Journey for Tuba - III. Finale

  • The last movement to Journey for Tuba with digital accompaniment. Note, the tuba in this recording is computerized. It was performed by Eric Henry and the Harrisburg Symphony last year but due to union recording contract silliness I'm unable to share that with the world even if I don't intend to make money off of that recording. Pretty dumb, right? Anyway if you liked this piece and you would like to perform it for yourself go to www.briansadler.org to buy the solo sheet music which includes an MP3 of the accompaniment. Also you can buy the orchestral version and coming soon is a concert band arrangement! Yay!

This might be the best piece for tuba ever written. Very, very cool writing in all three movements.

O músico só pode ser um extra terrestre para tocar essa peça. Tenho que nascer de novo com uma tuba no berço para tocar isso.
Como não acredito em reencarnação, jamais tocarei Bravo

I would be very, VERY scared if this was handed to me. Would need several private lesson times.

This looks really fun! I'm working on building by chops back up after a few years of not really playing at all, been picking up the tuba more lately though! Covid was tough for me, most of my socializing came in the form of community ensembles and I've since moved so haven't done anything in at least three years. This ought to get my embouchure up to speed! I've focused more on solo music production with guitar/bass lately, but recording tuba would be good practice as well- I'll pick up the score and backing track soon!

It would also be cool to write as a marching piece, would love to see something that dark and nasty sounding on the field

I'm thinking of purchasing this piece for my final year recital at my conservatoire and was wondering if anyone knows whether or not you get a score with the digital copy of this through www.briansadler.org website. Apologies if this was a dumb question just need to have a score to hand in to the adjudicators as the solo part alone isn't enough

That cadenza at measure 130 is similar to a part of this movement in the Derek Bourgeious Trombone Concerto: ua-cam.com/video/iueBRU6PewM/v-deo.html ; albeit with some differences.

Yeah it is a little similar, thanks for sharing that. At 130 I was quoting the first movement of the piece
