I have never heard of this until just now, but I looked it up apparently I live a few miles from the original school in Narita. Maybe I should go check it out. Edit: It is apparently not the original school, but a dojo run by a representative of the current-day school headmaster.
This video is one of many reasons why I'm an indefinite subscriber. I adore history, I have my own limited knowledge acquired throughout the years and it expands thanks to the scarce sources I trust like this platform. Today's video went above and beyond expressing humility, honesty, and grace. Rafael, I truly thank you for all your efforts - and I speak for all subscribers here that you are treasured. ❤
I am so glad to have found your videos, because not many are this transparent or care that much to speak the truth. I also find it admirable that you correct yourself and in the first place accept when you have something wrong. My respect 👏👏👏👏
I recall during my time in service in The Army at a place called Grafenwohr Germany. We were transitioning from the M60A1 rise passive to the M60A3TTS. One day we were in the motor pool inventorying BII and other items when the tank commander told me he wanted me to study the dash 10 and get up on the new engine starting procedures. Well, the only difference generally speaking between the Rise Passive model and the TTS was the upgraded gunnery systems, the automotive systems were basically the same. Hop in, master battery, fuel pumps, start that big ole diesel. In respect to his rank, and the man, I told him that there was no new start up procedure, he proceeded to tell me he would check the dash 10 and prove me wrong. A few minutes later he says "Hey S.....?" "I answered back, "Yes Sgt.?" "You were right, I owe you an apology." With that simple statement, my respect for the man went way up, there was a man that was trying his best to follow the precepts of the Leadership manual. This is why I respect You Metatron, you are always so humble, and willing to admit your shortcomings, yet you stand firm when you are in the right. Drive on brother, drive on!
This was a good video idea! And you hut the nail on the head with your advice to creators. It can be easy to be wary or even defensive about criticism since a lot of people really are aggresive and resort to personal attacks but even then, there might be small grains of actual criticism we can learn from. How open you are about past mistakes as well as your work ethic and focus on actual truth are both uncommon to see and among the main reasons I think a lot if us really like both you and your channel, Raph. Keep it up, man!
Je te respecte d'avoir fait ce vidéo Métatron!! (I don't know how good is your French but something tells me you will decipher the meaning of my message in seconds 😉)
I think that it will be better to add an addendum to correct a mistake instead of completely erasing it from a video. Mistakes are also interesting, you can explain why you made a particular mistake...we can learn from mistakes!
I was going to suggest something similar because it shows how to be able to admit and correct a mistake in a positive way. Also shows that it's OK to make mistakes as long as your willing admit and correct it
It’s crazy that personal accountability is such a rare thing and I’m so thankful there’s amazing content creators like yourself who are about truth over anything else , even pride . I don’t know why so many have a hard time admitting their wrong , I love being proven wrong personally , that means I now have the chance to update /change that wrong info with the correct info . Your channel is always such a joy and I enjoy all the content you put out , you’re a true professional
I always appreciate humble experts! Like Elon Musk said in an interview once: "Even experts can be wrong sometimes" I tend to trust people who admits their flaws more than the ones claiming never to be wrong. Because we're all humans. I like how detailed you are in your descriptions, explain all the aspects to consider in a subject. Thank you for your work and sharing your passion!
Your honesty and willingness to be open about this subject is very much appreciated. I am glad we can all learn (and grow) together. Thank you good sir!
For an unscripted video, this was presented very well. You've had it on your mind for some time. Also have gotten better over the years. You really need to appreciate how much you've grown and advanced since you began.
Text books often have new editions that have included further information or amendments so the very same principle should be considered acceptable when it comes to videos. It's something that can often help scholars not become stagnant and also to mitigate quite a lot of unnecessary anger. We all can't have all the answers but at the same time, we can't be terrified of presenting what we know or learned. This is why with the large majority of articles and journals I read, the author will present limitations in their study and also recommend "Further study is required in (Insert whatever here)" In a world where strengths are seen as acceptable while our shortfalls and limitations are not tolerated because we don't want to be seen as vulnerable, we get too many people wanting to fight and double down on the worst possible things. We would rather present ourselves as smart rather than wise.
Respect for noting your mistakes and acting on them. Very important in an educational context, for the reasons you mentioned. Glad to see you're keeping the Akashic Record safe, Metatron.
You are very honorable, taking such a strict stance on the accuracy of viking runes, seeing how little we (the casual public understanding, at least) know for certain about their ancient application. Also, I'm sorry that some factions within your chosen martial art felt such hate towards you that they made you feel unwelcome in the practice thereof.
Everything you said is well-reasoned, with humility and a commitment to truth. I look forward to your response to the "Black Egypt" counter-claims. I was quite surprised I didn't know about the Queen you mentioned in your Cleopatra video, as I have made an effort at reading the history of Kush and it's successor states (Nubia, Nobatia, Makuria, Darfur, Alodia, etc.) but I never knew of her.
Love your videos, they are so informational. Almost didn't watch this one because it wasn't historical, but so glad I did. You are righteous! So glad you do this channel.
I am new to your channel. I watched a few videos. I like some of them, especially the ones regarding the Roman period of history. I understand that your interest is Religions, Armor, Weapons, fighting techniques, history, and Japanese culture. I apologize if I have missed some aspects of your interest. In addition, You voice an opinion about almost everything other vloggers published on the topics before you, including making historic films, dating historic artifacts, the color of Egyptians, and other more or less controversial aspects of Ancient history. This is why I am not surprised that many people dislike your videos. But not me.....This is entertaining for me. This is the reason I watch and support the channel.

