I am so glad to hear another naurologist talking about this; my neurologist loves that I intermittent fast and eat "single ingredient" foods 95% of the time. When I told him that my Tecfidera was interfering with me following this diet he immediately said, "ok, enough said, we need to find a different DMT for you". I personally have less day-to-day presence of my residual symptoms of my MS. I hope these videos encourage others to try it and they too can find success. I have learned to enjoy the feeling of being hungry/ having an empty stomach because of the benefit it has to the rest of my life.

@@AaronBosterMD I have this issue as well - needing to eat high fatty foods when I take tecfidera (usually a peanut butter protein bar) is NOT fasting til noon. If I only eat that protein bar, does that count against the noon to 8pm regimen? i super do not like the flushing that comes with the tec without it!

I have a little story. I used to be 210 lbs until I saw diabetes dietitian and lost 59 lbs. By exercising, walking, and eating in small portions at lunch and dinner. I have stop eating around 4:30 pm or around 5:00 pm. I have stop eating at fast food.

I’ve been doing intermittent fasting for over two years now, eat very clean, been taking Vitamin D3 for years and make sure to have 60-90 ounces of water a day. It has made a huge difference.
I can always tell when I haven’t had enough water or if I cheat too much (it’s the holidays so the treats are of abundance right now) how it not only affects my body as a whole but also my MS.
Great advice and happy holidays and new year! 🧡 #wehavems

Great Video, Doc. I changed my diet and removed sugar, dairy and grains. No processed foods. I started in the summer and I’ve dropped 30# and I have much more energy and I’m happy! This is something that I can control in my life and see and feel the positive outcomes. Sometimes I need that.

I get up and have a wholewheat cereal with fruit and coconut milk fortified with vitimin D and B12. i eat it at about 8.30ish. I wake early about 4am, so i do drink water when i wake up. I have one coffee when i wake up. 1pm i have my main meal. I dont eat a lot as i cant anymore but what i eat is all fresh, lots of fruit as well and water again. i only eat fish and chicken, eggs then a lot of fresh salads or even some mixed grain salads. i love beetroot too. i eat slow as i have issues with my bowel at the moment and i cant eat much it gives me stomach ache. I NEVER eat processed food, fried or pizza. chips puke lol. i dont snack. at 5.30, i have a small supper with pure yoghurts and fruit and some gluten free crisps not fried. again i drink water all day but atter 5pm I just have small drink. I lost weight and even my BP went down a lot and i wasnt heavy. I cant eat sweet things, or cakes or doughnuts ugh. give me a bowl of fruit any day lol. Never eat a takeaway now thats poison lol. I dont get so much fatigue i never sleep in the day. I have PPMS and am 70. Oh i take a cranberry tablet every day, garlic and VITIMIN D3 2000iu. plus i try to eat foods fortified as well.

We always cook at home, and I raised my girls to stay away from processed foods. That if you cannot read it, don’t eat it. I worked as a Pilates and yoga instructor until I couldn’t anymore, now I have adapted my Pilates to a therapeutic pool, and have been blessed to teach others with chronic illness at the facility. So I’ve been naturally connected to my body through years of practice. I stopped eating after 8ish because I would sick all night if I did, I drink a lot of water, eat whole foods-I really believe that everything would’ve progressed much quicker, and worse if I hadn’t. I’ve been a clean eater since my 20s, and just turned 50. Taught ‘on land’ for 15 years, and in the pool now for 3. Thank you for what you do for MS patients!

I was feeling so miserable (not diagnosed with MS, but I have many MS symptoms) -
I decided to switch to the “Plant Based Diet”, yes I cut out meat, dairy, eggs, gluten, sugar and coffee. I wanted to do it just for a little while, but I started to feel sooo much better! I made the decision to make my new way of eating my way of life :)

I am so happy that you're sharing the benefits of IF and whole foods!!! I discovered IF and eating low carb back in mid July. I'm down 47 Lbs. Another 7Lbs and I'll be at my goal weight!!! I haven't felt this good in 15 years! Seriously!!
I would LOVE to know how Autophagy could benefit my MS too!!❤😁❤

Thank you for sharing- Dr Beabs does some great education. He is SO detailed.
Your reinforcement of upping our water gain, and IF always reminds me to check on how I’m doing. As with MS cog issues- I can easily forget “ oh I’m not supposed to be eating now” 😂🤷🏻‍♀️🤦‍♀️
I keep trying 💪🏻 and remind myself. Your extra reminders are great.

Good advice as always and the repetition helps it sink in. Thanks for acknowledging how difficult it is. As a single guy I’m accountable to only myself which makes it even harder. And my Great Dane loves French fries as much as I do - and who doesn’t want a happy Great Dane?
I’m trying to make smallish changes starting with increasing water (and decreasing Diet Coke). It’s a constant battle though.

      @Rachel McIntyre,
      Excellent Question!!
And maybe a topic for a future video. Lots of us MSers are on oral meds that we CAN pronounce, & so tips about how & when to take them & with WHAT would be a pretty neat presentation.
I take my Siponimod 1x along with my Vit D3 (2×5000) at the end of the day right before I start to chant, "Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep....."

I do all of this and I have since my diagnosis. i don't know if it is working as I have not strayed from it since I started - except for the danish I had on vacation made in a small mountain town - however I do not plan on testing it by temporarily getting off the wagon. My next thing, and I struggle with it, is knowing what products to use ON my body. Dr Boster, maybe you can share some information on how to avoid toxic products that we put on the largest organ (lotions, soap, ...) and in our mouth that we don't actually consume (tooth paste, mouth wash, ...). I appreciate you and your willingness to share information with your patients and not-patients, Paul and I are both please that we are now seeing you as my doctor and having you on our team.

I’ve been doing Weight Watchers for almost 4 months now and recently added intermittent fast after your video. The only part I have a problem with is the no snacking. I don’t think having an afternoon fruit and after dinner watermelon isn’t a problem. What do you think Dr. B. (Watermelon with a little Tajin seasoning has become my new obsession! lol)
