Welcome to The Gel Lyfe - I started this channel as I've been a "sneakerhead" most of my life and built a solid sneaker collection of around 200 pairs.. BUT feel the "scene" has lost any REAL sense of community and sick and tired of seeing the same kicks online or on feet. Namely Jordan 1 (fukin Mids!), Nike Dunk Lows and Adidas Yeezy Peezy's!
So I started a mission to sell my entire shoe collection and just focus on the best sneakers of all time... the Asics Gel Lyte 3!

Awesome! Thanks for doing this! This was great! Always wondered what the gel unit looked like. I also thought there were two gel units in the shoe.

@@thegellyfe Just found the advert you are mentioning because I had the same thought. It's a different model, the GT-Xpress that shows the two units. Shoe is still mad comfy though!

@@thegellyfe 😃 Yeah.. I was surprised at how tiny the Gel pod was, when we are used to seeing all the huge Air bubbles from Nike.
But they ARE pretty comfortable! I feel like some of them are way softer than others, though.. Like there are differences in the midsole blends from model to model, and probable also a factor how old they are. But the same can be said about Boost, so...!
I'm fully in for shit like this, Love deconstructing cushioning tech.

THE OG GEL UNITS were like a slightly translucent creme colour instead of this ones red colour, the gel inside was whitish, there was an even smaller unit on the lower end 45/50quid asics gel trainers back then, under the insole heel! part of the insole!

Sick video as usual man. I'm kinda bummed that a) the gel unit is only in the heel, b) it's just a thin slab of gel cushioning, & c) it doesn't seem like there's a torsional plate in there somewhere. Yet at the same time, it almost makes me forget all of that, because the shoes are COMFORTABLE; not ultraboost levels of comfort, but it's a solid 6, maybe 7/10
We know asics can take a beating, but what about ultraboost? I want to buy my mom shoes as a gift, and she wants comfort and I also want it to last long.
Yeah mate - I feel the same, defo underwhelming BUT (like you say) GL3’s are one of the most comfortable shoes out there - sooooo 🤷♂️
Yeah bro - I’ve had my ultraboost as gyms shoes for nearly 4 years and their still going strong!! 👌

haha! yeah - what is it about ripping stuff apart we love from day one!.. and yeah, LOVE watches and always promised myself I'd own a decent one. Wanna get a few more but its a bit more expensive than shoes!!!!!!

That was sort of disappointing lol. I wanted a full explosion of gel like you just popped a creme filled donut. Anyway, Nice video, I could never sacrifice my own shoe like that.
I was expecting the "gel" to look similar to hair gel and fill the whole midsole of the shoe.