I greatly respect the amount of transparency you give to your viewers about the workings of your channel. No one is perfect but admitting mistakes is a brave thing to do. Also, no one owns a style of fighting. Every move has been done before. Let the haters hate, it just shows the ignorance of their minds and the weakness of our souls. That they hate is on them. If you let it harm you, that is on you. Offense isn't given, it is taken and doing so is a weakness in the character of the person who takes the offense. That is not to say that you shouldn't defend yourself against personal attacks but defending yourself and taking offense at someone else's actions are very different. The only offense that comes to mind that it isn't weak to address is a person who corrects another for lacking in respect. Pointing out when people are being disrespectful is sometimes necessary. Many people do this without realizing it. As long as you do this respectfully, treating others as you would be treated, it is fully justifiable.
I ask you not that you are flawless, as no one is, and those who seem that way only present themselves as such by hiding their mistakes. Instead I ask you that you try to improve and get closer to the truth every day, and that you are transparent with your mistakes. Despite your easygoing attitude I know that this is very difficult to strive for. Thank you very much for all of your work, Metatron.
Thank you Metatron for your professionalism in your work! You are a wonderful man who is great at educating & entertaining! I have always enjoyed your videos I have seen. I just wanted you to know that I very much appreciate you sharing your knowledge! I enjoy learning about many topics, science & history in particular. You do a wonderful job and I’m glad you have thick skin to deal with the hate I’m sure you get more than your fair share of. It’s seems these days anyone giving facts is attacked for it. But I imagine that more people are like myself in wanting to know the truth rather than the people who just want to hear their own ideas supported, no matter how incorrect they are. Thanks again & my best wishes to you and your family.
Honestly some of those Kendoka students and sensei having personal beef with you have dishonored themselves. It is one thing to be critical, but to constantly attacking you was dishonorable.
It is a vendetta if they are spending the time and effort to do this, which is what a child or immature person would do, not an adult and especially what a sensei should ever do. The problem is the video review process in UA-cam is utterly broken because of the sheer size of the site and Google not caring about channels that aren't large enough for them to see as profitable enough to assign a real person to manage the complaints to them.
You're absolutely right. It's dishonorable and immature. Criticism is welcome and healthy but to have such an issue over Raph giving his first impressions in the style compared to his background in Kendo? I don't understand how that's an issue. And if it was about how he did the video, then simple criticism and leaving it there was it should have ended

Although some people were just trolling, others have real critique which I worked on. After that some stuff started taking off and I actually got a little niche community.
In short, very important to listen to the viewers and know when/how to adapt.
What you do is important. Keep making the truth the thing we focus on.
I was worried you were censoring yourself, but I'm glad to see they were rather old videos.
Never ;)
@@metatronyt good, it'd be rather ironic if 'the messenger/voice of god' had to censor himself :D though that DOES sound like a great gimmick for a sitcom series...
What's wrong with self censorship? Especially uncoerced.
@@metatronyt So long as you tell the truth and back it with facts Raf, I don't care who comes after you - you have my sword!

I post to say this about once a month, but it bears repeating. You content is superb. Thank you.
Thanks again

