  • The amount of time you can comfortably go between feeding and pumping is partially determined by your breast storage capacity. This is not based off the size of your breast.

Does pumping 2-3 ounces after a feeding suggest i have a medium storage capacity?

After feeding baby (within 30 minutes of baby taking a full meal) would indicate a large amount of milk. 2-3 Oz in place of directly feeding (after not feeding within 2-3 hours) would show a very typical, normal supply.

@@lalactation ah ok. I assumed i had a medium storage capacity. Sometimes my baby only takes one side if im very full. He'll usually take one side and take just enough to ease the pressure off the other side. His weight gain has been good. He was born 7lbs13oz dropped down to 7lbs2oz and at his 6 month appointment he was 20lbs 5.5 ozs. Ive always fed him on demand and throughout the night. He had jaundice that took awhile to clear. My doctor said to nurse often. It cleared up in about a month. Never needed light therapy he was right under the threshold for it. He had close monitoring.
