    I picked one up in Sydney a few years ago that had been stored for 13 years . I brought it for a project as It had only 8000 ks on the bike. I have had to renew the tyres, replace all the fluids and oil, spark plugs and put a rebuild kit through the carbs and replace the rubber adapter boots as all rubber that comes in contact with the fuel was dried out and perished. The rest of the bike was good.

    I've just subscribed , I'm 64 years old and I'm back riding after a 21 year lay off. I just bought a 250rr and it's in the shop being refurbished . It's a 1996 model , it's not bad for a 21 year old bike . It hasn't been ridden for seven years ,I paid $3800 for it . I look forward to more vlogs on the rr. Cheers Jeff sayers.

    • @Daschickenify
      @Daschickenify 3 роки тому +2

      @@jjRoxy My dad and I imported an MC19(slightly different older model vs the 250RR) from Canada to the U.S. about six years ago. Getting through the border was pretty much just have them confirm its 25+ years old and its good to go, took about an hour. They will give you paperwork you will need to register it later. Once in our home state of Georgia, to register it there we needed to have a police officer come down and check the VIN and make sure its not stolen, they would then fill out some paperwork that we could use to title and register it.
      Insurance was interesting, I think we had to call as their online system would not accept the Japanese VIN as it has a different number of digits, you don't need to go to some boutique insurance company though, thankfully.
      As far as buying it in the first place, my dad had a Canadian buddy who bought it and kept it for us until we could make the 2000 mile trip to get it and bring it back. We used kijiji dot ca (website) to find the bike. For parts, we have to pretty much order from Japan or Australia, its not too bad, but don't expect cheap, new, and fast parts.
      If you've got any specific questions, go ahead and ask. My dad knows more about this subject than I do, he did most of the work! I still own the bike to this day, only reason I would part with it is an equivalent fuel injected replacement, the ZX25R. I don't think that's going to happen, but I can dream.

    1:43 look a little further ahead when riding. Say to yourself what's up ahead that might affect you - junctions, vehicles, road signs, lights, etc.
    You left yourself with about 2 seconds when you moved out for the bus at this junction.
    I realise you were talking so you're a bit distracted.
    When I was learning someone told me to look further ahead and I read British police motorcycle instruction manual, it's only short or it was back then. It also talks about looking further ahead.
    I found that by looking further ahead I could go faster while being safer. It also meant I had more time to respond to things because everything that was in front of me I was already planning for and I have made time for it because I saw it earlier in the distance.
    This also works for cars, but I found it was especially useful on bikes.
    Also helps with seeing speed cameras and the police :-)
    Hope this helps whoever reads it.

    • @Google_Does_Evil_Now
      @Google_Does_Evil_Now Рік тому

      Again 1:55 you seem to go very close to the truck before moving into the next lane.
      Not only are you in the blind spot for the truck driver, because you don't move out until the last second he isn't going to have much time to see you either.
      If you make your movement several seconds before this then at least he probably has time to spot you once in his mirrors.
      Maybe twice.
      That looking ahead will give you all of this extra time for yourself as well as for others to see you.
      It also means you will have looked behind you to know what's there before you make your move and you'll have made your move several seconds before this.
      You're usually find yourself with empty space and more time and so you can go faster while being safer.

    A mate has one & regulator / rectifier problems are common & spark plug leads can be found to easily perish . Also the sla batteries don't handle the high current draw of both high beam headlights being on simultaneously all that well even with the rectifier / regulator replaced .The battery is slightly inadequate . I have done carburettor balancing on his bike earlier this week . You didn't address some of the weakness of the MC22 . You may have bought one that was moderately used but serviced regularly .You would have had a repair or two done but failed to discuss this .

    • @robertmcfadyen9156
      @robertmcfadyen9156 2 роки тому

      My mate's bike ran after repairs but the engine blew after a sustained redlining he gave it when still not warmed up . The rev limit was set a bit high for the stroke by Honda , big mistake . My recently acquired FZR has had no problems . They (MC22's) are NOT bulletproof . My FZR is $420 a year for comprehensive . Your engine runs a bit rough at high rpm.

I am only 167cm and I can flat foot with bent knees, whilst the peg positions are a little higher than normal 250's they are still comfortable and worse case get yourself some cheap Chinese adjustable's to give yourself more space. I'm 5' 8" and I can barely fit my helmet behind the windshield when in a full tuck. The footpegs are pretty high for me, like Richie said, you may want to buy adjustable pegs. However, don't let your height stop you from getting an amazing bike! I paid $3000 Canadian for my 1988 MC19 and imported it into Merica'.

      Id say they are twice as cheap when bought in AUS/NZ/JAP compared to get them in EU. U can consider it a holiday trip. Many ppl travel the world for no reason at all. At least u have some palpable aim if u choose this option :)

    How would you compare this to the ZX2R ?

    • @sil3ntstrikz
      @sil3ntstrikz  7 років тому +1

      I have not ridden one personally but they are very similar in power output and are from the same era. A mate of mine did have one and he said the CBR250RR felt the same.

    • @axlerose4744
      @axlerose4744 7 років тому

      RichieRides Do you have any experience with the GSXR250RR and FZR250R ? Thanks again. Apparently the GSX is the lightest out of all of them. The FZR has EXUP so it's meant to have better bottom range power but it is quite heavy.

    • @sil3ntstrikz
      @sil3ntstrikz  7 років тому +1

      Not the GSXR 250, they are super rare. Not sure they were even released in Australia. The FZR250R is again very similar to the CBR250RR and the ZX2R, similar horsepower, think it might be a tiny bit faster than the CBR250rr from recollection. There was a guy in my local CBR250RR group and he said it was pretty much the same as the 250RR to ride.

    • @axlerose4744
      @axlerose4744 7 років тому +1

      RichieRides The FZR250R has EXUP which is meant to give it more low end power. Apparently the Suzuki is the lightest out of all of them and has fully adjustable suspension as well. I'm leaning more towards the Yamaha because it's different and with the EXUP it should drive better as well.

    Dude the sound the noise the beautiful symphony of that 4 cylinder above 8000 RPMs is exactly why somebody wants to ride this you are the wrong person for this bike and you probably shouldn't even be commenting on it. You don't even sound like you know the history of it . Between 1985 and 1995 Japan wouldn't allow you to own a bike on the street over 250 ccs . So the big four went to war and the result was these little DEMON POCKET ROCKETS !!! THESE THINGS ARE BADASS. And the later versions were revving upwards to 20000 + RPMs
    So as I'm watching the video a little bit further I'm hearing you contradict yourself at first you said you don't like the sound of it and part way through the video you say you love the sound you sound pretty confused

    • @RichardHughesSpokeCulture
      @RichardHughesSpokeCulture 9 місяців тому

      Mate to be clear I loved that bike, I have owned other bikes since but non give me fonder memories that the mighty Honda MC22 :)

  • @lasalbanula4543

    Does the cbr 250r mc17 sound the same?

    • @RichardHughesSpokeCulture
      @RichardHughesSpokeCulture 6 років тому +2

      It should sound somewhat similar, as far as I understand the powerplant on the MC19 and MC22 was much the same. Whilst I have not seen one in the flesh, based on the sound and video clips I have seen it sounds similar to the MC22, same cam gear wine and engine notes. N.B my MC22 has a yoshi pipe so the exhaust is a fair bit louder than stanard.
