Macaroni Cheese,' 'XXL,' and 'ATE THAT' were all directed by the same director Ben Proulx, with Jerry Shin as the writer and creator. The opening of 'ATE THAT' features Ben & Jerry, which are their names. You'll find some common themes and Easter eggs across them, and watching in sequence will help you better understand some of the details.
i am actually gagged (this is a good thing) this GROUP AHHHHHH SOOOO GOOD !!!!!! i hate that i am so late to watching this MV!!!!! educate me. EVERTYHING U KNOW RIGHT NOW!!!!!! i want to watch all of their other stuff rn but i am going to be patient ): it will be hard but let is be known this is NOT THE LAST U WILL SEE OF THEM HERE OKAY
They debuted on Oct 18,2023 with Macaroni Cheese EP. Debut Album: POSSE Up, Macaroni Cheese, OTB, Cooing. XXL EP: Scars, XXL, DND, skyline and ROTY. ATE THAT EP: Loading..., ATE THAT, Bananas, Umbrella ❤❤❤
As you saw, they are _very_ young. Of course they work a lot, like all K-pop groups, but it seems their company also takes care to let them have lots of fun, and show it to the fans. They technically have two vocalists and three rappers, but all the rappers sing, all the singers rap, and obviously they all also dance. Umm. They also have a couple of "associated members", as TelePossy tends to think of them. They hired Ben Proulx to direct their debut MV, and while he had experience with music videos, it was also Ben's first foray into K-pop. He keeps coming up with these nutty MVs, and we love it; so far he has directed all of their title tracks. He also brought in several of his friends, first Mass of Man, an American rapper whose MVs Ben produced before, and who plays the guardian of the secret recipe in Ate That; and then in the next MV Mary, a 90-year-old lady, who you also saw here. I am not sure, but I think YP was the first girl group to embrace the hip-hop genre. XG (yes, I know, not K-pop) was flirting with it, but AFAIK it wasn't till Woke Up that they made a full rap song. And while I like them, and I really like BadVillain, Young Posse is special, in that they don't just do hip-hoppy K-pop, they truly pay homage to old school rap, while being so unserious about that. And they write a lot of their own lyrics, too! Also, their videos and shorts are hilarious, often doing things I haven't seen elsewhere. Besides the three title tracks (Macaroni Cheese, XXL, Ate That) they also have a video for Young Posse Up (originally a B-side called Posse Up, but now with pretty famous features), which is not done by Ben, where their main vocal Jiana shocked me with a self-written verse about how she started learning rap just three months ago (!) and how writing lyrics is hard and how she wonders if anyone will pay attention to what someone like her manages write... in a show of both vulnerability and absolute bossness. tl;dr: anything is good. Including B-sides. Also, check out BadVillain's Hurricane :)
Omg this is such great info! It sounds like they are loving Ben for their title tracks and I can’t wait to check those out eeee!!! Yes it’s been such a long time for me at least to see a girl group jumping into old school hip hop?!?! Such a pleasant surprise but a good one to say the LEAST 👀😭 I can’t wait to see more of their stuff!! BadVillain still feel super fresh to me and I’ve definitely got them on my radar for sure ☺️🤭 Thanks for being here!! :) I love learning more about these new groups!!
Alphaz support/are cool with Young Posse. their best songs are Young Posse Up music video, XXL, R.O.T.Y Lyric video, Scars Lyric Video, DND(Feat. BM of Kard) Lyric video, Loading.. Lyric video. YP is under DSP Media same as the kpop co-ed group KARD.
They debut not too long ago. I wasn't a huge fan of the first couple of tracks but this was MUCH better IMO, dope! Most folks consider XG as "X-pop" 😁There's a new Japanese boy group with old school hip hop and CRAZY video, NUMBER_I, INZM. Highly recommend. 🐺