I can only thank you for your honesty and objectivity, and I understand that anything you do is done im good faith.
Your integrity is commendable. I have no issues with your presentations. Rock On! Peace!
Thank you for not removing the HEMA vs Kenjutsu video, I know you're not an expert but still any evidence is better than none in these kind of "what if" debates
I admire your honesty. Nowadays, few people want to acknowledge their own mistakes.
You run things in a very honourable way, lad. I respect that.
Thanks for sharing this.
It's absolutely absurd it takes so little for people to get abusive, and I find it hard to grasp what trivialities can amount to controversies these days. But that's social media, I guess.
Those people attacking you over Katori Shinto Ryu were just gatekeeping creeps who hated that you were sharing information about their fighting style because they were SO pathetic that being in that school was literally the ONLY thing that made them feel special. I hope you put that video back up again.
I agree! Now I want to see what they got their undies in a knot for. Ignore them and carry on!
1000%
I have never heard of this until just now, but I looked it up apparently I live a few miles from the original school in Narita. Maybe I should go check it out. Edit: It is apparently not the original school, but a dojo run by a representative of the current-day school headmaster.
This is a bad take. They’re passionate about their lifestyle and don’t want people making light of it.
@@jonathanhubbard3334 Yours is a bad take. That doesn't justify harassment campaigns.
Metatron is actually one of the most GOATED UA-camrs on this platform. Highly informative and objective, occasionally based. Criminally underrated
Wait.... when was he hospitalized after being hit by a goat?
This video is one of many reasons why I'm an indefinite subscriber.
I adore history, I have my own limited knowledge acquired throughout the years and it expands thanks to the scarce sources I trust like this platform.
Today's video went above and beyond expressing humility, honesty, and grace.
Rafael, I truly thank you for all your efforts - and I speak for all subscribers here that you are treasured. ❤
Thanks for the great content. 🥰

You are a gentleman and a great teacher. Thank you. 🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Also shows that it's OK to make mistakes as long as your willing admit and correct it
I like watching you because you are so smart and I learn so much.thank you for all your work.👏🏼
It’s crazy that personal accountability is such a rare thing and I’m so thankful there’s amazing content creators like yourself who are about truth over anything else , even pride .
I love the honestly and humility. Top quality ❤
Lots of people need to relearn that disagreeing with someone doesn't mean you hate someone...
Thank you for your honesty and for this explanation-video. Once of the reasons I follow and adore you. Go on, Metatron, soar on the wind.
For an unscripted video, this was presented very well. You've had it on your mind for some time. Also have gotten better over the years. You really need to appreciate how much you've grown and advanced since you began.
Love your videos
Thank you
Text books often have new editions that have included further information or amendments so the very same principle should be considered acceptable when it comes to videos.
Cool, thanks for the honesty.
Super hyped for the video with Dr. Crawford! Love his channel.
Cheers!
Oooo! I can't wait to see your colab with Dr. Crawford. He's a lovely human and super knowledgeable!
Hey my Lord Metatron, thank you for your attitude! I have discovered youe channel long years ago and what made me bingwatch all your vides was simply your "hello novle ones". I was so charmed you are my hero since then. And thank you for all your effort and work, I just cannot get enough of your channel. But one thing my Lord, what was that jumpscare at the end of the video? Wasnt expecting thar 😂
This is exactly why your channel is of such high value 👍

Absolute great, it is always awesome to see people accepting their mistakes and working on them. Just a small note, I seem to hear an audio glitch at 18:01. Scared me a bit with my headphones on.
12:42 This! I respect so much your honesty. Being able to admit publicly your mistakes but keep firm if you believe you didn't do anything wrong. I really admire your love for the truth
Metatron, I appreciate your honesty and courage in admitting your mistake. We are human, and therefore, we are bound to make a mistake. The most important is admitting your error. I thank you for your efforts and your time, fratello mio. God blessed you, and continue to spread your wings.
Your channel has been so informatiive, so thank you.
I can't understand people. If they aren't miserable, angry and negative they aren't happy! Why haters bother watching is beyond me!
Absolutely looking forward to those response videos. Also, what a gentleman Metatron is. We should all strive for truth and personal self-improvement.

It can be painful, but holding yourself accountable as you've done in this video and more importantly with your actions speaks volumes about your character. +1

I've been a sub for years, gone from study to deep into a career (feels like a lifetime!). Massively appreciate your genuine constructive conversation, and thanks for the amazing content and absolute dedication to the topic, legend.
Bless you for fixing your pick your path adventures. Yogscast had done one that relied on YTs annotations and now it's lost to us :(
This is very refreshing. Thank You.
Admirable, very admirable.❤
I really love your content, keep on going!!!! :)
Thanks again & my best wishes to you and your family.

definitely looking forward to your collaboration with Dr. Crawford.
You rock Metatron, I value your work. Thanks for all you do.
I hope you have a good day Metatron! Thank you for your great videos!
Sicilians, you know...
@@KnightsWithoutATable Yeah, it could’ve been one or two of them making a bunch of accounts. And or spreading false misinformation amongst the students.
And you’re right about the sensei in the school.
Who knows how rife the scene is with youngsters who just want to learn to fight cool like a ninja but in something obscure so as to not be perceived as a clichée.
There was a loud static noise at the end I had my earbuds at high volume while brushing my teeth. I will now sue you for bodily harm 🤬🤬Anyways good video!
